Carriage House 'The Sugar Shack', Old Town Bay Saint Louis

Located one block from the beach in the 'Old Town' section of Bay St. Louis. Also within walking distance of Old Town Bay St Louis boutiques, restaurants and all ages music venues. A playground that was donated to the children of Bay St. Louis after Hurricane Katrina is across the street along with a tennis court.

Churches, antique shops, coffee shops, restaurants, pubs, art galleries and many unusual and interesting retail shops are all within two blocks of the cottage. Walking towns are nearly a thing of the past, but in 'Old Town' Bay St. Louis you can still walk anywhere you want to go and feel safe.

It's a short drive to the Hollywood Casino and Bridges Golf Course, (an Arnold Palmer designed course). Also, a short drive to the Silver Slipper Casino with a famous Sunday champagne brunch.

The second Saturday of every month, the merchants of 'Old Town' sponsor the Art Walk. They have bands and complimentary food and drinks. It's a great way to meet the locals and come to understand the uniqueness and friendliness of Bay St. Louis. Consider yourself warned: You may never want to leave the bay! (I never do) Second Saturday (as the locals call it) starts at 4:00 p.m. and ends at about 9:00 p.m.

The Carriage House sits behind the main house that was built in 1903. The Carriage house was built shortly after that. It's constructed of solid concrete blocks, which give it a real European flair. It has two bedrooms and a bath upstairs and a kitchen/living combination downstairs.

There is also a New Orleans style courtyard for your coffee in the morning or cocktails in the evening. Or you can just bask in the sun, listen to the birds, read a book and take in the wonderful gulf breezes. Whatever you choose, it's the perfect place to get away from all your woes and relax.

For added interest:
New Orleans is less than an hour away.
There's a great children's museum 20 minutes away in Gulfport.
An outlet mall 30 minutes away in Gulfport.
Stennis Aerospace Museum 20 minutes away.
We will be happy to guide you to any points of interest in the area.

No one under 25 years of age without supervision.

Children are welcome, but sorry no pets are allowed.

Out of respect for our non smoking guests, there is no smoking allowed inside the cottage, but feel free to smoke in the courtyard.

Perfect getaway
We had a great trip, this cottage was cozy for a family of four. Our boys immediately fell in love when we walked in. It was close to everything that we wanted to do. The golf cart rental next door was great as well. We will be back.

Great for Christmas
My parents stayed at the Sugar Cottage over Christmas. It was warm and cozy when is was literally freezing outside. The owner was responsive and went above and beyond, even putting up a little Christmas Tree and bringing an extra heater just in case. The property is centrally located and the town walkable. The cottage has everything one could need. We had a very nice Christmas!

Cute place on edge of downtown
As a weekend visitor to Bat St. Louis is downtown area has plenty to offer for a weekend and this carriage house is the perfect location. The bikes were nice to have but we didn’t need as it’s close enough to walk most of the downtown area. It is very close to the train tracks which did disturb our sleep both nights. With Its loud whistle and the bed vibrating as the train passes, I cant imagine anyone can sleep through that. Of course that is no fault of the owner and we otherwise loved our stay and the cute BSL. The carriage house was well stocked with coffee pot, even coffee and filters, and all the necessities for cooking as well as toilet paper and towels and nice linens. It does appear the neighbor rents golf carts though we really didn’t need.

Fabulous Girls Trip !
We are in love with this cottage and location. This was exactly what we needed for our girls trip! Walking distance to everything. I was super impressed this was in the middle of town but yet secluded and private. Loved the use of the bicycles as well. Very well appointed and had everything we needed. Thank you so much and we definitely will be back again!

Family Fun at the Sugar Shack
This was a perfect place for our family to have a end of summer vacation! The cottage was small but had everything we could have wanted. The close proximity to the beach was wonderful. We were within walking distance of fun shops and excellent restaurants. We will definitely come back.

Cute little cottage in a gem of a beach town
Our family of 5 stayed here for just under a week. The cottage had everything we needed. It's tucked away so you get privacy. There is a beach within walking distance and also a larger beach a few miles away. We took a day trip over to New Orleans as well, which is about an hour away. Bay St Louis has lots of cute little shops, restaurants and bars that you can walk to from the cottage. Only downside about the location is the train tracks nearby. But we really enjoyed it and would definitely stay again!

The Sugar Shack was close to everything. It had everything we needed. The bikes they allowed us to use made getting around town easy and fun. We enjoyed our stay very much and we are already making plans to return.

4th of July getaway
We had a great time at this cozy carriage house! Everything we needed, and then some. Communication with the owner was always very easy. We were able to rent a golf cart for our stay right next door! The location of this property is perfect for walking anywhere in town. Close to all of the coffee shops, restaurants, etc. we will definitely be back! Thanks so much.
