Year-round, the Soothing Sunset Lake House is a wonderful place to relax and spend time with family and friends. Now that Summer is here, my Soothing Sunsets Lakehouse could be the perfect spot for your friends and family to gather together to enjoy a time of relaxation, game playing, playing pool, or just having a good time together. We have installed a new gas stove and double oven In the kitchen, a new gas fireplace in the living room, and a new AC/Heater unit in the sunroom to keep your stay as comfortable as possible! The Lakehouse is a great place to be to hang out or just to enjoy the serenity of the lake. We have also just installed a Generac generator. Last April , we removed our old dock and replaced it with a larger 2 slip dock with a Trex composite deck. And finally, we enlarged our front porch to give more sitting room! Our beautiful lakefront home has a sunroom, recreation room, living room, fully equipped kitchen, large counter high dining table, 3 large bedrooms, and 2 1/2 baths. The primary bedroom has a King sized bed and a twin bed. The “Bunk Room “ has a Queen sized, Full sized, and Twin size bed, plus a twin child sized sleeping chair/bed! The third bedroom has a comfortable Queen sized bed and a twin child sized sleeping chair/bed! There’s a wonderfully comfortable sleeping chair in the living room for someone who stays awake longer than the rest, or who just likes to wake up with the sunshine. Step out from the sun room to a large deck overlooking another smaller deck with hot tub. The air is so clean and there is only the sounds of birds singing to make your visit so enjoyable. You might even see a wild deer or two. Our recreation room has a pool table, electronic dart board, and media center with a 65" television with Satellite TV, a 3-seat sofa, a 2- seater recliner rocker, a swivel rocker with rocking footstool, a large bar equipped with stemware and beer glasses with two bar stools; and a pub table with three stools. There’s a mini fridge and a chest freezer in the recreation room to hold your food and drinks whenever you need them. If you need to do work, there is a desk that is available in the house. Internet and Wifi is available as well. Our home has a private dock to fish from. Our new dock has two slips and a deck to enjoy fishing or swimming in the lake. It has lights, power, WiFi, and fans! In the fall and winter, the water is lower; but sitting on the dock can still be enjoyable. In the spring and summer, it is fun to fish from the dock or take your boat out on the river! With three different indoor living spaces and three different outdoor gathering spaces, my guests scan always find something fun to do! We have games for the family to play, DVD's of movies to watch, a pool table and dart board to keep you entertained. With three separate living areas, you should never feel crowded in the house. If you want to get away and see some of the local sites, I have put together a large notebook of useful information to include where to go golfing; shopping; wine tasting; dining; antiquing; hiking; and gambling. I've done all the research for you. These places and things to do include the surrounding area and Nashville. All the information is located in my notebook in the foyer when you walk in! If staying indoors and just chilling, my kitchen is perfect for your needs. My kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, cookware, coffee maker, ice-tea maker and water kettle. I supply the coffee pods and teas for my guests. There is no limit to your vacation entertainment. If you have questions about what to do, where to go, what to bring - I am just a phone call away! My guests are treated with a brief explanation of important details, and then you are left to enjoy your memorable vacation! Do not miss out on an amazing opportunity to rest, relax, and recharge. Although we didn't get much of a chance to use the hot tub since it was a heat wave while we were there, we definitely made good use of the rec room and pool table. The home is very cozy but has lots of room. I loved spending time in their sun room in the mornings. And of course, we spent alot of time on the lake. We brought our boat and took advantage of the great dock with a nearby boat ramp. There are alot of steps to the dock, but we just planned well so that we didn't have to make too many trips up and down. Margaret was great about communicating with us and answering our questions. While some vrbo's only have the bare minimum when it comes to supplies, the Chaffins have everything you could possibly need. The last evening we were there it cooled off and we got to sit outside and enjoy the back deck and the sound of all the birds. It was a great stay! ##### Sue E. We had a wonderful time with our friends on the lake. There were many kid friendly and not so kid friendly aspects to the home. When we arrived, the owner, Margaret, met us there and walked us through the home for 45 minutes explaining how to do things. She had provided groceries and gifts for the kids. She was very kind on arrival but over the top. I have Never had this experience with rentals in the past. I was trying hard to be polite after driving 3 hours with 2 small children. She also returned to the home on our second day as she had forgotten her medications. The home was jam packed with stuff. The kitchen is a hoarders paradise for cooking family meals. There were many glass pieces/candles/extension outlets that I had to put up away from the kids. Many personal items of the owners were out in the open. There was an insulin vial left in a mini fridge and needle left on the bar counter. My husband and I did all that was asked and written down on multiple instruction sheets. She texted us during our stay to make sure we did things properly. We were asked to bag all our trash which everything under my control was done as asked. I just received a text accusing me of not doing so and stating she "wish(es) I could follow a simple direction". Not only am I offended by her abusive language. I regret spending any money staying in her home. Other than that the beds were horribly uncomfortable. ##### Kimberly F. Margaret and her husband were great and super communicative and friendly. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again. However, we have kids aged 15 and 10 who were not allowed to use the hot tub, so if you’re coming for the hot tub and have kids this property is not for you. Also, when we arrived we were asked not to allow our son to play pool on the pool table, so if you’re coming to allow the kids to use the pool table this property is not for you. Although these factors were a disappointment to us, in all fairness please read the property’s fine print because the host does say to contact her if you will be bringing kids. Margaret is wonderful to work with. She’s very upbeat and what hospitality! The home itself had a relaxed vibe. Loved the view from the sun room facing the lake. The little town of Big Sandy has a nice grocery store-Cash Saver. Great prices and owners. Mom and Pops Pizza was delicious. Need ice cream? Homemade baked goods? Go to Adens! Loved that place. My family takes an annual trip for our dad to go fishing. This trip was the best one yet… The house is very clean, the outdoor area is spacious and the hot tub was great after a long day on the lake. The pool table and dart board were a great bonus. We brought our small fishing boat and were able to launch it right down the road (walking distance). The trek down the stairs to the dock from the home is a little long and the “trip” back up can be a little rough on the legs but it’s definitely worth it. Margaret is an amazing host. I can't say enough about how great our stay was! The layout of the house was amazing and the kitchen was better stocked and more organized than any rental house I have ever booked before. We enjoyed the hot tub, lake and fire pit and really enjoyed the quiet location and views from the decks. If I had to pick on one thing it would be that there was not a ladder to get up from the water onto the dock and we didn't think to look for this prior to jumping in... hahaha. We made it work, but folks older than us or younger may have issues so plan ahead for that. All in all we would 100% return and recommend this house for a nice getaway! ##### Elisa D. Enough space for a large family and never feel cramped. A hot tub right outside to relax, a short walk down the stairs to swim in the lake, a rec room with a huge TV to watch movies at night. Beds were very comfortable and dining area fully stocked with kitchenware to make meals. Only a five minute drive into town if incidentals were needed.
