Near Swimming Pigs! Sand Dollar Beach Cottage is located on the beautiful island of Black Point in the Exuma Cays. The many islands of Exuma are home to a variety of popular attractions including the original Swimming Pigs. Sand Dollar Cottage is situated on a hill above the beach and has deck on both sides of the property giving guests a beautiful view of both the Atlantic Ocean, and the shallow Bahama Banks, when the tide goes out it is a beautiful Sandbar appears. This picturesque scene is perfect for taking beautiful photos. The rental home is within walking distance to all of the local activities, restaurants and stores whilst also giving visitors the perfect amount of seclusion they may require. There are two direct options of getting to Black Point with no hassle. You can fly into Nassau Bahamas then take Flamingo Air or Titan Air from Nassau direct to Black Point Exuma. Alternatively, you can fly Makers Air from Ft Lauderdale Florida into Staniel Cay Exuma. If you choose to fly into Staniel Cay however, there is a fee to transport you from Staniel Cay to the cottage. If you want to experience the various attractions of Exuma, you can do so by booking a private boat tour with us during your stay. Some of the sites seen on the tour include the world's famous Swimming Pigs, The Exuma Land & Sea Park, Swimming with the Nurse Sharks, Sandbars, The Thunderball Grotto, Iguanas, Rachel's Bubble Bath, and a variety of snorkeling sites. We also have boat rentals available with sizes ranging from 17ft Boston whalers to 23ft Contender. Incredible views front porch and back!! The cottage itself is cozy and clean with great air conditioning and everything we needed to make meals in the kitchenette. Food on the island is quite expensive so we definitely recommend flying in work as much as you can!! But we really enjoyed visiting the local groceries and the restaurants on the island. The golf cart rental is highly recommended, we used it everyday and had a blast exploring this incredible island paradise!! Also, we had the perfect day on a boat tour with Terrin, he took us to several top attractions around the Exumas and it was spectacular!!! Ida was great and helpful. The location was beautiful and right on the beach. We would return in a heartbeat! Couple of things to know: The location is remote so it is important to rent a golf cart or bikes. There were no light poles close to the house and challenging to get home at night by bike because of this. The groceries on the island are pretty limited and expensive - grocery stores only accept case (they do accept american dollars). There are only about 5 restaurants on the island. There isn't enough words to describe our stay. The cottages are perfect in every way from the furnishings to the amenities and the cleanliness. Every view out of our cottage is breathtaking, from the Atlantic dark blue out the front door to the turquoise Caribbean Sea out the back door. Simply heaven!!! Ida is such a joy to be around and she works night and day to ensure that all of her guests are happy. We love Blackpoint for so many reasons, the first one being the people on Blackpoint are the friendliest people I have ever encountered! They genuinely want you to be there! Fresh fish is abundant whether you go to one of the restaurants or hire a captain to take you out and catch your own. We cooked in the cottage and had our own fish, conch and lobster prepared at the restaurants. We never grew tired of the abundance of fresh seafood in the Exumas. We have become close to so many people on the Island From Ida, Captain Dorane (AKA adopted son) a Diver Extraordinaire, to the local restaurant and store owners. Lorraine, and all the others are awesome hosts. Black Point is a small friendly little village. We rented a cabin from Ida and it was perfect. I quickly felt at home here. It has a few little restaurants/bars and some limited grocery shopping - it is heaven on earth! There are some good experienced boatmen here who can take you out sightseeing, fishing, or whatever. But please, these are good honest people living here - if you are a snobby tourist who wants to be entertained and catered too, please don’t go here, you’ll ruin it.
