Private Community. 30 Min to Durango/Vallecito Heiden’s Hideaway, located outside Bayfield, CO in the majestic San Juan Mountains, is the perfect getaway for any season of the year. This 2-story cabin is on 2 acres of serene wilderness, surrounded by tall pine trees in the beautiful community of Forest Lakes, Colorado. Within this community we have Lake Simpatico,(2 miles from the cabin), a private 25 acre lake that is stocked with fish waiting to bite and does not require a fishing license. It is located 6 miles north of Bayfield where you can find amenities such as grocery stores and several restaurants for your added convenience. (Four wheel drive and/or chains necessary during winter months). The cabin is also located only 20 miles south of Vallecito Lake, one of the largest lakes in Colorado where you can enjoy endless activities such as, hiking, boating, fishing, horseback riding, jet skiing in the summer, ice fishing, skiing, tubing and snow shoeing in the winter. You can also easily enjoy the superb shopping and dining in the historic city of Durango, only 30 miles away. The cabin is available all year and throughout the hunting season and is located near over a half million acres of public land and big game habitat and is a top pick for hunting Elk, Mule Deer and Turkey. Guided hunting trips are available. Whether you want to get away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy some truly quiet time to rejuvenate or if you are an outdoors enthusiast and have an adventurous spirit, our home away from home has access to it all. The cabin is nicely furnished and has all modern conveniences. It features a beautiful covered front porch which is a favorite place to enjoy a morning coffee, take in the beautiful surroundings and watch the wildlife meandering by including deer, elk and if you are real lucky a bear. (Please keep your food indoors and trash in designated containers). Enjoy high ceilings, lots of natural light, two bedrooms and 1 full bathroom. On the first floor you will also find a fully equipped kitchen, a cozy living room with comfy recliners and chairs, ceiling fan, and 47” HD TV. A dining area with a large 6 person dining table is the perfect place to enjoy dinner or play games with your friends and family. Downstairs you will also find a bedroom with full size bed and large sliding doors to a patio where you could enjoy the scenery. The full bathroom which includes a bathtub and a shower is also located on the first floor. Upstairs you will find a loft bedroom with a king size bed, a futon couch/bed, a twin folding bed, desk/workstation, and a flat screen HD TV. A propane bbq is included. Also, a washer and dryer are available for your convenience. Heiden’s Hideaway is the perfect place for you, your family and friends to enjoy all that southwestern Colorado has to offer. The perfect area for capturing it all, including the spectacular fall foliage, hiking, fishing, hunting, river rafting, snowshoeing or just relaxing, you are sure to want to come back year after year. We are a pet friendly property and welcome up to 2 well behaved dogs. There will be an additional pet fee of $60 for your stay. Please Note. There is a RING camera device in the carport. This allows us to monitor the cabin remotely when vacant and check for snow levels when sending the plow during the winter months. Located approximately 8,000 feet in elevation, the summers tend to be dry and mild with temperatures ranging in the 60’s to the 80’s and the winters are cold and snowy. Please be advised that 4WD is a necessity in the winter months. The community roads are dirt and the cabin is located 2 miles up within the community of Forest Lakes. Note: Until confirmed, rates are subject to change without notice. Me and my wife and our two dogs enjoyed hiking the area and eating at the many pet friendly restaurants this area has to offer. As for the property it was truly a great experience. It was nice and warm when we first arrived and everything was very clean. It may look small from the pictures but it’s actually very spacious once you are there in person. Well stocked and very comfortable. Love all the beauty and wildlife right in front of the cabin. Dear, Wild Turkeys, Chipmunks, Squirrels, and Blue Jays. The fishing at Vallecito is always fun. We were fortunate enough to extend our stay when our other plans fell through. Heidens Hideaway is tucked way back up in the woods ( just when you think your GPS must be crazy, just keep going.) Yet, it was close enough for us to enjoy all that Durango and the surrounding area had to offer. The cabin was beautiful, clean and cozy. Our host was easily accessible via messages. The day was sublime. My children loved seeing all the wildlife: dear, raccoons, chipmunks, and birds. The temperature was perfect, and a nice reprieve from the hotter temperatures lower in the animus Rivervalley. I hope to stay here again, one day, and so do my children! Bonus: only 30 minutes to Durango, along some of the prettiest stretches of County Road in the world. ##### Nicholas S.
