Our cabin comes fully furnished and with all the comforts of home with a Queen size bed along with a blow up mattress (if needed) and free Wi-fi with streaming TV. The kitchen comes with all cooking essentials needed for a relaxing night in after a long day of adventure. You will be directly across from Sugar Mountain and a short drive to Beech Mtn, Linville Falls and Grandfather Mtn State Park. Relax and unwind by the wood burning fireplace or on the deck overlooking nature with a backdrop of the slopes. We arrived to a unit that had not been cleaned after prior guests, forcing us to clean the property ourselves during peak holiday week with no alternative lodging available.The heating was inadequate for winter conditions. One unit produced little to no heat, and the secondary unit could not maintain safe indoor temperatures. Indoor temps dropped to the low–mid 50s overnight while outside temperatures were below zero. We slept fully layered, blocked drafts with towels, and I left at 3 a.m. to buy firewood out of concern for my family’s safety.Backdoor lock did not work. Looking at prior reviews, it appears this had been a concern previously that was still never addressed. Basic supplies for the fireplace, including fire starters, were missing, requiring another trip out in severe weather. When these concerns were raised, the owner’s responses became defensive and escalating, rather than focused on resolution.We ultimately left early due to safety concerns. The owner agreed in writing to refund the final night, then later reversed that decision, offering shifting explanations after checkout.The property may have potential, but winter readiness, cleanliness standards, and professional, good-faith communication from the owner need major improvement. I would not recommend this property for cold-weather stays or for families expecting reliable support. ##### mike h. We got in very late and had trouble getting into the condo and then it was very cold and no one had turned the heat on. Once we got a hold of the host he got us into the condo and then told us how to get the heat going. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean. We loved the balcony and the owner communication was great. There was a little bit of a musty smell, but Im very sensitive to smells and always travel with a candle for that reason. After lightning the candle, I didn't notice. We had a hard time figuring out the AC, but we closed the screen door and opened the sliding balcony door and that cooled us off. We would stay here again. ##### chrystal t. The stay would have been perfect had it not been for the very loud dogs overhead in the apartment on top of us and the fact that the heat wouldn't turn off. There was a controller for the thermostat, but it didn't work and the knob on the actual heater was broken off. It was unseasonably warm the weekend we went and after propping the patio door open (to no avail) I had to turn off the breaker just to get the heat to stop. Room was small, but very tidy. Perfect size for me and my daughter for the night. A lamp in the main room would help with lighting. Currently just the ceiling fan over the bed and the small recessed lighting in the kitchen, so it was hard to play games etc. The dogs could be heard clambering around until about 10pm, so not an issue if you stay out late, but not great for a young child. Appreciated the book with restaurant suggestions and the distance to different places being included. Bear theme was very cute. ##### Heather G. The condo was easy to find, central to Banner Elk and ski/ hiking areas in the region. Perfect size space for a couple or solo stay. There are some steps to deal with so just be sure you're able to walk on stairs easily. I'm sure the view is great in winter but while there the trees were still very green. The host Eric was gracious and easy to reach. The space was quiet and comfortable. If you like to cook or eat in, bring some paper plates as there isn't a lot of dishware. We enjoyed the convenience to Sugar Mtn, and the wood burning fireplace. The host was super accommodating and very quick with responses to questions. The pictures were pretty accurate. It was neat and tidy and had been recently cleaned (the towels were even still warm). It’s small, just big enough for one or two but if you’re not planning on doing much more than having a place to rest and sleep after a long day of skiing or hiking this is perfect. Eric was a great host and very engaged. No complaints from me, but as another review mentioned be aware that it is in an apartment complex with another apt above and you can hear the people moving around very easily. So if it would bother you to hear people moving around at early or later hours this might not be for you. Overall, I really enjoyed the stay and would definitely choose to come back here. ##### Shannon G.
