No smoking. . This charming farmhouse cottage in Bala is bursting with character, offering a unique retreat for up to eleven guests. The property is full of historic charm, with exposed beams, a quirky staircase, and uneven floors adding to its rustic appeal.  
  
The cottage features six bedrooms, making it perfect for large families or groups. With three showers, one an en-suite and another with a shower over the bath, there’s ample space for everyone to feel comfortable. The heart of the home is the kitchen/dining room, which is well-equipped for preparing meals, while the living room boasts an inviting wood burner for relaxing evenings in. A separate snug room with a wood burner offers a cosy space to unwind. For entertainment, the property includes a games room in an outbuilding, perfect for some fun during your stay. Adding to the uniqueness of this cottage is a historic motte in the garden, dating back to 1200, once the site of Castell Gronw, a medieval fortification steeped in history.  
  
Located in the heart of Snowdonia National Park, Bala is an outdoor enthusiast’s dream. The area is famous for its stunning natural beauty and wide range of activities. Bala Lake (Llyn Tegid), the largest natural lake in Wales, is just a short walk from the cottage. It’s a hub for water sports, including sailing, kayaking, and windsurfing. For those who prefer a more relaxed pace, the Bala Lake Railway offers scenic steam train rides along the lakeshore, providing spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. The Bala Adventure and Water sports Centre is a must-visit for thrill-seekers, offering everything from canoeing to paddleboarding and white-water rafting. Just a short drive away, you can explore the charming towns of Betws-y-Coed and Dolgellau, known for their picturesque streets, independent shops, and historic bridges.
