We are located in the Village of Sugar Mountain, just west of Boone and Blowing Rock and only a few miles from the charming town of Banner Elk. Our condo is within walking distance of fun activities in any season: the ski resort (locker rental is included), skating, and tubing runs in winter; tennis courts and a scenic golf course from spring to fall, and mountain biking trails in summer. Other nearby attractions include the Wilderness Run Alpine Coaster, Grandfather Mountain, Linville Falls, abundant hiking trails, zip-lining, The Land of Oz, Price Lake/Moses Cone and other popular spots along the Blue Ridge parkway. The nearby towns offer unique restaurants, shops to explore, live music and entertainment, multiple wineries and breweries, greenway trails, and farms. No matter what your interests, this location has it all. Ours is a quiet end unit around a beautiful wooded lot with golf course views and a mountain stream, and is a lovely place for a retreat. Drive 5 minutes out of the village to find restaurants, shopping, and grocery stores, or stay put, relax and enjoy the sounds of nature from the covered deck. The condo is tastefully decorated with a warm and inviting ambience. High-speed internet and cable TV will keep you connected, while the fully-equipped kitchen is inviting for cooks. The unit is on one floor with two roomy bedrooms and a living room with a pull-out sofa. The master bedroom has a connecting bathroom and there is a second full bathroom across from the guest bedroom. Both bedrooms contain TV’s and queen-sized beds. Perfect for two couples or a small family. From the moment we drove into the little Sugar Mountain Village we knew we had found something special! There are nearby grocery stores, towns and we ended up getting to ski (first time for our family) which was such an incredible spontaneous adventure. Having this rental so close and not having to wait for transportation or drive far away was so nice. The bed was comfy and I loved the heater in the bathroom! The home away from home unit is set up with easy convenience in mind for renters, as labels lead you to exactly what you are seeking, as well as the unexpected find of generous everyday items you may have forgotten to pack, and are thoughtfully provided for guests. The relaxing deck with mountain views, song birds, and a stream below is the perfect way to begin, or end each wonderful day! The attentive owners are quick to respond to any questions you may have, and also offer excellent advice regarding area attractions. The photos and description of the rental space are on-point, it is very clean, and is exactly what you will find when you walk through the front door. One thing that did surprise me was the quiet calm of the neighborhood, where nature is clearly the star of this mountainside retreat! POINTS OF INTEREST: \* If you are here to ski, you can walk home for lunch in mere minutes. I’m not athletic, and it was an easy walk for me. \*If you’re craving carbs try Bella’s Italian Restaurant (3585 Tynecastle Highway). It’s casual dining that won’t break the bank while serving up amazing calzones, and perfect pizzas. \* If you need a break from winter activities, the Blue Ridge Parkway is nearby, and the word beautiful does not do the national parkway justice! \*Blowing Rock Park is seven dollars per person, and is worth the visit with easy parking, lovely views, a short trail down the mountain, friendly resident felines, and a quaint coffee shop. \*The town of Beech Mountain is only minutes away and features a cozy picturesque town on top of a mountain, complete with a ski resort. \*The Mast General Store in Valle Crucis is definitely worth the short drive from the condo, if you are looking for cool keepsakes. The hoodies run small, so you may want to buy one size larger. \*If waterfalls are on your destination wish list, look no further than Linville Falls just a few miles away. It’s a moderately easy walk (the trail is a bit rocky in some parts, and the last part of the hike after the gorge overlook, is uphill) to see the gorge and waterfall, and well worth the trip. \*The Pedalin’ Pig BBQ restaurant has excellent food, great service, and fair prices. There may be a small wait, but it’s worth it! ##### Celeste S. We visited in December with our two young boys and enjoyed the close proximity to skiing and ice skating. The home was well decorated, extremely clean, organized and comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook dinners in and we loved the cozy fireplace. We hope to visit again! ##### Courtney G. We came for an APP State football game, the drive was about 25 min but super easy and beautiful. The condo is well laid out with plenty of seating in the living room. This condo was exactly what the pictures looked like online. It also was extremely clean which was huge for this OCD chick. The fireplace was wonderful for the cold nights and the location was perfect for us since we planned on spending most of our time in Blowing Rock for a girls weekend.
