Not recommended
Booked 2 days but decided to cut short my stay. The carpets were sticky n there were stains on the bedsheets and pillows. Couldn’t sleep as the rain hitting on the windows were super loud.

Dont stay here if u r non smoker
Dont stay here if u are non smoker. I have stated my request non smoking room when booked delux room. However the room was upgraded to junior suite SMOKING room. The smell was unbearable. I checked with them next day why i was givien a smoking room. They claimed that the room has already cleaned up before letting me to stay. Dont ever stay in this hotel again

Good hotel but slightly costly
Stay was quite good overall. Place is relatively new and clean. Only thing that was not good was the shower. It has a fixed shower head at a height and the hot water does not worked well. Free shuttle services are for premium rooms and above.

One night in Batam
Stayed for 1 night over the CNY holiday. The room has no proper wardrobe. When I asked for the iron & ironing board during my check-in, they said they will look inito it. After dinner when asked again, they said the guest still haven't returned it; and was asked to check again the nx day @ 7am. When I called several times housekeeping & reception at 7am, there were no answers. Finally, someone picked up at abt 8am. Few minutes later, they sent to my room, iron & a bedsheet! So they do not have ironing borad?? During our breakfast, there was power trip a couple of times. Despite the hiccups, it was an okay stay for 1 night.

89 Hotel literally sits in the middle of local food places, including roadside hawkers, casual restaurants, and bigger (open air) food courts. Despite its location next to a not-very-clean canal, there is no pesky scent (unless you stand in front of it). Walking distance to Grand Batam Mall, BCS Mall, a convenience store, I enjoyed the easy access to roadside seafood options the best. There is also a pretty decent rooftop bar at Vanilla Hotel next to 89. There is not too many cons that really affected my stay. You have the occasional cigarette smell in room, non-carpeted floor in room (which is a good deterrent from a dusty environment), which is all about it. The in-house gym, spa, gender-separated jacuzzi are great facilities to check out. E-hailing taxis is not a problem, both to and from the hotel. Food are generally cheaper, and even yummier at the roadside stalls.

Great Hotel Stay
2nd time I stayed in this property. Good staff attitude, from the front office, restaurant and housekeeping and security staff. Always attentive and always meet my expectation eg. simple request for towel change was done within 10mins. After just one sit-in in the restaurant for coffee, the staff seems to recognize the hotel guests and greets. They even joked with the guests. These simple qulities are nice soft skills that even some bigger hotels staff do not practice. The property overall has a nice welcoming ambience, clean rooms and food is average but acceptable. Value for money.
