Friendly staff & beautiful views
Motel le Vacancier is a great place to stay to explore the Tadoussac area. The staff are friendly and the location provides uninterrupted views of Baie Saint-Catherine and private beach access just a short drive & ferry ride from Tadoussac. We enjoyed our stay here.

Amazing view next to the river and very relaxing. Its a good option if you want to take the boat to see the whales early in the morning.

It was a clean basic motel perfect for a one night stay to go whale watching on the St Lawrence. The view of the river was beautiful.

Love this location. Motel is outdated but clean. The view from the back of the motel is absolutely breathtaking. They have a fire pit and chairs for your viewing of the ocean around the back. They also have steps taking you down to the beach. The restaurant is located at the first building which serves great breakfast. The only downside is that there is no air conditioning.

Room overlooked the waterfront. Very clean and friendly staff. Decorating is a bit dated but pleasant enough. Door locks are stiff and maybe should be updated.

Great location, hotel staff was nice, and the room was clean. My only complaint was that the walls were a bit thin so I could hear the neighbor's TV really easily through the wall. There is not much to do in Baie Sainte-Catherine so we would go to Tadoussac during the day, but it was nice to stay right on the water. We watched whales and seals right from our porch.

Perfect spot to overlook the St. Lawrence. We unfortunately were on the highway road side but not a.lot of traffic through the night. Great service, good food and close to Saint Catherine e dock to go whale watching.

convenient for whale watching at Baie St Catherine
seafront rooms. quiet, even with the road behind. There are few good food choices in town, I'd go to Chez Sam. The rooms are fine. Its basic motel at basic price.

We had a great time and made a fire while looking out at the view. And it's really quite and peaceful. Best motel ever!!!!

Average Motel on the beach with good restaurant
As far as motels go this was the best one on our eastern Canada trip. Great location if you want to catch a whale watching your and the food at the restaurant was pretty good. You can stroll the beach and there is a general store across the road. Rooms are very basic but all you need for a road trip stop.

The view from the room is beautiful. The environment is tranquil. Dinner and breakfast at the restaurant was good too. We enjoyed our stay and would return again.

We stayed for one night. The best part of the motel is the view. In terms of the rooms I would say it's your average motel room. The rooms were clean and had refrigerators, the in-room coffee could be improved. Wifi is provided in rooms, but the signal is not very strong. We did not check the signal at the main office. There is a path down to a beach right in front of the hotel. There are also lots of chairs and a grassy area to sit and take it all in. The view is great, we would have liked to stay longer simply to take advantage of it. The staff at the hotel front desk were also very welcoming and kind.

Great accommodation in Saguenay!
Our room was spacious, clean and gave us an incredible view of the St. Lawrence! The staff went out of their way to offer assistance and were able to communicate with us in both English and French. The motel is very close to the whale watching tours, Pointe-Noire whale observation centre and the ferry to Tadoussac. Room rates are reasonable. There is more to do in Tadoussac than in Baie Ste Catherine but the room rate and short 10 minute ferry ride make it attractive to stay at this hotel.

Good Location
Location was great because it was close to the departure point for our whale watching trip. However, there was no air conditioning and the room was hot at night. Also, although the motel had wifi, the wifi was located in the office/restaurant which was a separate building from the motel rooms. Consequently you couldn't access the wifi from the room which was about 150 yards away from the office building. The room was clean and the staff friendly.

Overall a good stay and good value for the cost
Stayed for one night after an afternoon of whale watching in Tadoussac. The hotel is dated, but was clean and relatively comfortable. The hotel is right on the water, so the view from just outside our room was very nice. Considering how small of a town this is, and the other options for accommodations, I think it was pretty good for the value. The staff were lovely, with quick service, and they did not give attitude about the fact I did not speak much French. They spoke English effectively and when we ate at the hotel restaurant, even the waitress took the effort to check with the staff about the English titles for the specials. The food was not extravagant, but filling and cooked well. The seafood chowder was the best part. Overall a good stay.

Motel le vacancier is very convenient to the whale-watching tours at Croisieres AML. We stayed in a cabin with two bedrooms and a kitchenette. It was old but clean. The riverside was only a short walk and a staircase away. The sunset was very beautiful. We also ate at the motel's restaurant for supper and breakfast. The food was simple and tasty. I recommend the pouring chomeur.

It was great ti stay there , very quiet , right by the St Laurent , the restaurant had very good entries and meals , people were very nice C etais magnifique comme motel , la vue du St Laurent et a bord du fleuve , le restaurant avais un tres bon menu avec du bon service , Une place ou je resterais pour des vacances pour deux semaines , proche de Tadoussa mais plus tranquille et de toute beaute

What I loved about this motel was the access to the bay side views? It is set up for guests to take full advantage of these views with many chairs. The motel rooms dont have air conditioning and my motel room window was broken. I was offered a fan and I accepted that. The restaurant has friendly staff and the breakfasts are delicious.

Great place to stay for whale watching
Extremely clean. A little outdated but not a problem for me. The hotel property has a small beach with chairs so you can sit at the waters edge to look for whales (we weren't that lucky that we saw them from the hotel but did on our boat tour!). It's right on the main road so was a bit noisy through most of the night given the trucks coming off the ferry. It wasn't enough to fully disturb my sleep but if you are a light sleeper, this probably isn't the hotel for you. The front desk is very friendly. The WIFI did not reach our room which was the one furthest from the office. When I asked about this the lady at the front desk just said yes, the router is down here so it doesn't get to all the rooms. A little surprising but not a big deal since we were in town only for the night with the goal to go whale watching the next morning. We just sat in the lobby for the few minutes we wanted internet. Breakfast was not included since we booked on hotels.com but looked plentiful-a plate of eggs with bacon or sausage, potatoes, toast or croissant and coffee. I would stay there again for sure.

Employees very kind and polite. Rooms were clean but outdated. You could hear the people snoring in the other room. Expensive for what we got. Rooms should have been $70-$80 per night and not $140.00.

Loved the location on the water...bring black fly repellent if sitting out.Excellent food...very reasonable prices...great view from restaurant. Whale and fjord voyage a must.
