Overpriced, worn out

We accidentally first went to another Tulip hotel near by (of the same chain but much newer and more luxurious) and then when we finally went to the right hotel, we were very disappointed.
Worn out carpets in the reception gave off a bad first impression. But worse, the check in at 1 am was extremely slow. We were so tired and ready to go to our room but the receptionist was taking forever. And although it was clearly marked on our reservation that we wanted a double bed, he gave us two twin beds. So we returned back to the reception for a change. His excuse was that he did not know that the room he gave us had single beds! Room was very small and cold, heating took quite a while to warm up the room.
In the end, we were happy to see that whatever extra we requested (i.e. blanket, taxi service) and the breakfast staff were very polite, friendly and helpful. Breakfast is ok for its price considering how expensive food has gotten in Beirut.
The area is not that great either. There is nothing near by, no cafes, restaurants nor shops. You either need to walk at least 10-15' to get to the main street (not that great either) or take a taxi.
Overall, this hotel is way overpriced for what it offers.
