Liked: Staff & service
Disliked: Cleanliness, room comfort
Good looking, poor/dirty personality deep down :(
The staff were friendly and helpful, the reception was clean and safe and the room looked good.
Unfortunately the en suite was of poor quality and had spiderwebs and dirt everywhere, a load of pubes and splash stains over the toilet, obviously meaning it hasnt been cleaned for a while, let alone up to the "covid safe" state required. Couldn't do anything about it as we didnt get to see it properly until the next morning.
The mattress also felt like it was at the end of its life. It was a spring mattress but acted like a waterbed! If one of us moved during the night, the other knew all about it!
Dated, old, stale smell from reception through to the room I was in. Used towells dumped in a cupboard along the corridor.
I only ever saw 1 member of staff during my 2 night stay.
Never again.
Not hygienic or COVID secure. Very old and run down. Should be closed down.

Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service
I was due to stay 3 nights but then found out the hotel was housing early release prisoners and a lot of neighbours had complained about feeling unsafe or uncomfortable with lots of people congregating outside the hotel at night. I felt as a lone female staying for work, this was an important fact I should have been made aware of at the time of booking. I also rang reception to discuss the cleanliness of the room after seeing disturbing pictures of dirty rooms. The person at reception basically said the rooms are cleaned but as the rooms are cheap, you get what you pay for. Under these current Covid-19 times where cleanliness & hygiene is vital, he did nothing to satisfy my concerns and in fact my concerns increased. I complained and asked for a refund but since my booking was non-refundable (there was no refundable option available) the hotel would not give me a refund and would not accept my concerns were valid. Since my health & safety was more important, I could not stay there so I ended up losing my money and paying more to book a room at another hotel. Stay away from Himley Country Hotel !
Needa a lot of updating
Staff friendly enough
Lots of cars at night, swearing and unruly guests/lodgers staying
Paid for executive room upgrade no different to the previous stay in budget rowing
Won't be going again
Tried 3 rooms each one was terrible. Carpets not hoovered, walls dirty, plaster falling off, damp mouldy bathroom filthy shower, moths and beetles, stained chair just shabby, dirty and shouldn’t be operating absolutely disgusting!!
Dirty, no cleaner all week. Leaks from roof and buckets on the floor catching water. Ceiling tiles broken on floor in hallways. Rubbish still in room on arrival. No soaps or handwash in room. No effort to comply with social distancing with no hand sanitizer not even at check in desk.
I dnt want stay here never agaun in my life nobody on checkin desk need to find someone on my self too many flys on my bed sheet also someone had toilet and forget to flush then i need to clean that one
the room was dated and dirty. there were long black hairs in the bathroom sink upon check in. when you went by the bed there were a second door that unlocked and leas to the room next door we are assuming. there was a old sweet on one of the bedside tables. being honest i wouldn’t have my worst enemy staying here for a night with the bugs and dirt that was in the room.
I booked as we were at the NEC for Crufts over two days. This hotel allowed dogs (for a small fee) and there was no problem with them there, in fact some were relaxing with their owners in the bar and lounge area. The rooms were comfy, decor a little tired but clean, good facilities, restaurant and food were great and very good value. The staff were rushed off their feet and could have done with more help but couldn’t fault their them. Good car parking. I’d definitely stay again and recommend as a good value, comfortable, no nonsense place to stay
I was in the middle of a move and stayed here for 12 nights while contractors did their stuff. Chosen for Bus, stop 1 minute walk, every half hour to Wolverhampton or Stourbridge and then ongoing national rail connections. The only thing that spoiled the stay was signals, poor internet speed and no 4g and poor 3G connections. But the hotel was built long before these things were considerations. Signals are the same for everyone who lives in this small hamlet.
this hotel is disgusting room dirty. shower useless floods bathroom when your in it. breakfast was awful they use all cheap products. tables and chairs dirty. would not recommend it to anyone.

A work away from home hotel
If, like me you work away from home you frequently stay in hotels just like this. It has a Tv a decent clean bed and a shower that works (mine was not bad but started dripping on the second night and wouldn’t stop) then this is a cheap quite hotel which will suit you fine. The decor is tired and in my room one of the walls clearly once had a leak, (from the bathroom i’m guessing) it wasn’t damp now, but that haven’t redecorated it. The car park was full of work vans so I guess this is a well used. I will probably return ..... when the price is right!
I was happy with everything apart from the two main meals I ordered. I received things different to what was advertised on the menu. Also very loud music up until 12.
The first room we were given was terrible, carpets were threadbare and dirty and the toilet would not flush. The double bed was up against the wall so difficult to access. We were given an alternative room which was cleaner and set up better than the first one but the bed was uncomfortable and needs to be changed. The heating was not working and there was no hot water. The room was tired as was the bathroom and receptionist said that we could get hot water by boiling the kettle. The only plus side was that the hotel allows pets.
The only good thing about this hotel was that we slept like babies!! The window sills were mouldy so was the bathroom tiles, the shower was broken, soap dispensers empty and the toilet seat was not connected. The hotel smelt of damp and fat. There was no housekeeping either. For the money and merely the bed you will be fine. But I strongly suggest if you can afford it to go elsewhere. This hotel really needs to up its game and spend money on a refurb and deep clean. I will never stay here again even if it was free.
I didn't have high expectations as the price was considerably lower than anywhere else. I had planned a trip down from Manchester to go to the fireworks at Himley Hall for my birthday. I stayed here 12 years ago with my now fiance and we loved it so I thought it would be nice to stay again.
I had to wait 10 minutes at reception for a member of staff to notice me. Then waited for a long time as they couldn't find my reservation. I was left standing alone whilst the staff member went into an office to discuss with someone else. Eventually the staff member came back and asked for a few details before telling me I had to pay which I had already done so clearly had no idea I had booked there. He gave me the key and said my room was upstairs. There was a set of steps and also some stairs, as he had said stairs I went up them only to find my room was actually on the ground floor. When I did find my room it was in a pretty poor state. Plaster coming off the walls, dirt on the floor and the bed sheets with holes in them. As I was travelling alone I didn't feel comfortable complaining to them there and then. I chose to enjoy my evening and say something in the morning.
When I came to check out there wasn't a soul around so I left my key in what I presume was the right place and left. I would not stay here again and certainly not for our anniversary as we had planned to.
the hotel looks good from the outside, the corridor to the room also looks presentable but the room was well below expectations. The carpet was worn really badly. there was a huge hole in the carpet in the middle of the room. the wall that backed on to the bathroom had damp coming through the wall.I slept ok. the bedding was clean. couldn't find the remote to change the channels on the tv. tea and coffee facilities were in the room i.e. kettle and cups and milk but no tea bags or coffee sachets. The walk to the room was quite far and there was no phone in the room to contact reception to discuss this and I arrived late so could have done without trailing from one end of the hotel to the other.
I could have dropped off the key and gone in the morning to check out but I was claiming expenses and needed receipts so waited to speak to the assistant. I thought she would have asked how my nights stay was but she didn't. I would have raised these issues with her. I suspect they are aware and that's why they don't ask this.
I did only pay £27 so some may say that you get what you pay for but the state of the room takes the micky a bit.
I don't think I will stay here again unless it's given a good repair.
