The atmosphere was vibrant. The property was self contained so to eat we were able to mix restaurants with cooking ourselves using local Les Halle market produce. The flat is beautiful and immaculate, very comfortable, and just steps away from everything - the Palais Des Papes, the fantastic daily market at Les Halles, terrific dining and shopping and entertainment. Perfect location - close to the center of town, very close to the food hall and many restaurants, but tucked away so you don’t get any of the noise from the nearby bars at night. It was clean and comfortable. Paul was ready and waiting for me when I got there and took the time to explain everything to me, and was prompt to meet me when I was checking out as well. We love to stay in the city center when we travel and walk everywhere, and this apartment was ideal. It is only about a 3 minute walk to the Palace of the Popes. There is a grocery store down the street. There are dozens of restaurants within 5 minutes in every direction. The street where the apartment is located is pedestrian only so it is very quiet at night. The apartment itself is very nice, had plenty of space for the 3 of us, and the beds were very comfortable. Loved the stone walls and wooden ceiling beams. Paul was a great host and very helpful. If you have a rental car, one tip is to park in the Palace of the Popes parking garage. A super clean and comfy apartment in the heart of old Avignon - a fantastic central location! Paul is an amazing host who goes out of his way to ensure you have a great stay. He met us upon arrival and helped with the bags up the stairs, and he had some really helpful information about the city to guide your stay. We had a car and parked at the Palais des Popes as recommended by Paul. It was easy to access and exit the parking garage. You take a ticket when you arrive and pay at the machine on the top level upon departure. Although we did not see them when we arrived - there are elevators in the garage!!! So take a look around before taking the stairs - especially if you are parked on a lower level and you have luggage! Wish we could have stayed longer!
