Convenient to Local Attractions

Posted 6-Dec-2016 on Hotels
Bed was very comfortable, room was stuffy no air circulation, we opened the window but no screens. Hotel is older in age but this is in line with how old the area is. Very convenient to RSL club across the road & within about a 20/25 min slow walk to Three Sisters also in walking distance of shops, Cafés & Restaurants. On-site parking is limited, there is street parking available if car park is full. Breakfast is included but was unable to take advantage of this service.

Slightly tired old place.

Nice staff, slightly tired hotel right on the roadside. No AC so had to keep the windows open, mostly quiet area but the odd noisy car or people outside. Live music at weekends but didn't go on very late.

Atmospheric old world charm and modern attitude

Posted 27-Oct-2016 on Lastminute
Pros: Atmosphere and attitude of the staff. They are genuinely there to please and inform.
Cons: We liked it fine as it was
Location: Centrally located to the offerings of the blue mountains, close to main street Katoomba but not crowded
A lucky find, close to all that is Katoomba. The high quality live music at breakfast was an unexpected treat.

Hotel with plenty of character

Posted 18-Oct-2016 on Wotif
Pros: Breakfasts were good, nice to have the live music on selected nights, comfortable rooms, off street car parking was handy.
Cons: Some of the staff could have been a little more warm and friendly.
Location: Spend a day at Scenic World - we had a great time there (if you prefer quiet walks we suggest going as early as possible)
Overall we were pleased with our stay at Hotel Blue. The breakfasts each morning were tasty and there were a range of options. We always felt well fed and ready for the day. Our room was fairly basic and not as large as we first thought but overall it was clean, cosy and comfortable to go back to after our long days exploring what the Blue Mountains had to offer. We found the shower to be nice with a good amount of temperature and pressure. The live music on offer was pretty good. We enjoyed having a meal and drinks listening to the live music and found that we couldn't hear it from our room on the nights where we decided to retire early. Overall we had a good stay at Hotel Blue and would likely stay again. We're keen to come back to Katoomba as there's still more to explore in the area.

Very noisy and not family friendly.

Bathrooms were ancient, room not clean. There was a huge amount of noise from other guests late at night. Really it's just a dirty old pub.

Excellent Location, Great Value

Posted 29-Sep-2016 on Lastminute
Pros: Location and Price
Cons: The ensuite was a little dated
Location: Next door to the RSL, walking distance to Katoomba town centre, Echo Point, Katoomba Cascades and the Three Sisters
We spent three nights at the hotel, Staff were friendly and the room was quite, clean and tidy with an ensuite. A Continental Buffet Breakfast was included daily which was a lovely bonus and the room was made up each day. We were both very happy our choice of this hotel.

A gem of a place

Posted 31-Aug-2016
Pros: Comfortable feel, friendly staff, good breakfast,
Cons: The couch in our room was too low and poorly placed (under the TV screen and looking straight at the cupboard); couldn't get any of the Channels 9
Location: Brilliant location - one block back from the main street; next to RSL Club which had reasonably priced buffet meals
After a long day of travel, our first sighting of our room left us a little disappointed; but a good night's sleep changed things and we went on to enjoy thoroughly a five night stay. Very friendly staff; a lovely full breakfast included in the price; and a very comfortable ambience to the place. A jazz duet performing at breakfast on Sunday was an especial treat as was live music in the lounge on some evenings. The guest lounge, filled with comfortable lounge chairs and couches, was a great place to relax with a book. Our room (#8) was on the first floor and overlooked the carpark. I don't think the ground floor rooms would be as nice though. We called in to see a famous hotel in the main street nearby - we thought it stuffy and overly formal; by Blue, by contrast, was like a comfortable pair of old slippers ... we'll definitely stay there again.
