Sub par for a short stay if on a budget.
I was in need of room for a concert I bought tickets for at Philips Arena that was also nearby. Castleberry was the cheapest and closest I could find. I knew I would be on foot most of my few days there, so I wasn't looking for anything ultra luxurious. Although I was on a budget, I am usually accustomed to spoiling myself when it comes to hotel rooms; so therefore I always expect a nice spacious room no matter what...that's not what I got.
The staff was wonderful. Very nice, smiles, etc. The lobby looked nice, with a small desktop computer in a corner (yes, it worked). But as you walked through the halls you immediately realize the hotel needed some renovation (old carpet, damaged walls, dented doors). My door barely closed all the wall, so I had to make sure it was completely closed when I left for the day.
My room was TINY. I got a full size bed, but was not expecting a room so small. The bathroom was almost as big as the room itself. Had a small TV, horrible lighting, old furniture and outdated carpet; the room was clean though. My window had NO VIEW. My window faced the inner wall of the hotel. The walls/ceiling were paper thin, so I heard every footstep of the person above me at 6 am on my final morning stay.
So in conclusion, the hotel was sub par with a friendly staff. Its located not far from the arena and downtown so if you are a walker its not too bad. I highly recommend you spend a little more money for something bigger, quieter and a little more comfortable.
