"Lovely location off the beaten track"
Pleasant hotel but lacking in some areas - a hotel bar which doesnt provide crisps and olives with drinks before dinner - a tatty menu - no bread served with dinner - staff missing in the morning at breakfast - had to search for service - saying all that food is good but try a little more and it could be superb. One other thing - beware of staff leaving by noisy motorbike late at night

"Quaint Little Boutique B&B"
Jo met us at the B&B, checked us in, scheduled our breakfast for the next day and showed us how to use the tea and coffee bar. There was also cold bottled water in a fridge for guests. This B&B does not have on-site staff or many of the conveniences of a 4 or 5 star hotel such as a bar, restaurant or concierge. As a B&B it also seems unfair to compare it to a full service hotel. We loved our room as soon as we moved in, it was very comfortable and cozy. We had some work to do on the internet but had difficulty connecting. We found a router under the small desk in the room and rebooted it. That gave us intermittent service for a while, just enough to finish what absolutely needed to be done. We then headed up the road a short walk to a nice pub for dinner. We returned from our dinner and found our room had a terrible odor like fish or something rotting. We found the source was the drain in our shower. I soaked a tea bag with water and placed it over the drain. This and opening the windows for a little while seemed to alleviate the problem. We kept the windows open just in case the tea bag dried out overnight. Our breakfast in the morning was amazing! Jo is an awesome cook and the variety of choices was perfect. What a wonderful way to start our day and journey back to Heathrow. I would definitely stay in this B&B again. Even though there were a few quirks, the facility is very nice, bed very comfortable and that breakfast made the other issues totally forgivable.

"Lovely building and grounds"
A beautiful manor house in lovely grounds, but some rooms separate in grounds, ie garden rooms and cottage rooms. We had a garden room for 1 night which was very small and basic, with no fridge (so had to order fresh milk when required) and little storage for clothes etc. The walk-in shower overflowed into the small bathroom, and the neighbours could be heard next door. The bed was extremely comfortable and the receptionist was friendly and helpful. We didn't eat in the hotel, but noticed there was a high service charge of 12% for food and drinks, which we thought was too much. The grounds are well kept and lovely, so the setting is very nice, and would be ideal for a wedding!

"Modern Apartment in a Central Location"
Our family of two adults and two children stayed in Apartment 13 on the second floor, for the May Day Bank holiday weekend. The apartment has a lift, excellent facilities and the bedding, towels, layout of the rooms were of a very high standard. Both double beds were very comfortable and the showers were good. There is a dining table everything you need in the kitchen (tea bags etc) but there is only one 2 seater sofa and 1 armchair so not enough seating for 4 people in the living room. There are 2 ensuites plus another wc off the hallway. The whole apartment is modern with excellent fixtures and fittings. The DVD player didn't work properly (we could only get a black and white picture) but one phone call to reception had them send someone to fix this and it worked just fine afterwards. Parking at the hotel is not easy to find if you are not familiar with Reading town centre and costs £20 per 24 hours so not cheap. The apartment block is just behind the hotel, through the car park. It's walking distance from Reading Station and a short walk from the apartment to the main shopping centre called Oracle that has lots of restaurants by the river. Despite the parking I would recommend this apartment.
