Mediocre

Posted 14-Nov-2016
Location: I only chose A&O because it was half-way between Alexanderplatz and another location I was visiting.
A&O is an older hostel, and it shows. Compared to other hostels in Mitte and area (Circus, Generator, 180) it's a dinosaur; however, if all you need is a roof over your head A&O will do the trick. That said: cleaning staff were in the habit of barging into my room (hotel side, not hostel) each morning at 9:30 or 9:45. I also ran into trouble after I asked to store my bag for the afternoon after I checked out and their very limited pay-to-use locker system simply didn't work. I was not the only guest experiencing trouble and the staff were either unwilling or unable to help. Front desk service also tended to be slow as there was only ever one person at the counter as far as I could tell. After seeing some of the other more modern hostels in Berlin I will not be staying at A&O again if I return.

Noisy hostel

Posted 28-Sep-2016 on Hotels
I stayed at A&O for about a week in September this year. I booked a room with private restroom. It was overpriced, internet was bad, room was pretty small and the most annoying thing to me was, the noisy. People were super loud at night, it was very difficult to get some sleep.

EXCELLENT VALUE FOR MONEY

Posted 25-Sep-2016
Excellent. All those people who complain so much, forgot the fact that they were looking for the cheapest option when they found a nice affordable hostel. Then they check out and feel as picky and hard to please as Madonna. Next time you want the best of the best, just go on and spend 500 euros per night, and you'll get it. If you can't afford it, then keep it low key and be humble and grateful. Best wishes

Youth hostel, central location

Posted 11-Sep-2016
Clean but very small room with 2 beds, 1 wooden chair and no table. Free Wi-Fi of good quality. Active bar and a very busy, overloaded reception with nice but overworked receptionists. It's OK for a youth hostel but they should not pretend being a hotel (and pricing accordingly).

Too expensive compared to the location and facilit

Posted 2-Sep-2016 on Hotels
Hostel was o.k, staff friendly, wifi in room working well and I would say the atmosphere was great for youth/teenagers.However nothing really was going on surround the hostel. It's not really in the middle of the city. Also last 2 days from our many days stay, price increased to €90 which made us moved somewhere better.

Nice if you like matchboxes

Posted 22-Jun-2016
Pros: all day bar
Cons: room cleaning, also installing phones in the rooms
Location: shanty town next door but one
More a youth hostel, Very convenient for transport and bars and restaurants. Towels and sheets not changed over 4 days, Close to the wall and museum island. Cheap though and reasonably clean. Tiny bathroom, but everything worked,

Location: A simple walk to the City Centre with lots of public transport options nearby too.
I booked this hotel because it was very reasonably priced and within walking distance of Berlin City Centre. I wasn't expecting much, simply a place to lay my head at night, but for the price, it was brilliant. The beds were among the comfiest I've experienced in a hotel and I would recommend it.
