There are nightly pet fees and a pet deposit required. When booking with a pet on VRBO, VRBO defaults the number of pets to 1 dog. Our pet fee is $50 per pet per night with a $75 pet cleaning fee per pet. In order to protect our homeowners' second homes, we do require that pets must be under 35 lbs., non-shedding, and crate trained. The pet(s) must either be crated when unattended and not left alone in the cabin when you leave. As pet owners ourselves, we know that some pets have separation anxiety which will cause damage to the wood floors, walls, door frames, or furniture when left alone, even if shut in a bedroom or bathroom. Blue Ridge is an extremely pet friendly town and you can take your dog with you to most restaurants where there is outdoor seating, and walking along Main Street, shop owners keep bowls of water outside for thirsty pets. There is a $250 refundable pet deposit for all reservations. It is refunded upon the departure of the stay unless there are pet damages, excessive pet hair, or if the pet has been found unattended in the cabin. Please note there is a 3% cancellation fee in the event of any cancellation. Rental Rates Rates for cabin rentals are based on per night for up to four guests. Add $25 per person, per night above four guests. A cleaning fee will be added, based on the number of guests. Great location in the Aska area. Drive was manageable, an AWD helpful due to sections. Descriptions matched reality regarding room numbers and amenities. Clean upon arrival, decently stocked kitchen and bathrooms. Room to enjoy without feeling cramped. Mountain views surrounding the property. Cabin had bland decorations; bedrooms were bare and one lacked a TV. Ceiling fans were unusable due to noise. Screened-in room had non-functional latches, and deck seating was limited with no loungers. Yard was mostly dirt and clay, lacking grass or fencing for pets, and an old wooden rail was deteriorating. A significant tick infestation made it difficult to enjoy the yard. Rental agreement process was cumbersome, and they charged my card for the pet instead of placing a hold. Deposit was never returned, requiring a dispute. Responded quickly to issues but provided poor updates on repairs. There was no owner contact information, no instructions in the cabin, and no guest book. A bear damaged the trash area, which was never repaired, leading to insect issues. We experienced a day without running water, with no compensation or timely updates from management. I had to use spa water to refill toilets. After twelve years of renting in Blue Ridge, this experience was disappointing. We chose this perfect cabin. This cabin is so cozy yet has a nice open feel. The outdoor fireplace is wonderful. Although we did not use it, the hot tub was so clean and warm. The jacuzzi tub is huge and amazing along with a nice shower. Fun cozy game room. Very nice firepit area with awesome views of the night sky. Beds are some of the most comfortable mattresses I've ever slept on, wish I'd taken the time to see what they were! Close to town and several attractions. This was a perfect location to get together and spend some time. The place is ideal. The only bad thing about the cabin was having to leave! We enjoyed sipping coffee on the deck in the mornings and cooking on the grill in the afternoons. The kitchen was fully stocked and everything you see in the photos is accurate. Our group also enjoyed the pool table, reclining sofas, and screened in porch. I would definitely not hesitate to book this cabin in the future. We had a fantastic time at Above the Timberline! It was well-appointed and each couple had private space on each of the three floors. The screened porch was a fun place to relax and enjoy a glass of wine. We only left the cabin to hike and make a quick visit to town. The best part of our trip was just cooking out and catching up. The road is a bit difficult to maneuver because it’s steep and gravel. We made sure to return to the cabin before dark. They need to pave the road for better traction. The property is so much more than described. Our family of six adults, all had King rooms with incredible views. During our stay in the middle of February, we used all of the fireplaces and the firepit. We arranged to have wood delivered by the rental company. The kitchen was completely stocked and even included a KitchenAid Mix Master. There are so many hiking trails close by. We even had snow the last day to add to the splendor of Above the Timberline!!!! We would definitely rent here again and again... ##### Melanie Z. The house and views were beautiful! Beds were very comfortable. Kitchen was well equipped. A griddle would be a great addition. The porches were one of our favorite parts of the house! Morning coffee in the rocking chairs was a lovely, peaceful start to our days. We saw many gorgeous moths during our stay! Rocking chairs on the lower porch level level would have been nice. We would also suggest adding towel/clothing hooks in the restrooms and providing more than one towel and washcloth per guest. Extra towels for the hot tub would also be nice. Overall, our stay was wonderful and many fun and lasting memories were made! I would recommend this property. ##### Lori R. Beautiful view of the mountains. The only reason I did not give a five star is because there was dirty silverware in the skinny silverware drawer of the dishwasher and food in the fridge from previous visitors. This place is fantastic. Surrounded by serene mountain trees with beautiful views, a true retreat away from the day to day. Beds are all VERY comfortable with high quality linens, and high-end appliances. The gravel road up to the cabin is STEEP, so bring a 4-wheel drive or be prepared to get some speed going to get over the hump. The place could have used a few more blankets to cuddle with the family while watching movies, but otherwise this place has everything you need!
