Sub par for a short stay if on a budget.

Posted 3-Apr-2017
Pros: Its located in an "artsy" district and not far from downtown to walk. Plus the staff was incredibly nice.
Cons: The whole building needs work. It was under construction during my stay, but that's still not an excuse.
Location: Phillips Arena and downtown was very close by! Its a very pleasant walk.
I was in need of room for a concert I bought tickets for at Philips Arena that was also nearby. Castleberry was the cheapest and closest I could find. I knew I would be on foot most of my few days there, so I wasn't looking for anything ultra luxurious. Although I was on a budget, I am usually accustomed to spoiling myself when it comes to hotel rooms; so therefore I always expect a nice spacious room no matter what...that's not what I got. The staff was wonderful. Very nice, smiles, etc. The lobby looked nice, with a small desktop computer in a corner (yes, it worked). But as you walked through the halls you immediately realize the hotel needed some renovation (old carpet, damaged walls, dented doors). My door barely closed all the wall, so I had to make sure it was completely closed when I left for the day. My room was TINY. I got a full size bed, but was not expecting a room so small. The bathroom was almost as big as the room itself. Had a small TV, horrible lighting, old furniture and outdated carpet; the room was clean though. My window had NO VIEW. My window faced the inner wall of the hotel. The walls/ceiling were paper thin, so I heard every footstep of the person above me at 6 am on my final morning stay. So in conclusion, the hotel was sub par with a friendly staff. Its located not far from the arena and downtown so if you are a walker its not too bad. I highly recommend you spend a little more money for something bigger, quieter and a little more comfortable.

Pros: nothing
Cons: renovation
Location: not too bad but very isolated
1st. the day we arrived to the hotel ( my Sister and 2 adults nephews) we decided to take the train to the hotel because we didn't want to drive . I was told by the agent who did the reservation that was very close to downtown Atlanta which was not. then when we got to the hotel as soon as i saw the front of the hotel i was already disappointed ,we got in and that was the end. I called expedia to see if we can get relocated and left me on the phone waiting for more than an hour and I have to hang up because it was late and we want to go out. We decided to check in ,the girl at the front desk has an attitude. We got the key went to the room which it was so stinky, we request non smoking room and the room smell like someone was smoking marihuana (disappointed again) .Turn the tv on it was working ok also wifi, the AC wasnt working but we just left to sightseeing. Went we comeback around 8pm it was no TV , no Internet (disappointed again) We have to ask for soap and toilet paper because the did not put that in the room . Breakfast was only bagel ,waffle and coffee every day and I understand it wasn't a 5 stars hotel . overall very disappointed

Average hotel in a bad area

Posted 12-Feb-2017
The hotel itself was dirty, there was garbage and a dirty facecloth left from the pervious guest and overall the location was awful. The neighbourhood was not safe and the taxi driver from the airport was not familiar with the area even. It did not look like anything in the pictures.

Hotel was just okay. Tolerable

Posted 2-Feb-2017
Pros: It seemed like it had character due to it's age. Outside building looks nice but inside was not what I expected.
Cons: Attitude of the staff/be more polite with customer service. Appropriate wi-fi signal as advertised. Shampoo the carpeting, provide bath stopper in tub
Location: Too far away from the downtown area to be able to walk safely, without being hassled.
Hotel carpet was not clean. Wi-Fi had a very poor/slow signal. Hotel staff could not provide one plastic knife to cut a bagel and excessive time to respond to the request. Ignored questions asked and seemed bothered while talking on the phone about personal issues. Bottle of curl activator left out on the breakfast counter during the entire duration of my stay. Too many confrontational people roaming around pan handling outside after dark. Not a great experience for me.

Convenient to downtown

Posted 31-Jan-2017
Pros: Convenience to downtown, next door to Paschal's restaurant
Cons: Appearance of interior hallways
Location: Close to downtown
My goal in choosing a hotel for this trip was to find one close to downtown at a reasonable price, and this hotel met both of those criteria. No serious complaints, the outside of the hotel and the common areas are nice, and the rooms themselves are okay, not awesome but at least they're clean. I found the shower difficult to operate, I've never seen a mechanism like the one in our bathroom to get the water to come out of the shower head. The only minor issue I had was the condition of the interior hallways; they were so dingy I felt like I was in some sort of shabby apartment building. To be fair, this did not seem to be a matter of cleanliness, it might have been just the particular type of carpet or paint that was there that gave that effect, but nevertheless for me it took away from what was otherwise a pleasant hotel experience. Still, having said all of that, the good outweighed the bad. A very big plus during our stay was being so close to Paschal's restaurant, where we ate a couple of times.

Nice hotel close to downtown and the Georgia Dome

Posted 29-Jan-2017
Pros: Its location and the staff.
Cons: The rooms need to be repainted and new carpets possibly.
Location: Its close to downtown and really close to the Georgia Dome/Mercedes Benz Stadium. Also close to a great restaurant called The Smoke Ring.
I was a little nervous after reading some of the reviews, but because it was a last minute trip I had to take what was available and I'm glad I did. I stayed here for two nights. The room had some stains on the carpet and the walls need to be repainted, but other than that it was nice. The bed was really nice and clean. The staff was friendly. The walls are thin, but I didn't have any problems with noisy neighbors or anything. Breakfast was your typical continental breakfast. I would stay there again for sure.

Spend the extra $$ to stay elsewhere

Very shady location. Do not be there by yourself. Showerhead didnt work, wifi is extremely spotty, but breakfast was a perk.
