Private Community. 30 Min to Durango/Vallecito Heiden’s Hideaway, located outside Bayfield, CO in the majestic San Juan Mountains, is the perfect getaway for any season of the year. This 2-story cabin is on 2 acres of serene wilderness, surrounded by tall pine trees in the beautiful community of Forest Lakes, Colorado. Within this community we have Lake Simpatico,(2 miles from the cabin), a private 25 acre lake that is stocked with fish waiting to bite and does not require a fishing license. It is located 6 miles north of Bayfield where you can find amenities such as grocery stores and several restaurants for your added convenience. (Four wheel drive and/or chains necessary during winter months). The cabin is also located only 20 miles south of Vallecito Lake, one of the largest lakes in Colorado where you can enjoy endless activities such as, hiking, boating, fishing, horseback riding, jet skiing in the summer, ice fishing, skiing, tubing and snow shoeing in the winter. You can also easily enjoy the superb shopping and dining in the historic city of Durango, only 30 miles away. The cabin is available all year and throughout the hunting season and is located near over a half million acres of public land and big game habitat and is a top pick for hunting Elk, Mule Deer and Turkey. Guided hunting trips are available. Whether you want to get away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy some truly quiet time to rejuvenate or if you are an outdoors enthusiast and have an adventurous spirit, our home away from home has access to it all. The cabin is nicely furnished and has all modern conveniences. It features a beautiful covered front porch which is a favorite place to enjoy a morning coffee, take in the beautiful surroundings and watch the wildlife meandering by including deer, elk and if you are real lucky a bear. (Please keep your food indoors and trash in designated containers). Enjoy high ceilings, lots of natural light, two bedrooms and 1 full bathroom. On the first floor you will also find a fully equipped kitchen, a cozy living room with comfy recliners and chairs, ceiling fan, and 47” HD TV. A dining area with a large 6 person dining table is the perfect place to enjoy dinner or play games with your friends and family. Downstairs you will also find a bedroom with full size bed and large sliding doors to a patio where you could enjoy the scenery. The full bathroom which includes a bathtub and a shower is also located on the first floor. Upstairs you will find a loft bedroom with a king size bed, a futon couch/bed, a twin folding bed, desk/workstation, and a flat screen HD TV. A propane bbq is included. Also, a washer and dryer are available for your convenience. Heiden’s Hideaway is the perfect place for you, your family and friends to enjoy all that southwestern Colorado has to offer. The perfect area for capturing it all, including the spectacular fall foliage, hiking, fishing, hunting, river rafting, snowshoeing or just relaxing, you are sure to want to come back year after year. We are a pet friendly property and welcome up to 2 well behaved dogs. There will be an additional pet fee of $60 for your stay. Please Note. There is a RING camera device in the carport. This allows us to monitor the cabin remotely when vacant and check for snow levels when sending the plow during the winter months. Located approximately 8,000 feet in elevation, the summers tend to be dry and mild with temperatures ranging in the 60’s to the 80’s and the winters are cold and snowy. Please be advised that 4WD is a necessity in the winter months. The community roads are dirt and the cabin is located 2 miles up within the community of Forest Lakes. It was easy to find, if a bit further out of town than we expected. We enjoyed the quiet and the scenery and all the comforts of home. We had one problem with the washer, and the host was very responsive in getting it fixed. The elevation is about 8,000 feet, so keep that in mind if you are sensitive to altitude. We just love it. Very quiet and beautifully wooded property. DEER and TURKEYS everywhere. Love spending the evenings on the deck. Will definitely be back. ##### Steve B. We loved the cabin. It was very nice with great furnishings and very well stocked with everything one would need. The cabin was a little difficult to find and to come and go daily. The oven was very dirty and needed cleaning which we left a note for the cleaning crew to take care of. We saw deer, wild turkeys. ##### Verna S. My wife and I rented the cabin to get away from Houston for our 5th Anniversary. This place is awesome! A peaceful mountain getaway with all the comforts of home. Little did we know that the first snow of the season would come early this year and dump almost 20inches of snow. While it was extremely beautiful, we were so glad we had an AWD SUV to safely navigate back down the mountain. We would come back again and love to do some summer hiking.
