Silverpoint Still Has My Heart

Posted 2-Jul-2015 on Hotels
it was happy to see and experience the contined charm of Silverpoint after 3yr absence. The front desk staff, Marilene, was as pleasant and funny as ever. The upgrade to the Oceanfront studio was appreciated, especially since I was celebrating my Bday. I invited friends to join me and was happy that they experienced the same courtesy. Bar/waitstaff, Michael/Stacey, were also on POINT!!! The only issue I had was the menu. There has been a change in management and that reflected the menu choices. The food choices seem to cater to foreigners instead of having a more Bajan reflected menu it was focised towards Europeans. This also reflects in the prices. I think the hotel would be able to retain more patrons if they had a mid-priced menu. Ppl such as myself hoo on the local vans and head into town to eat, for a more authentic and cost effective option. Reminder: Oistins on Fridays is and should be your only option. Next time I go back I'll make it a choice to get out to Sugar for clubbing. If you like lazy strippers and so/so DJs go to Rehab. Coming from the US I expected a better party atmosphere at Rehab but came home and hit my bottle LOL . If you want a serene, yet stylish boutique hotel the Silverpoint continues to be where it's at!

Simple hotel in a very nice setting, homely

Got the rest I needed on a stop over. The room was very clean and reasonably well appointed. The staff were welcoming and friendly.

Great views!

Posted 27-May-2015
Excellent views! Room was small but great for a couple. Most of the staff was not friendly. The towel guy had a flat affect and did not greet us or even smiled. He made us return to lo by to get towel cards even though no one else was there and he was just sitting in his post. The reception lady was okay but not conversant. The restaurant servers were better. There was no WiFi at all. Receptionist did not even make an attempt to call the service provider. Overall, it was clean and had great outdoor space to lounge, and relax.

Just for sleeping

Posted 18-May-2015
Pros: Staff was helpful and courteous. Sea side dining at the restaurant. Wind surfing facility next door. Nice breeze.
Cons: Read above in the experience caption
Location: It is not far from the airport. You can take the bus to local eaterys but you have to take a cab to get to entertainment at St. Lawrence Gap
The staff was nice and helpful BUT The room was too small, no, desk, no dresser, iron and ironing board upon request. I was looking for pen and pad. found some paper /no pen. No newspaper to see what was going on, and the room lighting was dim. One waste paper basket for the bathroom and bedroom. Bathroom was small, only one outlet for shaver, no place to hang your towel, a small ledge in the the shower for soap. There was not even any tissues. There was a coffee maker in the room but the coffee was instant. (??) There was no gift shop open, on my last day the gift shop was open, I didn't see anything through the door to go in and shop for. No Ice or vending machines; The restaurant was ok. Certain things on the menu were unavailable and the drinks were overpriced. There was no on site entertainment so you had to leave the facility, a short walk for local transportation or call for a cab. Pictures that I saw on the website are deceiving. The beach is not good for swimming because the water there is rough with strong under current.

Pros: Friendly staff and big rooms.
Cons: The ones across the road are a bit noisy as you hear the staff coming and going.
Good, nice staff and great food. Nice breeze always so it stays cool. Great views of the sea and the kite surfers.

Fell Asleep To The Sound Of Crashing Waves

Posted 7-May-2015
Pros: Dinner and proximity to the beach.
Cons: The lock on the door has seen better days.
Location: I only stayed one night, so can't be much help on this.
This hotel is so close to the sea, that I fell asleep to the sound of waves crashing on to the beach. Before that, dinner was fantastic - perfect rum punch to start and bread pudding with ice cream to finish, but I've already forgotten what the starter and main course were.
