We (opa. oma, kinderen en kleinkinderen) hebben medio mei 2014 een super familieweekend meegemaakt in Au Bois Dormant, Maar dat kwam ook door het uitstekende weer waardoor we volop konden genieten van het buitenterras (met bbq!) en de zeer ruime tuin. Als je aan de voorkant van dit huis staat dan verwacht je eigenlijk niet dat dit huis zo bijzonder is, het ligt gewoon direct aan de weg in het buitengebied van Aubel, maar de achterkant van het huis met het schitterende uitzicht op de glooiende akkers is geheel andere koek! Uitstekende rustige ligging slechts 2 km van de bekende abdij\\/brouwerij val Dieu en Aubel op 5 autominuten afstand. Heerlijke ruime en smaakvolle living\\/woonkamer waar het best vertoeven is voor een groep. De pelletkachel zorgt 's avonds desgewenst voor de nodige warmte en sfeer. Mooie slaapkamers, vooral de masters bedroom en die twee slaapkamers beneden grenzend aan het zwembad vonden de kinderen uiteraard prachtig. Erg luxe allemaal, we hebben het echt ervaren als een verwenweekend! De ontvangst door de eigenaresse was zeer hartelijk en betrokken. Tip bestel je voor een grote groep voor het ontbijt lekkere broodjes bij de plaatselijke bakker (Jean Pierre), dan komen ze gewoon de bestelling in alle vroegte thuisbrengen! Wát een luxe! Er is slechts één minpuntje bij vertrek komt de gastvrouw alle meterstanden opnemen en dan blijkt dat je ineens toch wel een paar honderd euro extra moet neertellen, voornamelijk vanwege de kosten van de zwembadinstallatie. Zulke kosten zouden eigenlijk bij de prijs inbegrepen moeten zijn, net zoals in een hotel of op een camping. Daar zou je gek opkijken als je bij vertrek zou worden geconfronteerd met extra verbruikskosten. Dus waarom ook hier niet? Dat geeft (vooraf) een eerlijker beeld van wat de uiteindelijke werkelijke kosten zijn. Maar zoals gezegd dit is het enige minpunt. Au Bois Dormant is een heerlijke locatie in een mooie streek waar allerlei excursies mogelijk zijn (bierbrouwerij, siroperie, Val Dieu, Militaire Erebegraafplaats in Hombourg-Plombiere, de zondagse markt in Aubel). Ook voor de sportievelingen (wandelaars en fietsers) een echte aanrader!! Wij hebben samen met onze kinderen een heerlijke rustige vakantie gehad. Het zwembad en terras zijn plekken waar we veel waren te vinden. Het dorp is vlakbij en daar is twee maal per week een leuke markt. De omgeving is prachtig, vanaf het terras zie je de vossen door het dal lopen! Let wel op dat u rekening houd met de forse kosten die achteraf nog betaald moeten worden voor de verwarming van het zwembad, water enz. Dit loopt in de zomer al op tot €450 per week!!!!
