Where do I start! First, let me start by saying the staff were amazing! Anything you need, just let them know; they are overly accommodating! This trip was a birthday trip for my other half so I booked the flower bath and had them bring a cake to our room. Not only did they make sure everything had gone smooth, they sung Happy Birthday as they delivered the cake. He was head over hills, lol! The floating breakfast was also amazing! Decent food, too! Next!!! The room is GORGEOUS!!!! The way you enter the room is flawless. Nevertheless, I felt like a king entering his palace as I walked in. The private pool was everything! I just can’t get enough of this place. Let me just say, this is home! No one else can have my business.

Great stay
Even before we arrived the resort was helping us organise our stay. The staff certainly make this resort. They are clearly very proud and have every reason to be. We stayed in a double pavilion with friends, we had a great space to spend time together and enough privacy for times in between. The private pool was huge. The spa was excellent, the treatments were amazing. Do yourself a favour and book something, anything! The use of the resort car for local trips is genius and made things very easy. The restaurant was able to adapt to our dietary requirements and even went off menu for us. Adults only meant peace and quiet. Highly recommended.

Staff redefine hospitality from friendly to TALENTED. The housekeeping, front desk, kitchen and management were like nothing I've ever experienced before. We felt at home! The photos don't do this beautiful property justice. Easily one of the top properties in Bali, amazing value.

This place was hands down one of the best stays i have ever had. The Bale was incredibly luxurious and private. The service was impeccable with anything we ever needed they would be there instantaneously. The App with all your needs and services was very convenient and easy to use, more hotels need to look into this service as it was so easy to text our butler with anything ever needed. The private beach club was great. The service at the private beach club with the box with water, sunscreen, cooling gel and mister was a great touch and made it seem like the whole beach was just for us. The rooms and the private in villa pool is absolutely incredible. I will be recommending this all family and friends to stay and if back in Nusa dua, we will be staying here again!

It is a great place to stay. Lovely villa and especially the private pool. Staff are delightful and really look after you. The spa was the highlight for us...First class in every respect! Breakfasts in villa are great with plenty of choices. Other restaurants ok but plenty of choice nearby as well.

Best honeymoon ever
We spent the last four nights of our honeymoon at The Balé. We were welcomed by the general manager and got a welcome drink and a complimentary 15 minute massage. It was the perfect start of a great stay. Amazing property, beautiful and spacious villa, great service, wonderful food and drinks. Complimentary shuttle service to and from the beach, as well as all over Nusa Dua area, was very nice. The Tapa restaurant belonging to the hotel cooked up some mouthwatering tapas and the cocktails were out of this world. We would definitely come back. Thank you for your hospitality! Our room was fantastic! It was very private, comfortable, and spacious. The spa/dinner benefit was a great perk. The service was outstanding. The only downside is that the area isn’t walkable, but local transportation was provided by the Bale and they made it very convenient.

From the moment we checked in to our last minute at the Balé, it was all first class. Staff at restaurant (faces) are people we would now consider family as they treated us as such. Food and beverage led by Chef Nadi is superb in your pavilion or in the restaurant blew our minds of the flavors and presentation of true Balinese cooking, fresh and delicious. Our pavilion had all the amenities we could wish for and more. If you need anything just ask and the staff will accommodate so warmly. There are a lot of extras that we didn’t expect like how they refused to let us pay for taxis. They drove us anywhere we wanted that was close by and asked if we needed to stop anywhere along the way. The staff here gives you the true meaning of Balinese culture and hospitality. We took advantage of the spa (5*) and cooking tour & class (5*) by the executive chef.

Big architecture, a little too minimalist
The Bale is a bit too big in terms of its design and architecture for its own good - the public spaces feel more like civic spaces (like say within a public park) than a luxury hotel, and there is no sense of cosiness you'd normally get with a 5* boutique hotel with only about 30 rooms. I like minimal, but this is slightly spooky! Our deluxe pavillion was very spacious, but facilities (tv, stereo system) were slightly dated. Numerous gekkos call out throughout the night, about 1 metre from your ear as you lie in bed - this could easily be irritating, but I love gekkos and it was a bit like a grandfather clock, chiming the time. The food was very good - Tapa restaurant had good quality and variety for casual eats, and Faces was sophisticated and elegant. Choice, quality, price and quantity were all good. We were on half board, and between breakfast & evening meal, we had no space for lunch! Our package also offered a free bar 6pm-8pm each day (which we didn't know when we booked, but which was a major plus - very wide choice of cocktails, spirits, beers and wines on offer, great!). The spa treatments were very good, and sensibly priced. All in all, a great place to retreat to for a romantic getaway, if you don't expect much interaction with other guests and you can shake the feeling that everything is on too large a scale. The town of Nusa Dua itself we found underwhelming and not worth the effort.

The minimalist architecture of The Balé finds a great appreciation for couples who are looking for a romantic place for their privacy,far from large crowds. For your next visit to Bali, I recommend that you consider the option of our second hotel in Menjangan, which is located in the west of Bali, which is an eco-resort and not so minimalistic in its architecture and more approximate to nature due to its wooden structures. Bali has many wonderful places worth discovering. Lifestyle Retreats has 6 hotels located in different corners of this wonderful island. HOME AWAY FROM HOME
I did hesitate initially to travel alone over the Xmas/New Year Holidays, however the kind and caring staff at The Bale, made we feel safe and secure immediately. The kindness, hospitably and genuine desire to fulfil my every request was astonishing. The staff at The Bale made we feel as if I was living in my own home and not a hotel room. In particular, Riska, Ras and Ari were brilliant and of course Andrea the General Manager showed outstanding levels of service. Thank you for making by week stay so enjoyable. The 2 restaurants, The Face (more formal dining) and Tapa ( more casual bistro dining/bar) both offered a good balance between local Balinese, Thai and Western dishes. All were very tasty and well presented. The Spa was great. Again excellent selection of treatments with highly skilled therapists. I love beaches on holidays and although The Bale is not beach front, the clean, picturesque, quiet Geger Beach is a 10 minute walk from the resort. The Bale do offer a complimentary shuttle transfer should you not want to walk. There is a private fenced off area on the beach for The Bale residents which was appreciated, however the staff attending to this area were rarely there to assist apart from the initial entrance to provide complimentary beach towels, sun screen, water, etc. The staff tended to disappear mostly after this initial meeting which was at times disappointing. The private area became less private when other non-guests took the opportunity to enter.

The entry area of the hotel is terrible and you won’t feel welcome. We thought we in the stuff entry. Villas are huge but with a bad moisture smell and quite run down already.

Although I thank you for your feedback, I am sadden to acknowledge that you didn’t feel welcomed by the minimalistic architecture of the hotel which is, in fact, one of our most praised aspects. The Balé was indeed Bali’s first minimalistic hotels and a true icon in the island which has been used as an example by many other hotels that have followed the purity of the materials, flow of energy and water features that can be found around the resort. The design combines unique materials such as the beautiful local white limestone for the walls and traditional Balinese thatched roofs made of natural Alang Alang. The advantage of these roofs is that they allow for a natural airflow very much needed in tropical climates. Of course, during the rainy season, when there is more rain than usual, the wet Alang Alang displays a unique smell similar to that of wet hay, but in no case it is a sign of mold or moisture. I am sorry that this peculiar smell caused you some nuisance. Despite this inconvenience, I hope that you were able to enjoy some good moments at The Balé through our lovely Family members (as we like to call our team members) or when enjoying the gastronomy or the hotel facilities. Should you grant us a second chance, I would recommend you to visit us during the dry season (June to September) to avoid the rainy season nuisances. Disappointing hotel fantastic staff. Service was sensational. Rooms are old and not well maintained. Doors don't close properly and thus let all manner of insects into the room. Had to disinfect the room before sleeping every night. We did tell staff about our issues. They were extremely sympathetic and did whatever they could to address the changes. Management was also excellent in offering compensation.

Although I am pleased to acknowledge your high degree of satisfaction with the service provided by our Family members (as we like to call our devoted staff members who devote a true passion into every task they perform on a daily basis, highly motivated by our “PassionForLife” vision), I am less pleased with the dissatisfaction expressed through a lower scoring on the review. We regularly carry-out scheduled maintenance in all our villas as well as in all public areas. We will for sure check the wooden sliding doors as occasionally they might get slightly ill-fitted due to the weathering and humidity issues of the typical Balinese weather. Additionally, we carry-out regular fogging all around the resort to control the proliferation of mosquitoes. However, being a tropical island and being in the middle of the rainy season, it is common to find some small insects, especially in the gardened areas. As such, it is recommended to avoid leaving the Pavilion doors open during extended periods of time and mosquito plugs as well as insect repellent is available in each Pavilion for our guests to use at any time. Additionally, every night during the turndown service our Housekeeping Family members ensure all Pavilion doors are properly closed, deploys the bed mosquito nets and sprays mosquito spray around the room for the comfort of our guests. Once again, thank you for your feedback and we hope that despite the inconvenience of the insects, you had a lovely stay in Bali and that you brought home lovely memories. It was a great little private gateway. Very quiet and highly recommended for Honeymooners. The only negative was on our last day, the manager convinced us to attend a Satay dinner with entertainment event at the hotel restaurant and we got food poisoning before our 15h flight back home. They probably undercooked the chicken satay or cross contaminated the meat. It made our last day of our honeymoon quite unpleasant.

Stunning hotel with impeccable service.
André and his staff were so welcoming and helpful. Could not do enough to make your stay as stress-free and as luxurious as possible. The villa was amazing, food was delicious and as mentioned above, the service was impeccable. Oh, and get a massage. Best we've ever had. Would recommend to all couples who want a slice of luxury in a very calm and chilled setting.

Bale Paradise
Our stay at The Bale was perfection! Our villa and private pool was the epitome of simple elegance and luxury. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful and peaceful, we were amazed at how quiet it is at The Bale even though it is so close to the main part of Nusa Dua. We loved having fantastic massages at the spa - my husband got great relief for his injured shoulder and I just blissed out after a fabulous hot rocks experience. The food at Faces restaurant and Tapas is first rate and the daily breakfast is truly something special. We were privileged to attend a special Sate Night which included an open air Sate BBQ along with a local Balinese entertainment of music and dancing. Guests were invited to join in and everyone had a great night. I can also highly recommend a cooking class with the brilliant Chef Nadi, he is so knowledgeable and has a wicked sense of humour. The class includes a trip to Janbaran markets where Chef introduced us to the delights of shopping in the fresh food and seafood stalls - truly a highlight of our trip as we learned so much about how to choose ingredients for our Balinese feast. Finally, I must mention the staff of The Bale whose genuine warmth and friendliness made our stay at The Bale so memorable- we were blown away by the generosity of their hospitality. Do yourself a favour and make a booking.

Great relaxing break, service best in Asia. There is no view from the accommodation and we didn't venture to the beach as we only stayed 3 nights. Was perfect for a real relaxation with 5+ star service.

A very pleasant holiday
The staff at the Bale are exceptional. From check in through to additional requests with the Butler service - everything was hassle free and a pleasure The upgraded villa was beautiful. If you were incredibly picky you could point out small floors and parts that needed cosmetic fixing - but for what you have and where you are the villa exceeded all expectations. I have read through lots of reviews for this hotel and can agree wholeheartedly that this was a wonderful find and I hope to be able to visit again very soon

Perfect in Paradise
The Villas in The Bale are all lovely. More than ample space even in the smallest, with huge beds and pools that are plenty big enough to swim. A garden to sit out or do your yoga and an enormous "bale" day bed under a canopy. The TVs are big and modern with loads of movie and international channels and the AC is great. The Bale grounds are minimalist style and impeccably clean white stone. Faces Restaurant offers Indonesian and European food at a level to match the very best most expensive hotels and restaurants on the Island but at a cost which is a fraction of Aman. Go for In Villa Dinning and they really make eating in your garden a lovely intimate experience. This is tip top luxury at a surprisingly affordable price.

Stylish & quiet villa life with resort facilities
What a wonderful holiday we had here-7 nights in a villa, with everything we needed in our villa to never leave, but with the added advantage of being in a resort with a resort pool, 2 restaurants, spa and fitness facilities. Our villa was very quiet and comes with a decent sized pool, cabana area, deck lounges for sunbathing, and a stylish and comfortable room and massive ensuite area, complete with large bath and inside and outside showers. The professional staff are well trained and attentive to all your needs. Love this hotel!

One of the best hotel experiences I've had
My wife and I had a fantastic stay at The Bale recently. It was under odd circumstances as the volcano kept most tourists away from the island. As a result, there were few other guests at the property. We received an upgrade to their Deluxe Villa, which was no short of amazing. The staff were extremely attentive and quick to respond to any need. The hotel has a courtesy shuttle that dropped us off at the beach and at a restaurant in Nusa Dua. The courtesy welcome massage was performed by skillful therapists. The breakfast is among the best I've ever had (which is saying something!). They allowed us to check-in early and check-out late. Again, I think this is mostly due to the circumstance around the volcano. But we were very pleased and we agree that this is the best hotel experience my wife and I have ever had. I'd certainly stay there again if I get the chance. I'd highly recommend.

Relaxing and Comfortable
Our stay was very relaxing overall and the staff was very friendly and helpful. However I think the hotel and the rooms can use better upkeep as we could tell that the furnishing has some wear and tear. The food was also decent, however could have a wider selection and offer 24 hour room service as well. We felt nice and relaxed from our stay, and we enjoyed our private pool very much.

Great design, mediocre service
So to start I loved the design of the hotel, it's trendy and modern. We also enjoyed the tapa restaraunt. However, the location is awkward nothing is walkable so you either need to use the free car transportation or a bluebird taxi. The pool was great so was the breakfast. However, the service left much to be desired from the check in to the breakfast, the staff seemed a little forced. I didn't know how to explain but the welcome and warmth wasn't genuine, to sum up I didn't feel any of the famous Indonesian hospitality.

Quiet and perfect for never leaving your villa
The hotel staff were all incredibly friendly and accommodating. The room we were given initially lacked the privacy touted by the resort, but that was easily resolved upon request. It may be due to an off-season visit, but the grounds were very quiet, with no crowds to be found. The villa's are great for a relaxed stay and once you factoring in room service, offer everything you need if looking to lounge around for a long weekend. There is a beach near by, accessed by short walk or golf cart ride, and they resort has a private area next to the more populous public area. As an Expedia+ member, I received a discounted rate on all food and drinks purchased there, which was a nice bonus.

Nice Quite hotel with personal touch
Absolutely relaxing and enjoyable stay. Good size room with private pool and outdoor area where we spent many hours. Our intention was to relax and The Bake provided the optimal environment. The staff lovingly provided complimentary chauffeur services to and from destinations in the Nusa Dua area. Very Handy
