They have a sister hotel that allows you to have dinner there, or visit the onsen. Both dinner and onsen were better in their sister hotel. Good location to the mountain and easy walking to the cable car for mountain access. While we enjoyed Sounkyo area the hotel was average. We stayed two nights and had half board, the buffet variety were virtually the same each day. For breakfast, staple like bread is not available. I do understand they mainly cater to local tourists. However, the staff is not so helpful. We requested them to make a reservation at a restaurant serving crabs and they said it's fully booked. But when we went there to ask, there were tables available. Also when we arrived, we were asked to park at a carpark 2 blocks from the hotel. We noted there was a carpark right at the hotel building. We tried asking the reception if we could park our car at hotel and she said there is height restriction. Buses and cars arrive and the reception desk comes to life! After a botched car rental ( thanks Expedia : ( - we took the bus from Kamikawa which was easy and cheap. The hotel onsen was great, we went five times over our two days! Breakfast and Dinner buffet were included - the egg omelet was my fave breakfast item. Loads of food choices. We walked to the Ryusei waterfalls and took the ropeway and chairlift and then hiked to the top of Kurodake. The town itself was quiet - June 26, almost deserted - but a stunning place to hike and onsen. Took the bus back to Kamikawa with ease. The Onsen area is really dirty. The restaurant is all-you-can-eat style for breakfast and dinner but the food quality is really terrible. There are so many tour groups staying in this hotel. So it is very hard to have food on the table all the time. The group guests usually picked up the food quickly. The food serving table and drink machine are really dirty. I stayed two nights and the food marks were still there no any clean.
