The hotel is a 7 minute drive from the airport, very nice interior and rooms, and as long as you can suppress your urge to be an over-entitled Westerner, you'll realize that these rooms are severely under-priced. Do be aware ahead of time that there is a 200 Yuan key deposit, and if you don't bring your receipt with you when you check out, management might try to make you sign a deposit return waiver. Room had no window which I knew ahead of time to take advantage of the lower price. Didn't hear any airplanes flying over the hotel. Room was clean and comfortable. Two free bottled waters provided each day. Breakfast was fantastic- Asian style with buns, duck eggs, stir fry and pickled veggies, rice porridge to name a few. The only western style food were bread and eggs. Read bad reviews regarding the breakfast, but that's because Western tourists aren't used to Asian style breakfast and want their grand slam 'stick to the ribs' type of breakfast. It is not on a main street so I was a bit concerned when we were going down the street looking for the hotel, but the staff speaks good English including the people in the restaurant which serves excellent food. The information from the hotel says that there is a free transportation service to and from the hotel, but it was difficult to book a free shuttle service from the airport to the hotel in advance. Therefore, at the terminal I waited in a long line to get a taxi to the hotel. I showed the hotel name both in English and Chinese, but the taxi driver did not know the hotel name, and he asked the way through the wireless to the taxi office, and the hotel was nearby the airport, the taxi driver charged me 100 RMB on the way. I feel a little scared and I had to pay this amount anyway. Far from it. It was a 15 minute shuttle ride to an industrial park. The shuttle service was not accessible from the airport and it was only due to a Chinese speaking colleague that I was able to get the shuttle to pick me up - after a 40 minute wait. The front desk staff barely spoke English and took check in in the most random order. They also demanded a 200 RMB key deposit which was not advertised. Their shuttle service did not operate 24 hours a day but on a set schedule. I am a nonsmoker, and when I made my reservation through Expedia.com, I specifically requested a nonsmoking room. When I checked in, I was informed that there were no nonsmoking rooms at the hotel, only rooms for smokers. We had paid, and so we had to either accept the room or lose our money. When we got to the room, the air was heavy with the smell of tobacco smoke. I went to the curtains covering the window to see if I could open the window to let in fresh air, and I discovered that the window could not be opened and that on the other side of the window was a dark, unlit, apparently usused hotel corridor #very strange to find that on the other side of a hotel window!). After a few minutes in the room, I could feel the beginning of throat irritation and light-headedness. My wife and I slept poorly during the night and woke up with headaches and a doped feeling. The hotel staff was friendly, but the front desk was ineffient, confused, and even chaotic. The hotel is in the middle of an undeveloped area on a dark road. Luckily, there are a couple of restaurants within walking distance. The hotel advertises that it is one mile from the airport, but it is more like four or five miles. After we checked out, we noticed that our clothes reeked of tobacco smoke. All in all, if you are a heavy smoker, you will enjoy the rooms. My room was very tiny and located between two hallways. One wall of the room was simply a big glass window behind a curtain; beyond this was simply a dark hallway. THe room was incredibly hot. They came and set the room thermostat on A/C, although no hotel A/Cs in China are operational during this part of the year. The room temperature increased another 2 degrees C so I turned it off. The hotel did not have a fan I could use. As I described, the room had no walls to the outside so there was no window to open. The bathroom was filthy and the water flow in the shower was pathetically low. The room has no minibar or fridge.
