This cottage sits right on the river's edge in the historic Holiday Farm community just off Mckenzie River Drive in Rainbow, Oregon. Sit on the covered porch under the comfort of the heated sitting area and watch the Mckenzie River roll by -- literally sitting a few feet from the river's edge. Enjoy the beautiful river-rock fireplace in the living room with french doors opening to the magnificent McKenzie River as it flows by, just a few feet away. Within the living room, there is a nice sofa (sleeper) and matching chair, plus two other chairs. The master bedroom has two windows with views of the river, as this room also sits right at the river's edge. There is a large screen TV in the bedroom and another larger model in the living room -- both with Dish Network. This cabin also offers private wi-fi internet for your exclusive use. The large bathroom offers a full size tub/shower and, of course, the other essentials. The kitchen is not large, but fully functional and equipped, right down to the dishes, utensils, pans, etc... please remember that even though this cabin is perfectly located, and exactly what anyone would want -- it's also most comfortable for parties of no more than 4 (if two are kids who will sleep on the sofa sleeper). There's a queen size bed in the bedroom and a sleeper sofa that could sleep one adult or possibly two small children. Maximum occupancy allowed is 4, unless the fifth guest is a small child -- confirm with Jonathan if you have any questions. Jonathan is also your local contact for any needs or questions you might have. This property not only sits right on the river's edge, it also sits on the edge of the Willamette National Forest -- full of natural hot-springs, hiking trails through incredible displays of nature, vast ancient lava flows and several high cascade lakes. The world famous, Three Sisters Wilderness Area, is located with a just a few miles of this cabin. The wild fire did affect a vast area to the west and downriver as far as the Vida area. However, 95% of what folks come here for is all still here. So bring your hiking shoes, as nearly all trails are in fine order and ready for your exploration. The property is located far enough from the Highway, so bring those bikes along too. The Belknap Bridge ( a classic covered bridge) is located just up Mckenzie River Drive a short distance, and King Rd is a great road to ride on, plus it leads to the trailhead to Castle Rock. Look up The Willamette National Forest and you'll see lots of information regarding trails, along with wonderful maps showing where the High Cascade Lakes are located. Make sure you try out at least one of the local hot-springs, hike to the Blue Pool, hike the Mckenzie River Trail from Sahalie Falls to Carmen Reservoir and back, and try the hike to Castle Rock for sure. Golf at Tokatee, eat at Takodas Restaurant and get a "chicken on a stick" from Blue Sky. Just some of the recommended activities around here. And this is just personal opinion for us… not much to do or places to eat If you go I recommend cabin but understand you have 3 places to eat and 2 is more of a coffee shop environment and the other place across street was awful Takoda’s was the best so we went there I recommend cooking We made breakfast each morning So def being cabin/cottage it was very clean and beautiful patio! Very enjoyable and relaxing.We spent 90% of our time on the covered porch watching rafters drift by, the ducks navigate the current, butterflies float by, while talking and reading our books. The sound of the river is magnificent so sleeping with the bedroom window open was lovely... Until however the neighbor across the river decided to start mowing his/her lawn @0700 on Saturday morning. No-see-ems came out in force at night with the porch lights on. With just the string lights it was fine, but not the porch lights. We were blessed with a full moon called a sturgeon moon. You can see it from the picture attached. What an experience!Couch was less than comfortable to sit on long term. The mattress on the bed itself was comfortable, although there was something in the whole bed system (box spring, mattress, frame) that made the nights sleep with two people louder than we are used to. My wife reported that when I rolled over she would bounce enough, waking her up (I'm 6'1" & 220#, she's 5'8" and less than 220#). The cabin was clean, tidy and well decorated.The kitchen was well stocked with what we needed , but only large enough for one person working. There was hot water aplenty and I drank the water out of the spout without issue. The forks, although very on theme, were like pitch forks and made eating salad more challenging. We needed to get away from the crazy fireworks in Redmond, and this was the perfect peaceful spot. The place has everything you need to enjoy a getaway. It was a beautiful, quaint cabin. Lots or ornate decorations and a very homey feel to it. We loved the original windows, screen doors, etc. It had the modern amenities but most of the charm was in its decoration and original details. The porch was fantastic. We cant wait to comeback.
