House is from the 80s but great bones - quality everything, bedding furniture etc + some real art gems. Mostly everything you could need in kitchen - we cooked all our meals there. If you’re a cook, bring your cutting boards, baking sheets, measuring spoons and evoo. They have everything else. 5 minute drive to cafes and lunch spots. But grab your groceries and liquor beforehand in Carmel or Monterey. Gorgeous Pfeiffer beach close and easy to get to. Everything worked perfectly. This was our 17th stay in Big Sur over the past 20 years so we have some experience. Would we rent this house again? Yes. Would we recommend to friends? Yes. That being said, there were a few issues. On our arrival, as requested, we reported ripped deck cushions and a running toilet in one of the bedroom suites that was keeping people up at night. We were thanked for calling, especially regarding the running toilet as wasting water in Big Sur is a big deal. We celebrated a milestone birthday and the house was the perfect getaway. Be sure to enjoy the stars at night as they light up the sky unlike anywhere else in Cali.The rooms are large and well appointed. The pictures don't do it justice. The homeowner provides special flashlights at the front door so it is easy to get around in the evening, especially when going from the house to your car or the guesthouse. We cooked in one night and the kitchen has everything you need. The only suggestion I made to the homeowner was to replace the teflon pans (they had wear and tear) most likely because guests were putting them in the dishwasher. The coffee setup is impressive with a home espresso machine, a moccamaster and French press options. We would book this home again. It is quiet and private.
