Savannah Suites

Posted 6-Oct-2015
Pros: Nothing
Cons: The room was not clean at all.
Location: Georgia Aquarium, Coke
It was across the street from the Rescue Mission, so we had issues every time we walked past the people that wanted money, etc. and feared for our safety.

Only benefit was its location to the midtown music

Posted 21-Sep-2015
Aweful room. Decent bed. Looked like it had never been cleaned. No Ice machine. Outdated checkin system. Only reason we stayed here was for the cost and wasn't too bad of a walk to the midtown music festival, about 1.5 miles.

Perfect for DragonCon on a budget but....

Posted 20-Sep-2015
If you are on a low budget for DragonCon, this might and I say might be the hotel for you. All the bad reviews of this hotel seem to be rooted in its location. The hotel itself is average. Nothing fancy but at the same time not a dump. The only real issue is the homeless shelter about 100 yards away. From the moment we arrived for DragonCon, we were greeted in the parking lot by the hotel security guard. He was pleasant and professional. When we checked in we were greeted by one of the nicest ladies ever. Hint: you get what you give. Be nice to people and chances are they will be nice to you too. The hotel staff was professional and nice at all times. Note: they will call you a cab if you need one, no problem. We stayed for 4 days. The hotel does not offer maid service as it is similar to an extended stay type of hotel, so make sure you bring an extra towel or two and a roll of paper towels, just in case. No problem. There was a microwave and a half fridge. * BIg hint here: it takes about 8 minutes to walk to the Hilton/Mariott Marquis, so when you leave the hotel, if you turn right, you will head toward the homeless shelter and may get harassed for money but the solution is to turn left as you leave the hotel, go one extra block around and you should be fine. That is what we did and there were no issues. Overall, our stay was okay but the thing we had to remember was we were not there for the hotel, we were there for DragonCon, which of course was awesome!

Very friendly staff but not at all clean

Posted 18-Aug-2015
Pros: Friendly staff, kitchenette included
Cons: Cleanliness, WiFi service
Location: Within walking distance of GA Tech (1 mile), World of Coke, Atlanta Aquarium & Olympic park. In a disadvantaged neighborhood but did not feel unsafe.
We just moved our son into GA Tech and chose this hotel for the price ($50/night vs /$180+) and the fact that it's close enough to walk to campus. My husband and I can tolerate a lot and go for price over star rating, but we do like things to be reasonably clean, and we do want a non-smoking room. The staff at the hotel was very nice, and the facility itself, while old, included a kitchenette area (stove, fridge, microwave, cabinets, and sink) in the room which is nice. However, the room was very dirty, and strong smelling chemicals used to overcome stale cigarette smoke only added to the nasty odor and made being in the room unpleasant . There was garbage under the bed, the walls next to the stove were greasy, there were handprints and other things on the walls that could have been cleaned off. The bed was comfortable, but the sheets had cigarette holes in them and the sheets and towels, while washed, were dingy and stained. There is WiFi, but it's very unreliable and didn't allow us to go to most web sites (ie. GA Tech's website). If the rooms had been clean and we could have been in a non-smoking room (which they won't guarantee even if you request it) then I would have given it a much higher rating, stay there again and recommended it to friends. Unfortunately due to lack of cleanliness and having to be in a smoking room I will be looking for another place to stay when we return to Atlanta in October.

Gutes Hotel in Atlanta für bescheidene Urlauber

Posted 16-Jul-2015

Talk about ghetto

Posted 13-Jul-2015
Pros: Well Uber came out there
Cons: Um, everything.
Location: Midtown location and try not to get mugged by any creepy homeless guy walking within the premises
Hotel is cheap and looks cheap. There are homeless people everywhere as well as trash on the road in front of the hotel. The staff working there is unprofessional.
