I’d stay here again.
Very clean and roomy with nearby easy parking. Excellent location—truly less than ten minutes walk to Windsor.

Room was adequate and clean. But beds were not comfortable, Door knob was loose. As soon as I opened a door to the room, I smelled stale cigarette smell. There seems no air condition so need to open windows to get air through room. Room was ready to check in 30 minutes before check in time and no problem to get in to our allocated room upstairs. Expedia listed contact number was wrong and finally found correct phone and contact email address from Charles House own web site. Expedia booking site was not able to amend number of guest from one to two. I finally got Charles house owner by email and at end we paid additional 10 GBP for our stay. Toilet sheet was yellow stained and could not understand why it has not been replaced to new one. Better maintenance of room is required. 10 minutes Walking distance to Windsor Castle. Closest parking was full but we found spaces in another parking. Parking 4.80 GBP for two hours, 2 GBP for Overnight 7 pm to 9 am. Better to stay outside of Windsor or visit from London by tour or rail.

GREAT PLACE TO STAY
This guest house is what it states on the tin. Its simple and easy to find and use. We enjoyed it . No body to check in with and the last four of your mobile to gain entry was a novel idea and worked well. I can state that our stay was enjoyable and if I were staying in Windsor again I would certainly stay at this property. Also there is a CO OP convenience store just across the road which is a great bonus.

Nice Hotel near to the Castle of Windsor. Parkings are near and you can go by foot in 10 minutes to the old town.

The Charles house room was clean and not bad. It is quite far from anything-restaurants, sites to see etc. Be ready to walk. The real problem with this hotel is that there is nobody there and no help or answers to anything. Why does one choose a smaller hotel? Usually for a more personal touch. Where to eat?, what to see? Talk to a local. Forget it here. There is no front desk or person to talk to. You punch a code in to enter, if you know it. There is a book with very sparse local information in the room. In the morning there is a phone number that is not active until 9:30 am!!! Never in 35 years of traveling have I ever been in a hotel room after 9:30am. 90% of customers have checked out before 8:30am. Very difficult when one does not have local cell phone service to deal with this hotel. Avoid this. Not convenient. They should call it the Charlie's Angels because you never see anyone- only over the phone can you talk. I did not see another human being at this hotel. That is a first!

Convenient and clean guest house
Very spacious room but the traffic noise didn't allow for a good night sleep despite the double glazed windows. The twin beds we asked for were not all that comfortable either. Parking was also a problem as had to park to a nearby paying car park which added an extra charge to our stay. Overall the room and bathroom were clean and spacious and the guests house is conveniently located just a walk away from the city centre.

Great location, clean bright room.
Nice light room, although a bit warm on arrival soon sorted by turning radiators off! Convenient for a small supermarket across the road and a short walk into Windsor.

The property is in a great location very close to the centre of Windsor. The door entry system is a good idea and ensures flexibility.

little gem
Charles house is great find .clean comfortable and safe .our first time in Windsor we loved it . Barbara sent all information necessary check in parking all really helpful .although our first visit to Windsor would definitely stay at Charles house in the future.

Excellent B and B.
This B and B is extremely well located both for shopping and site seeing. It is very well equipped, clean and comfortable. There is a car park nearby.

Well located Guest House
This Guest House is in a perfect location for visiting Windsor. It's near shops and all the places of interest. The rooms are well appointed and clean. There is a car park nearby which has a walkway through to the station and main shopping area. It would also be convenient for Heathrow airport. This is the second time we have stayed and hope to go again next month.

Clean and simple
We didn't see anybody from the hotel but I didn't mind that as we had a contact number for any problems. Although small the room was very clean and adequate for our needs but if you wanted luxury you would go elsewhere.

Ideal for a short stay
Charles house is in an excellent location within minutes of the castle, town and all the shops and restaurants. It was very easy to find and access was extremely simple with an access code emailed a week or so before our arrival. The bed was huge and very comfortable and the shower room was of a good size with a nice, powerful shower.

Perfect location
We stayed in Charles House at half term so that we could see our grandsons who live in Windsor. The guest house is well located being near all places of interest, the shops museums,Legoland and Windsor Castle. There is a car park nearby and we were able to leave our car overnight.

Nice and clean room but no human contact.
This is a property where you are provided with the entry code and the room assignment. During our two night stay, we never met anyone. But the property is well located and the price was very competitive. Clean and fairly large room. The payment is taken from the credit card automatically. We would return.

Very Reasonably Priced and Good Location
Stayed here for the evening following a wedding in central Windsor. Really like the key pad entry system - very easy, means you can check in at any time and no keys to lose! The owners were very friendly when contacted too. Generally clean and tidy, the only minor improvement I'd make, and it is so minor, is that the loo seat could do with replacing as it was yellowing and the hinges rusting. Overall very good choice of place to stay, parking is round the corner in a public car park - we paid about £5 for 5pm to 10:30am the next morning.

It was one night in this B&B. The accommodation was lovely, with a fridge in the room, but more expensive than where I usually stay. There is no one on site, and only a cold breakfast for more money, which I chose not to accept. And no lounge where one can visit with a friend you do not want to invite into your bedroom.

Our room was very large. Very handy to transport and restaurants. The house keeper was lovely and the service each day to a high standard. The heating was so good that we had to turn it off.

Very happy with Charles House
WE were very pleasantly surprised when we were shown 'Henry' the room we occupied. Freshly decorated and spotlessly clean it was reasonably spacious for both of us and our luggage. It was cleaned daily and fresh towels were of good quality as was the bedding. The staff we met were very helpful and friendly. It was an easy walk to Windsor High Street with it's shops and restaurants. Value for money we would totally recommend Charles House to anyone wanting a pleasant stay in Windsor.

Solo stay 4 day break
A 4 day break to the Royal Windsor Horse Show for myself. A little disappointed that there was no breakfast for the price. Quiet room called "William" but could have had little extra touches such as the normal little bottles of hair shampoo and conditioner. No soap provided even though it was requested as it was impossible to balance those push pump bottles when there was nothing to set it on in the shower. Rubber mat had to be requested for the shower tray as it was like standing on a soapy glass surface. As there was no breakfast I was advised to buy my breakfast out. I bought a box of cereal and then discovered that there was nothing to put it in i.e. cereal bowl and spoon. This was eventually provided after a request This was the first 'keypad' entry house that I had stayed in and missed the greeting by the owner and had to carry my bags up the stairs myself. Also felt very isolated as there was no personality or atmosphere in the house. If you want a hermit style holiday this is the place to go. Never met a soul the whole 4 days apart from the girl that cleaned the rooms!

Thank you for taking the time to review Charles House. A continental breakfast can be added if requested, I do not put it in unless asked as so much food was wasted. If breakfast is not requested then I do not put in crockery as it just takes up room on the table, easy to request if required. The body wash and hair shampoo fits perfectly in the little dish attached to the shower, again with the little bottles there is too much waste which I believe is wrong in this day and age. There is always a rubber mat in all rooms whether it is a shower cubicles or a bath/shower, these are stuck on the wall so can be used or not used depending on preference. It is made quite clear that I do not live on the premises when booking and in my confirmation email, if as you say you wish to chit chat to the landlady then an old style B & B would probably be more up your street.

Great location
With only 2 min walk from train station and centre of town, charles house is a lovely hotel in a top location. Everything from the selection of teas and coffees to the soaps in bathroom has been well though out and we appreciated the extra touches that were made.

An excellent option right in the heart of Windsor, close to the station. My room (William) was very clean, with a comfortable bed. High standard of fittings, and good wi-fi. Option to have continental breakfast left in the room for £5 much appreciated - more than enough for me. Key pad entry system very easy and meant I could come and go as necessary. Met the owner briefly - very friendly, and more than happy to let me leave bags after check-out under the stairs to collect later. Very good value too.

Noisy location
The room was clean and comfortable but we had no idea the location was so noisy. Tour buses round the corner from Arthur Street onto Alma and if you are in the top front room (Henry) you will have to have your windows closed at all times. Cars at the stop light can see directly into the room so there is no privacy. The cleaning girl (Christine) was excellent. The day she was off, the room was to have had the sheets changed and that was not done. The location to Windsor Castle is good as well as both Windsor Central and Windsor and Eton Riverside train stations.

Great location and exactly as advertised
This guest house is perfect and exactly as advertised. The pass codes and no reception process worked precisely as described in the pre trip email. Location is 5 minutes walk to the center, castle and train station. Grocery store across the street. Perfect base from which to explore Windsor. Room cleaned well everyday. I stayed in "William" which is away from the street so quiet and great sleeps. I highly recommend. One note the wifi works well but you need to find the codes in the inroom hotel guide. Price for Windsor reasonable, good value. Will stay there again.

Comfy, clean and convenient
This is a beautifully appointed guest house - everything was spotlessly clean. Although not manned (there is no reception or anyone on the premises 24 hrs) we didn't miss it. Entry is via key code which is very convenient. It's close to the station and shops, plus there's a shop just across the road for anything you need. No breakfast is provided but it's so close to all of Windsor's cafes, you don't need it. Very well managed and recommended if you like your independence.
