The main level boasts a living room with cathedral ceiling, a wall of windows with gorgeous mountain views, a stone gas-log fireplace, leather sofa, 32-Inch satellite HDTV with DVD player and VCR, and hardwood floors, a dining area, a beautiful fully-equipped kitchen with granite countertops, a bathroom with shower, a covered front porch with gas grill, and a large deck with porch swing and hot tub overlooking the beautiful mountain views. Upstairs are a bedroom with king bed and satellite TV with DVD player, a bedroom with a pillowtop queen bed, a full bathroom with tub/shower combo, and a loft area with a chair and an ottoman. The lower level has a large room with a corner/masonry fireplace, flat screen TV with DirectTV and DVD player, a full size leather sleeper sofa, a round dining/checker board/poker 3-in-1 game table, a bathroom with a beautifully tiled shower (no tub), a set of twin bunk beds, and built in book shelves and cabinets. There are also sliding doors leading to a large deck with views of Hawksnest Mountain. With lots of windows and natural lighting, this tastefully furnished and beautifully decorated cabin provides for the perfect mountain getaway. Conveniently located between Boone and Banner Elk you will be close to all High Country attractions. Come and enjoy the beautiful mountain atmosphere here at the Apple! ADDITIONAL NOTES: \- This Property, Located at over 4100' Elevation, has NO Air Conditioning on the top level. There is central AC on the main level. \- All BRMR homes offer well stocked kitchens with all utensils needed to cook meals. There is also a "starter set" of paper products at the house: a roll of toilet paper per bath, several garbage bags, a small vial of dishwashing liquid, a few tablets of dishwasher detergent, some laundry pods, a roll of paper towels, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and some makeup remover cloths. There are enough of these items for one night, or maybe two. We do not provide hair dryers. Towels and linens will be provided \- Check in is after 4pm and check out is by 10am \- Must electronically sign an additional Rental Agreement Terms and Conditions and any Neighborhood Rules sent by Host (property manager) or entry information cannot be sent. \- Must be at least 25 years old to reserve. This person is required to be the person signing the agreement and must be one of the persons staying in the property for the reserved dates. \- No smoking inside the home. No trace of smoking left outside the home. \- Do not leave food or trash outside as it could attract animals. All trash must be bagged and placed in the trash receptacle indicated in the Welcome Book inside the house or your digital guidebook. \- No parties or gatherings above the posted occupancy allowed at any time. Keep outside noise respectable. \- 4WD/AWD and/or chains recommended during winter (Nov-March) for all homes. Travelers visiting during the winter months where inclement weather may be possible should come prepared with an AWD or 4WD vehicle, and chains may also be required if it snows. No refunds, allowances, or date changes will be given to travelers who are not prepared with the proper vehicle, as outlined in the Rental Agreement. \- This home allows up to 4 mature, well-trained dogs with an additional pet rent of $25 per pet per night plus tax. Pets other than dogs are not permitted. CANCELLATION POLICY – Bookings canceled 60+ days before arrival will receive a refund of the deposit. Bookings canceled within 59 days of the arrival are not entitled to a refund unless the reservation dates are rebooked to another guest. All bookings are subject to a $50 cancellation fee. We only heard nature while we were there. It is easily accessible to surrounding towns like Boone, Blowing Rock and Valle Crusis. The hot tub was a major draw for us and it was very nice. My husband would have liked stronger jets but I'm fine just soaking so the mild jets were a compromise for us. There were a few things inside the cabin that need to be addressed. One of the beds upstairs needs an immediate mattress replacement. It is not able to function as a bed in its current state. (My husband and I sleep separately so he had to go downstairs to the bunkbeds which isn't ideal for a grown man!) We booked this house in part because it had two bedrooms with nice sized beds. So this was a disappointment. Also, the television in the den is placed way too high for comfortable viewing. It would be nice to have some type of shade to pull down if viewing the TV in the afternoon as the sun shines directly into the house. Don't get me wrong, we loved the sunsets but were not able to watch tv until it was dark. You will definitely need 4-wheel or all wheel drive in the winter as it's a climb to get there, but so worth it! ##### Paula C. We loved the views and the property was well maintained. Quiet little neighborhood on Grandfather with plenty of privacy, and we saw many deer and a few wild turkeys. Bathrooms were clean, and the house was well stocked with cleaning supplies, kitchen items, and laundry supplies. Great for if you plan on coming with a larger group and need to make meals at the house.When we first arrived had an error getting our door code to work, and Angie at the Blue Ridge Rentals main office was very kind and helped us get a working code right away over the phone, and even texted after to make sure we were OK. Only critique is that some of the couches/chairs in the home are pre-loved and have seen better days— Could maybe use some TLC or a re-upholstering. Overall, the cabin is very nice, well equipped and comfortable, with great Mountain View. Downsides include lack of screens on upstairs windows and no air conditioning on second floor, lack of seating on deck where the great view is and totally unusable sofa bed on lower level. Description says it sleeps 8, but without the use of the sleeper sofa, it really is more like six and that’s using bunk beds that are not all that stable. ##### Bruce S. Private yet a short drive to everything. Adorable home. Great location. Convenient to all major attractions. Kitchen has everything you need. Beautiful views from the living room and porches. Management company was very easy to work with. My only major complaint and the reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is the Master bedroom mattress is in desperate need of being replaced. It's compete mush and sunken in. Couch in basement is in rough shape as well. Very difficult to sit in as you practically sink to the floor. Other than that I highly recommend this home. The views were incredible and the location for what we wanted was perfect. It was VERY high up in the mountain and absolutely requires a car with 4 wheel drive and/or chains in the winter. We visited in early January and had snow 2 out of the 5 days we were there. Around the house there was snow that was at least 2 feet deep. Being so high up was wonderful because the snow doesn't really melt. It takes about 10 minutes to get fully down the mountain from the house, about 5 minutes longer if it was snowing or the road wasn't freshly cleared. There were only a few neighbors around and none of them looked to be occupied. There was so much land to walk around, hike and of course snow sledding (which the property had 3 for us which was such a wonderful added bonus). The cabin has pretty much everything you could ask for including a great 3rd level lounge area with so many books, games, fireplace and a card table. The kitchen is large/spacious and has a gas oven/stove. The fireplaces in the cabin are all gas, which was nice being not too familiar with lighting a real fire and having to worry about getting dry wood. The only non-wonderful comment that I can make on the cabin is that the upstairs rooms are a little small and the bathroom upstairs is a little dated, neither of these would prevent me from booking this cabin again. Both rooms had comfortable beds and clean linens. I cannot recommend this cabin enough for a smaller family or even two couples. Our family agreed based on this visit that an annual trip is a must and we will absolutely be back! ##### Lacey R. Stayed 4 nights in Jan 2021 ### 8/10 Good #### Sue M. After calling number provided for service with no answer, we later emailed Tonya Hawkins from your Hospitality team and received a response the next day. A service man replaced the broken fireplace switch and provided a remote. He also explained how to work fireplace downstairs (worked via unmarked wall thermostat?), and replaced toilet seat. Written operating instructions for downstairs fireplace would have been helpful. He made note of damaged plug since he did not have replacement with him. Wine openers damaged and did not work. We could not open trash can outside, instructions on can not readable, need instructions inside house, not just on can left outside. We were frustrated to have an email telling us the house was ready and INSPECTED, whoever inspected did a very poor job! Although very clean, items not working should have been part of inspection. Again, the main fireplace electronic on/off switch was in pieces on top of the mantel, should have been obvious when inspecting. Serviceman was very helpful and much appreciated. Once fireplace worked we enjoyed our chilly stay very much! ##### Sue M. Positives View-spectacular Location-quiet and away from neighbors Cleanliness Spa was clean and bleached As stated one set of towels per person Bathrooms nicely cleaned, bedrooms too. Kitchen nicely cleaned Comfort Adequate space for 4 adults and two children and dog Negatives TV worked sporadically (picture good for 2 minutes, then would lose signal) called in after arrival (Saturday at 6:00 pm) and did not receive a response. King bed mattress needs replacement Queen mattress needs replacement, was so soft, sank in the middle and difficult to get out. Also, my daughter and her husband ended up on in the bunk beds. Mattresses should be replaced.. Top priority in a rental should be renters comfort. Called in fridge handle loose on arrival day, did not receive a call back. The afternoon sun from the western exposure is brutal in the evening. Though we saw a message to cleaners saying a window reflective film was applied in May. At least owner has been made aware and is trying to correct. Our rental was Jul 15-22, air conditioning is advertised, basement remained cool, but main level and top floor were very uncomfortable. King bedroom had a ceiling fan, but Queen bedroom did not which made sleeping very uncomfortable. Finally, we found an envelope in kitchen while cleaning up before leaving. It was for cleaning services to tip the cleaners. I've rented through VRBO, Home Away and others for a weekly rental over the years. We are charged a fee for cleaning in our contract why would we be left an envelope to provide a tip for a service performed once after leaving? ##### Pat L. The view was better than expected and even though you feel away from everything you’re only a 10-15 minute drive down the mountain to all kinds of activities and dining options. We had no trouble getting there in a sedan during the warm months although you will see why they require 4x4 or chains in the winter. We have stayed at three cabins in the last year and this is the first one that I would book again.
