There are lots of steps at this apartment and it was not easy to find the actual front door but once we got inside, it was quite lovely. We really enjoyed the restaurants and the access to everything being so close by. Very walkable. Enjoyed Acadia National park and visiting the port area for tours. Lots of great restaurant options very close by. I highly recommend this property more as kid friendly than adult retreat. House is clean and the gate at the top of the stairs is a great feature if you have kids. My only recommendation for future guest is, while they have a TV it’s DVD only. Bring your own DVDs. It seemed sufficient from the fotos but honestly didn’t have super high expectations. It is simple but all the furnishings are stable, well thought out and good quality. There are enough second hand/antique items to give it character without being tacky. A lot of vacation rentals can feel rather soulless but this felt like a beloved family vacation spot. We did not use the kitchen much as we had only 1 takeout meal here, but it seemed to have everything one would need for cooking a meal in. The property otherwise had everything we needed. The location makes for an easy walk to Cottage and Main Streets. Parking was easy and just outside the unit. There are stairs to this unit as it is on the second floor, so we appreciated the locking gate at the top and the protected windows throughout. This was our first time to Bar Harbor and this 2nd floor accommodation was perfect. We have 2 teenaged girls and a younger boy. Our son loved all the toys and games that were available. There’s a storage space that was set up as a play area and he loved going in there. The space was clean and offered all the comforts of home. There were plenty of extra towels, linens, and toiletries. The home is very family friendly and the host has taken extra precautions with a gate at the top of the stairs along with protective coverings in front of the windows. All the appliances are in great condition. With all the different restaurants close by, we did not cook meals except for breakfast. The location was perfect. We were able to park out front of the place. There’s a grocery store within walking distance. It’s a 5 minute walk to the waterfront area, shopping and restaurants. The trail to Bar Island is a 2 minute walk. We also felt the area was very safe and well lit. We allowed our teenagers to walk around even at dark. We loved our stay and would 100% stay there again!
