Stayed for two nights while visiting Charlevoix area. Handy location on the main road, has lots of parking. Good sized rooms, exceptionally clean. Part of the hotel has been modernized...B building upstairs...rooms were definitely more modern. Short walk into the town of Baie St Paul...ask for directions for nice walk along river path that also saves time. Staff very friendly and helpful. Restaurant opens at 6am if you are leaving early.
We loved L'estampilles! Our room was beautiful and extremely comfortable. The common spaces were elegant, but understated. Natalie and Martin were the perfect hosts! We would go back there in a minute.
It seems that some people have a problem with the location as it is not in the heart of town. We actually found that to be an advantage, as, firstly it was only 5 minutes out of town, and secondly it was quiet. No crowds!
As for the food, to say the breakfast was a gourmet meal, does not give it justice. It was just delicious! Dinner was a gastronomical experience, and quite the memorable dining event.
Lastly, my wife and I were celebrating our 41st wedding anniversary there. It was romantic, relaxing, cozy and warm. We felt so comfortable there. It was a perfect getaway!
On the positive side, staff was great and very friendly. The room was clean and big, lots of space. The beds were very comfy. We liked the motel setting with the ease of parking the car right in front of the door.
But this hotel/motel definitely needs some work, it is very dated and not so pleasing to the eye. The AC/Fan was working but very noisy. The TV remote didn't work. The blinds were missing 3 slats and couldn't open/close. The shower leaked and no matter how careful we were,we would end up flooding the tiny bathroom.
They do have Wifi, but we did not try to connect on it and forget about the "breakfast area", they only have coffee and pre-packaged mini-muffins.
So, the place is ok if you are looking for a place to crash at night, spending most of the day out like we did, but nothing fancy here.
We stayed for one night and had a wonderful time. It was very hot outside but our room was comfy, cozy and the AC was whisper quiet. The biggest surprise was the spa. It was beautiful and very relaxing. The included breakfast was made-to-order and delicious! We highly recommend this place.
The auberge is a little way out of town but well worth the drive. Nice and quiet once you arrive. Beautiful common room and deck. Grounds are inviting and well kept. They even offer a little kitchen which guests can use to make tea, etc. Very good value for your travel dollar.
We enjoyed our stay, the owners were very helpful and informative on activities to do around Baie Saint-Paul. Our room was clean and comfortable. The only drawback is that since this is an old house, the soundproofing is not up to par.
We would go again!
Wow, what an amazing stay! I traveled alone in Charlevoix and stayed at this lovely place for 2 nights. I felt at home right from the start. David is a perfect host, very kind and funny, and prepares the most delicious breakfast in the morning (including home made bread to die for!).
Gîte TerreCiel is located within walking distance of the beach and of the main street where you have all the boutiques and arts shops.
My stay was a highlight for this vacation and I will definitely go back!
Older building but very clean. Sort of quaint and a little bit dated but it's a great location near the water. A bit of a hike to the Baie St. Paul center though. The breakfast buffet was excellent for 7.50 pp. Creton, crêpes, and other typical items you would expect to find in Québec, all very fresh and tasty. A beautiful view of the St. Lawrence river on a morning walk. The staff was friendly and courteous.
