Lovely old hotel, but the Expedia room seemed to be directly over the pub and we were disturbed by loud music in the middle of the night.

The hotel was beautiful. Amazing location on the embankment, and central for the town. We had Afternoon Tea which was delicious, followed by a few drinks in the bar. The hotel was full, plus a wedding which meant parking wasn’t possible , but there is an NCP a short walk away. Staff very efficient , lovely rooms.

The hotel was very nice all the amenities you need but outside the property on a gloomy day of rain was disappointing. The river would be nice in the summer but the rest of the street was a dump. No really nice places to eat they all looked like real dives.

The value is really good. Beautiful rooms, lots of tea/ coffee/milk in room and biscuits. Can’t fault. Parking really good.

We spent 4 nights at this hotel - of which two nights we had no heat. The first night we were offered an extra quilt and after three phone calls the next day a small heater was brought in. No compensation was offered for the fact we had no heat for these two nights even after a request was made. We found the waitresses in the lounge and restaurant were very friendly but the bartender and hostess were actually rude! I would not recommend this hotel for these reasons.

During my stay, the hotel was having problems with the heating. I explained how cold my room was, I was told they had been having problems with the heating for the past 6 days. No one had bothered to contact me in advance to warn me, giving me the option to book somewhere else and simply told me it was being worked on and there wasn't anything they could do. They did not offer any additional heating, and even the "apology" did not come across as sincere. It was delivered without empathy or concern and a "it's not my fault" attitude. Apart from the heating, my room was comfortable. I had booked 3 rooms for 5 adults and 1 infant. 2 of the adults who were due to stay with me did not attend due to illness. I was glad because although the beds were double, they were very small so I would not have been comfortable sharing the bed. My room had a stained carpet and the deadlock on the door did not work. After going out, I returned, at midnight, but there were no parking spaces. I spoke to someone in reception to ask where I could park and was directed to a Local Authority car park which was some way away - this meant that I would have to walk back unaccompanied - as a single female, I found this completely unacceptable. (bearing in mind I had booked 3 rooms, I would have expected to have at least 1 parking space). I had to ask my daughter to leave her baby with her elderly grandmother and come with me. (still not ideal). Staff did not care.

Bedford swan hotel
Stayed one night Checkin was easy I would think about bed and breakfast prices. 10 pounds for breakfast without proper tea and coffee. Need to invest in machines not thermos flasks please Room was clean and shower good water and press good. Great views of the river and embankment. I would happily stay here again if I needed to be in Bedford for a family event.

Fantastic
We really enjoyed our stay here. The hotel is immaculate, the staff are lovely, and the amenities were great. It’s located in a great area, very convenient for the town centre and places to eat. Unfortunately we didn’t get to use the spa this time, but we would absolutely come back another time as well. Could not fault the hotel and would gladly stay here again.

The heating was a problem for us on Christmas night. When we arrived the room was cold so much so we left our coats on whilst we tried to adjust the heating control. We failed to work out how it worked and asked for a staff member to help. They came to the room and pressed buttons on the controller and said it would be fine now but it still didn’t seem to work. We went to bed cold. There were no extra blankets etc in the room so I put jackets and coats on top of us. Good clean hotel but room cold sadly.

The hotel looks beautiful with all the Christmas decorations. Our room was lovely, nice decor & all amenities. Breakfast was good except the plates for hot food were cold as was the bacon. We like this hotel very much and will visit again.

As lovely as the hotel is, the staff are miserable and immature. The girl at the reception was so curt and miserable, she shouldn’t be allowed to see client and have the privilege of making a first impression. I found the breakfast very bland, and all the yogurts were out of date. When I brought this to the staffs attention, no apology was made and instead she said ‘is it’ took the basket and went in to the kitchen. Dinner staff were equally discourteous and immature huddling together and talking about the clientele which I could both see and hear. There was a Greek girl at the dinner service who was both friendly and professional. I shan’t be staying there again and do not recommend the Bedford Swan. For 3 night it cost £451 to receive a rude and uninviting service.

Good hotel - rude staff and no parking!
Not any where near enough parking for the number of rooms plus spa and all the functions they run there. Staff at peak check in times are rude, I was asking about additional parking spaces and was literally ignored, the room key was put in front of me and she walked off. Very bad. Hotel is lovely just let down by poorly trained staff and no parking.

Superb service
Long weekend stay. Lovely room with a comfortable bed. Awesome breakfast. Sink plug got stuck on Sunday morning. No one could fix it so they upgraded us to a better room with a bath. Wife was really happy.

The hotel doesn't have enough space for parking. The room is not enough to walk because of the king size bed. The reception weren't helpful when we couldn't find space for parking and they were rude. We cancelled that night!
