Our home will no doubt delight you in the details. Whether you want to ski your heart out or cuddle up and read your book while gazing at the gorgeous view-- our home will provide the perfect getaway for you and your family. We bought this home in 2010 because we fell in love with what was advertised as a 'Million Dollar View'. Boy, were they right!! The sunset is awe inspiring. We gutted the house, built an addition to double the size of the home-- and now bring our 3 kids to enjoy skiing, sledding, and mountain hiking. Our home is just 1 mile from the entrance to the Beech Mtn ski slopes and 2 miles to the Fred's General Store at the top of the mountain. Use of Beech Mtn Club: Renters can enjoy using our membership\* at the Beech Mtn Club for swimming, golfing, etc. There is a form that you are required to fill out with a list of all of the names and ages of the guests in your party, and you will pay your fees directly to the Club for your daily passes depending on your activities. \*Please note that Beech Mtn Club only allows usage for rentals 30 days or more. When you make your booking, please request this form if you wish to use the Beech Mountain Club amenities. \*It has to be submitted to the club admin at least 3 days prior to your arrival or they will not be able to process your request for passes. Our membership only gets you access to the club-- you will need to pay daily fees for activities that you wish to engage in. Swimming passes are currently $15 per day per person. Please contact the club directly for golf, tennis. etc. fees as they vary depending on your activity: (828) 387-4717 Now to the details: In 2022 we installed central A/C & heat in our home as the summers are getting a bit warm for a few hours in the middle of the day. We hope our summer guests enjoy this new feature. Our home can accommodate 7 people. The Master bedroom has a super comfortable king size bed-- with his and hers mattresses to promote a peaceful night of sleep. A flatscreen TV and ensuite bathroom provide a chance to sneak away for quiet time and relaxation. The master opens right out to the sunroom where the sunset views are incredible. One guest bedroom has 1 Queen bed and 1 Twin. One guest bedroom has 1 Queen bed. The open living plan has a large dining table with 8 chairs, bar with 3 stools, and a dual fireplace viewed from both the eating area and the living room. The living room is very comfortable and steps out onto our enclosed sunroom for wonderful afternoon relaxation. The back deck has comfortable rockers to take in that beautiful view. Drink your coffee or wine on the deck and watch the sun rise or set. AMAZING VIEWS! Please note that we do not have an outdoor grill at our home. Our entire home is on 1-level, which is great for people that find it tough climbing stairs. We have off-street parking for 2 vehicles, and there are about 6 steps down onto the walkway to our front door. For wintertime guests, please know that Beech Mountain requires that you have a 4-wheel drive vehicle during the winter months. They do plow the roads frequently during snowfall, but please do not attempt driving up the mountain during the winter without the appropriate vehicle. Please understand that you are booking a home in the mountains-- not a 5-Star resort. The house was clean, cozy and obviously the landlord takes care of it very well. The check-in was easy and the landlord was very responsive. The only thing I would recommend is to have a bigger/better water heater as we used both baths at the same time and the hot water ran out quickly. It has the western sunset so in the winter that is perfect in the summer not so much as it is pretty hot When we got there, the AC was not working and did not work for two days. The owner was very responsive however she couldn’t get somebody Out there the same day and of course it was hot because it was summer. I gave it a four star overall Because there were other issues that were not kept up in the house These were basic maintenance issues. The tub didn’t drain. The floors are buckling. The furniture is worn. Half of the blinds were broken and we couldn’t open up the windows when the AC did not work. It was pretty clean. It just needed a lot of TLC. Would definitely rent this place again if we come back with no family although It would have slept six (3 couples) comfortably. Short drive in to downtown Beech and not much farther into Banner Elk. Many good restaurants to choose from (Stonewalls, Sorrento’s, and Alpen Inn among others). ##### Dave M. The views were gorgeous and the home was very comfortable. Julianne went above and beyond to check in on us and meet our needs. There was nothing better than sitting out on the deck with a cup of coffee and take in the scenery. Communication with the property manager was excellent and very attentive. Located on back side of mountain, about five minutes from town. Checking in and out was really easy. Really smart lockbox rule that ended up saving us. If you're not used to "winter" and are from Florida like us, would suggest bringing a few extra blankets. However, the view was absolutely unbelievable. Loved having us all together around the fireplace. Would definitely be back! ##### Lizandra C. Other than the view, we most appreciated the one level home. Many are actually 3-level. The ease of entry - many have many stairs just to enter. We loved the privacy. You could not see or hear other homes around. Surprisingly towards the end of August, it was too warm to justify using the fireplace in the evening but we enjoyed every other aspect of the house. A hundred mile view over trimmed trees. Well-kept and equipped house, easy to live in. We visited Laurel Creek Falls, swam and jumped. Ask the locals what they call the falls. We rode at Dutch Creek Stables, a return to an earlier time. Our seven and nine year-olds loved it. n.b. Update your Garmin before you drive. Waze seems to work. Went went to ski but unfortunately we’re unable to as all stores ran out of equipment (before 9am). The reason I did not give 5 stars was because of housekeeping. It appeared that the housekeeping crew had not washed the covers in the primary. When I reached out to Julianne, she was prompt, gracious, and kind about the situation. It is fairly well equipped, however would benefit from new mattress covers, sheets, a sharp knife or two and better TV programming, which was bare bones during our stay. There are no closets in two of the bedrooms. Our primary concern was the smell of grease, which was overwhelming when we first arrived. We had to open windows! There is no ventilation to the outside in the kitchen (or with the fireplace that we could tell). The owner was very nice and responded quickly to some questions we had. The property was not advertised to be 5 star but it does need some work,. even at the current reasonable price. ##### Brooks S. They weren’t lying that the view is amazing. It is spectacular. The owners have done their best to organize and label the space. Too bad their property manager takes advantage of having an absentee landlord and ruined the entire experience for us. We arrived late Friday evening and found there were no kitchen trash bags. The owner quickly coordinated having the property manager arrive 30 minutes later with replacements. While waiting, I found there were no paper towels but was told by the property manager when she arrived they were not provided and I could buy some at the local grocery store. No big deal, I can handle buying a roll of paper towels. The wheels fell off when we found all of the glasses and mugs had hardened food crust on them. When I tried to clean them, I found there was no dish soap to wash them. Silverware also had food residue left on them. When making dinner, I found the majority of the cookware was also dirty with food residue and oddly enough human hair. Even worse? The cast iron skillet was crusted with burnt food residue that turned my cooking oil black. BLACK. Sitting down for dinner at the table, my daughter put her elbows on the table only to yelp because there was broken glass on the table which cut her arm. I also stepped on a shard of glass in the kitchen later that night. Suspecting that nothing in the kitchen resembled cleanliness, we loaded the dishwasher and crossed our fingers. Apparently the dishwasher doesn’t actually clean the dishes. It just rinses them. That explains why all the dishes and silverware were dirty. Apparently, the property manager just puts the dishes away without checking them, doesn’t wipe down surfaces or sweep the floor. It’s unfortunate because the beds are comfortable and the view is amazing. Regardless, we are definitely never booking this place ever again. ##### Erica M. It’s even prettier and more spacious than the pictures give it credit for. It was everything we needed with plenty of room and lots of bright light with the vaulted ceiling and large windows, and it has an amazing view for miles and miles. It faces the west, so you a breathtaking sunset each night. The sunroom was perfect when it was too cold or windy to enjoy the deck, but you can still get to soak up the peaceful view. It was clean, well stocked, and all the crucial information you may need is well documented and given to you in advance.
