The cottage is done up to a superb standard, and was lovely and clean. Tomintoul is a quaint village, with some great walks through the gorgeous surrounding countryside direct from the doorstep. Restaurants and the pub were a short walk away (oct is the end of the season for many store/business owners. The Whiskey Castle was closed but we were happy to step in the pub for some whiskey sampling there). We enjoyed building a fire in the wood stove and watching a movie on Netflix at the end of the evening after a full day of sightseeing and activities. My dad did NOT want to leave at all haha. There’s everything we needed within walking distance and the host was so kind. We had a little bit of issue finding the house, our gps would only pull up #9 on Main St not #8 so we had to use our heads a little more lol, but literally that was the only issue. The cottage came as billed. It was relatively comfortable, although the furniture and beds are more serviceable than super comfortable. Not having the drying machine was a drawback. Tomintoul itself is small - few restaurants and only basic supplies at the Post Office. Again, that was billed in the information. Communicating with Alisa was straightforward. In all, the cottage was safe and clean but if you are looking for a spot with more services Tomintoul is probably not for you. ##### Paul L.
