"LOCATION. LOCATION. LOCATION."
I was wanting a hotel, close to campus, where my son and I could enjoy "classy and comfy" before moving into the dorms. This hotel is/was close to campus. This hotel is in "that" terrific location, walking distance to dorms, campus, and an overall hub of activity. Couldn't have asked for better. However, this hotel does not offer parking, which for those of us driving our kids to school, is a major ding. Public parking across the street is $40 for over night parking. Finding street parking is next to impossible. Our room was so-so in terms of comfort. The bathroom door slides open and doesn't lock. Not very private, and quite awkward for a mother and eighteen year old son sharing space. TV was missing a remote, one key didn't work, bed was not comfortable, no room service menu, no counter space in the bathroom for toiletries/makeup, poor lighting, and our room had views of the generators. Staff did their best to make up for what was missing/lacking.

"Loveliness in chaos! "
The hotel is in the middle of a complete renovation. That said, they have done EVERYTHING to make it more than ok. My room was absolutely fantastic, everything is new and fresh and beautiful AND so comfortable! The staff was outstanding. The Meritage restaurant was delicious.

"Convenient and Clean."
Our visit was short but nice. We had a quick overnight with our 5 year-old granddaughter. She was excited by everything but we found the hotel staff pleasant and courteous and our 2-queen bedroom comfortable. We were afraid the rooms would be outdated as the hotel looks a little worn from the outside but that was not the case. We had a view of the large swimming pool outside but we didn't have time to take advantage of it. There was a continental breakfast but we missed the timing for it. It was a pleasant visit, and we would stay again.

Pocket Guide: Berkeley, Oakland Business Hotels

The city’s radical spirit has endured at least on Telegraph Avenue by the UC Berkeley campus. Upscale shops have moved into the once industrial Fourth Street district. Foodies flock to the Gourmet Ghetto, which began in the 1970s with Chez Panisse. Berkeley Hills’ residents enjoy bay views and access to Tilden Park’s 2,000 acres. Visitors to the marina can stroll on the pier and explore the parks.
