Oakura Bay Villa is a rare, private beachfront estate on Waiheke Island, set on its own stretch of coastline with three small islands, sweeping sea views, and complete seclusion. This beautifully restored Kauri villa has been carefully preserved and modernised, offering a relaxed coastal experience ideal for families and friends wanting true privacy and direct access to the water.  
  
The Space:  
  
The villa brings together the character of an original Kauri homestead with the comfort of a spacious, coastal retreat. Wraparound covered decks frame the home, creating multiple outdoor spots to sit, read, or watch the tide move across the bay. A porch swing sits along the veranda, a favourite place for guests of all ages to unwind. Outdoor seating areas, a BBQ zone, and an outdoor shower make the property feel connected to the beach in every direction.  
  
Inside, the home is warm and welcoming, with timber floors, comfortable furnishings, and wide windows framing the garden and sea beyond. The large 1970s kitchen is fully equipped and includes a classic wood-burning stove, with easy access to the dining and sunroom area, a bright space for long meals and slow mornings.  
  
The main lounge faces directly toward the water and is set up for relaxed evenings with books, games, and a flat-screen TV for rainy days or slow nights in. The bedrooms are spread throughout the home, offering generous space for families, groups, or mixed sleeping arrangements, with a combination of superking, king, queen, bunk, and trundler setups ideal for larger groups.  
  
Large lawns, mature trees, and coastal pathways connect the home to the beach, creating a calm and expansive environment that feels completely private.

Minimum stays: 7 nights from mid December to mid January, 3 nights rest of January and all holiday weekends, 2 nights at all other times.  
  
This property can only be accessed with a 4WD vehicle. The driveway is very steep, unsealed, and has potholes, so guests must take extra care when driving up or down. Standard vehicles are not suitable for this property.  
  
Guest Access:  
  
Guests have private use of the full five-hectare property, including the villa, surrounding lawns, three private islands, and 1.7 kilometres of coastline. Safe swimming, kayaking, snorkelling, picnicking, and lawn games are all just steps from the front door. Parking is available on site. Early check-in or late check-out may be possible depending on other bookings.  
  
The Neighborhood:  
  
Oakura Bay Villa is uniquely located on its own private beach.  
  
Oakura Bay Villa is centrally positioned for exploring some of the island’s most well-known wineries and natural spaces. Nearby vineyards include Man O’ War for long seaside lunches, Poderi Crisci for Italian-inspired dining in its sheltered valley, and Passage Rock, known for its Syrah and peaceful rural outlook. Whakanewha Regional Park is close by, offering forest walks, wetlands, and coastal tracks. The white sands of Onetangi Beach, along with beachside dining and cafés, are also within easy driving distance.  
  
Essential services including the car ferry terminal, petrol station, and the island’s main supermarket are located ten to fifteen minutes from the property.  
  
Getting Around:  
  
A car is recommended due to the property’s rural setting and private coastline. Parking is provided on site. Taxi services are available island-wide, and bus routes operate through the central villages and key winery stops including Cable Bay, Mudbrick, Tantalus, Stonyridge, and Te Motu.  
  
Other Things to Note:  
  
This property can only be accessed with a 4WD vehicle. The driveway is very steep, unsealed, and has potholes, so guests must take extra care when driving up or down. Standard vehicles are not suitable for this property.  
  
There is a Delonghi coffee pod machine at the property.  
  
The home operates on rainwater tanks, so guests need to be mindful of water use, especially during summer.

3 nights on holiday weekends  
  
2 nights at all other times  
  
Interaction with Guests:  
  
The Stay Waiheke team is available seven days a week from 8:30am to 5pm, with after-hours assistance for urgent matters. For life-threatening or property emergencies like fire, always call 111 first.

Perfect location.We loved the fire roaring, low tide walks and memorable sunset. A beautiful old girl in a perfect location.

Unfortunately the weather was poor and this home requires great weather to make it enjoyable . The location is great but the home does not offer a modern layout but the charm of days gone by. The main bedroom does not have en-suite bathroom and if you are in a group, the 2 bathrooms must be shared.

We had a very memorable stay at this beautiful house - well set up right on a lovely Waiheke bay. The only flaw was booking through Bookabach which incurred and extra booking fee.

#### Wonderful weekend

We had a wonderful weekend for my husband’s birthday, staying at this gorgeous beachfront bach. Unfortunately the weather was wild and windy, so no kayaking or fishing, but we still had an excellent time, especially as we could bring our puppies. Bach was very clean, comfortable beds and lovely large private beach and grounds. Would definitely rent again- hopefully when the sun is shining! Thank you again for a lovely stay.

We would probably book through year. On the downside there were no life jackets for the kayaks. Toilets dirty. Bathroom shower had long black hairs. Pizza, cups. glasses, bottle tops left round the property. On the upside wonderful to have our family dogs and good kitchen appliances to work with.

#### A very special property in a beautiful location.

A few little details like the TV sound system not working and whilst this was fixed on the night of arrival the contractors (albeit nice people) arrived at 9pm at night. Toaster and icemaker in fridge not working and microwave a little worse for wear. Minor details however for the price per night it would be worth sorting these things before guests arrive.

#### Fantastic, idyllic retreat.

We had a great time in this awesome home which was warm and cosy against the rainy weather with it's 2 fire places and well stocked amenities including the coffee machine and heaters and choice of sun porches. The ample kitchen can feed a hungry bunch and the private beach feels like heaven. Awesome stay. Will be back. Our dog, loved it!

#### Perfect place for a family break

We had a wonderful stay here! There was plenty of space and things to do for everyone. The house was well equipped with everything you would need. The hosts were great and happily dropped off extra linen due to my error when booking. We will be back!

#### Just perfect

We had a great couple of nights stay here, was just what we needed. Chilling out on the veranda with our Westie, walking the beach and a wine or two in front of the fire at night. Great communication throughout and very accommodating, we'll be back, we have found a new favorite!
