Amazing view!
At first, we received the wrong check-in instructions. We drove an extra 25 min each way from the house to meet with someone for check-in. On the day of the check-in, the owner sent us another message with the correct instructions and house info, but we were on a road trip that day and the internet was not working everywhere plus I wasn't looking for new instructions when I already received one. I will not recommend driving there after dark: the road along the lake is veeeery wavy and it is very hard to drive. The house itself was disappointing.. at first, it is very dirty: dead dry bugs everywhere, dirty dishes (disgusting) and old/used sponge to wash dishes, some dirty bed linens, a lot of bugs (alive) inside, one of the bathrooms: shower without a door - when you take a shower, everything becomes wet. There is no AC. The owner brought fans, but they were very loud, and around 9 am (we were in March) it was already stuffy. All furniture, mattresses and everything are old and the house itself is not taken good care of. On the good side- the view was amazing, a lot of birds around, very spacious house. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend this place and wouldn't come back.

The house was great but it was not well stocked with just a few basics—no trash bags, dish soap, salt and pepper. Check in was super confusing. We were told to drive to a restaurant which was nearby to pick up the key. The restaurant turned out to be quite inconvenient to get to so the owner said he would meet us at the house and he was 30 minutes late. The house has been painted dark blue and the photos are white so I didn’t know if we were at the correct property. There was no sign to identify it. Either way I recommend that you DO NOT attempt to find this property after dark. The roads are extremely winding and narrow and it’s very hard to find the turn off to the house. The house does not have AC, which was listed in the description so it wasn’t a surprise, but it also lacked screens for the large glass doors and the windows. The breeze at night was great but without screens a lot of beetles were attracted to the lights inside and some biting insects. The internet never worked for us which was problematic. The network was visible but every time we tried to connect it said “no internet” and the owner was not responsive about this. The location of this house and the open spaciousness made up for the other areas of lack. The view was absolutely breathtaking and the sounds of the birds in the morning was glorious.

Fantastic villa and a base to explore Arenal region
Our three-day stay at the villa in Costa Rica was fantastic! The location near the lake and volcano offered stunning views, while the surrounding trees and birdlife added to the natural charm. The villa was cozy and comfortable, providing a perfect base for exploring the area. Overall, it was a great experience, and we would love to go back.

Family vacation at Lake Arenal
The house has wonderful views and the living spaces are nice and large.great location for exploring the Arenal area.we spent 4 nights 3 days. We went to Mistico Hanging bridges, white water rafting, Baldi Hot Springs and enjoyed the shops and restaurants of La Fortuna and Nuevo Arenal. The first night we had a chef and assistant provide us a beautiful meal to kick off our trip after a long day of travel. The food was great! It’s definitely Costa Rica living. You have to be ok with some bugs in the house with you! The house does not have air conditioning, so windows and doors are open and most don’t have screens. We learned after the first night to turn on outside lights and only have on the lamps inside to not attract the bugs ! We would definitely rent this home again if we come back to Arenal.

Family Trip
Nice house in a beautiful setting. Lots of space for a large group. A few problems that marred our stay just a bit: No window/door screens or fans in the large common area which meant the only way to get any relief from the heat was to open the doors which meant mosquitoes inside. Were supposed to be fans in bedrooms but two of them didn't work. A few safety issues: 1) clothes dryer does not shut off on its own 2) missing smoke detectors 3) one of the bedroom doors has a lock that's installed backwards. Door blew shut on its own several times, once when door knob was in locked position and daughter was in the room. If someone hadn't been there, she would have been trapped in the room 4) gas stove burners do not light on their own and we were given just a small cigarette lighter to light them manually which resulted in a couple of scorched fingers 5) one of the exterior door locks was broken so house was not secure when we were out for the day Most of these things are easily correctable so hopefully they will be fixed for future guests. Our stay cost us over $500 per night, however. At that price we weren't expecting to have to deal with things like these

Great place
This was a great place to stay. Very comfortable, private, and remote with amazing views. I think its important to know exactly what you get and be ok with it. If you expect more than this then you wont have a great time. 1. There is no dishwasher 2. There is no A/C but it stays pretty cool most of the time 3. There are bugs (you are in the middle of a jungle) 4. The views are amazing 5. The privacy is great 6. It's about 20-40 minutes to get to things but that wasn't an issue for us Would recommend this highly to friends and would use again.

Photos don't do it justice! The view, breeze and nature are unbelievable. Beds comfy, kitchen well stocked, location was private and secluded but also convenient.. Heaven on the Lake
Big spacious, comfortable home overlooking Arenal Lake. The view is unforgettable and the host true to his word. You see a tree fell on the property water line breaking it and leaving us without water. Our host, Alexi, as promised, reimbursed us the full rental amount. All this American can say to my French amigo is Viva La France!

The View Alone is Worth It
Large, comfortable home for our group of six adults. Spectacular view in an extremely private setting. Bird watchers’ paradise. Short drive or hike on steep terrain for restaurant, soda, very basic shopping. Ideal location for the start to our CR vacation. Nice to have laundry facilities and nicely equipped kitchen. Beautiful house with an amazing view!
Best view of lake Arenal FROM THE HOUSE. Be sure to drive a 4x4 car to get up the hill. Well appointed kitchen and huge doors to create a nice cross breeze. Be careful of the wind catching and slamming the back door though, especially if you happen to have a sleeping baby! Excellent access to Mistíco hanging bridges and restaurants just down the hill. Hotel La Mansíon had great food and vibes with a beautiful outdoor area. Alexis’ wife’s restaurant in Nuevo Arenal had good food with a great beer selection. If you’re new to Costa Rica consider ordering your steaks one level more cooked than you generally would want. This place is a great option if you want to spend some time in a home near Nuevo Arenal!

The beginning was a little rocky but we were able to maneuver problems. Housekeeping could be definitely improved and response time to questions slow. The view was fabulous and the quiet was something I hadn't experienced in a long time. This area is one that has good roads and a few eating areas. A little disappointed with showers....but its Costa Rica. We could only get 2 warm showers and then the hot is gone. Just have to work around the system and go with the flow. Yes, I would rent again.

Great Stay with Fantastic View
My wife and I recently stayed at this home on Lake Arenal. We met the owner of the property and he took us to the home to do a walk through. He gave us a ton of information around the surrounding areas and places to see and eat. It is a large home, most of the home we did not use but if you have a larger family it would work great too. The view and sunsets were absolutely amazing. The property is gated and very private which we loved. If you love wildlife you will see tons of beautiful birds and hear the moneys in the morning!! Cannot wait to get back !!

The view was perfect... fabulous view overlooking Lake Arenal and the mountains!! Stunning sunsets! Great restaurant, Le Bistro, right at the end of the dirt road. The owner, Alexis, met us in town and escorted us to the property after waiting for us to buy groceries! When we did have an issue, Alexis responded quickly! Please be aware that no toilet paper can be flushed, but there were no reminders in the bathrooms and very awkward for our first night there!! Kitchen could use a few more amenities. All in all, a very nice stay!!

I wish we had more time to stay. The pictures in the listing don't do the house justice. The views from the house and deck over the lake are amazing! The house has a great open layout and is very comfortable. Communicating with Alexis was easy and meeting him to check in was a breeze.

Alexis's property is amazing. Everything from the communication, spectacular views and beautifully decorated and well maintained house itself were perfect, an amazing end to our Costa Rican adventures. Alexis was so helpful with our questions and check-in and flexibility in check-out. The sunsets and coffee with sunrise were spectacular bookends to our days our adventuring. Fantastic property with breath taking views!
The house has views that are just unbeatable. Located outside Nuevo Arenal, 45 minute drive to all the action in La Fortuna, and a short walk to a couple of restaurants and shops down the hill. It was clean, comfortable, and had plenty of towels and no bug problem to even speak of (as previously mentioned in other reviews). Wake up to howler monkeys and beautiful birds singing and end the day watching a gorgeous sunset overlooking the lake from your patio. You can take a hike up the road and have amazing views of the volcano as well. Only issue was hot water didn’t work in 2 of the 3 bathrooms which I assume will be addressed. Really wonderful place and hope to return one day!

Spectacular vistas & quiet surroundings
Perfect space for large families/gatherings. The vistas & sunsets are simply spectacular, with tropical birds all around. A few different restaurant options at the bottom of the road (all were tasty). Closest supermarket is minimal 30 round trip (Arenal) so plan accordingly. But the experience you get staying here more than makes up for that variable. A few bugs will inevitably walk into the house, so avoid if that worries you. But this is Costa Rica afterall. Alexis was very responsive & had great suggestions for all of our questions. Highly recommend!

Great Home with a Lake View
Alexis is a great host with an incredible home with beautiful views of Lake Arenal. It's minutes away from great restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations, and all the normal necessities. Volcano Arenal and numerous hot springs and adventure activities are all under an hour away. It's a super kicked back and relaxing location yet minutes from everything the Arenal area has to offer!! Super home to rent!!!

Not what I thought it was going to be.
I was super uncomfortable in this home. It just felt unwelcoming, dirty and neglected. Ant were in our food within mins. Ants were also all over our fridge. Not enough towels in the house. No air circulated in the home. There was fans but almost all the ones we tried, didn’t work. The host had no remorse for how horrible our experience was. And he also set our meet up point to be 15-20 mins away from the home. After traveling for so long, we just wanted to relax and thought after we ate at the restaurant we met at, we would soon be able to relax. But we weren’t. Although this place has a nice view when the clouds aren’t in the way, it was definitely not worth my stay. I will never again stay at this location nor any location owned by this person or company.

Great views!!
This property has an unbelievable view. Alexis was friendly and easy to work with. It was a little farther from La Fortuna than I had realized, but we really enjoyed our stay anyway. The only downside was that there was a ant/bug problem mostly in the kitchen, but we managed by keeping up on the cleaning and didn't leave anything out. There were no paper towels stocked when we arrived, so we had to go back out and get some before cleaning the ants and settling in. My son went to the restaurant Tinajas that Alexis recommended, and said it was really good. He also recommends it! Overall it was a very nice place. Thank you Alexis!

Best view of the lake!
This was our second time to stay at this house and we absolutely love it. Plenty of space for our family of 5. The view of the lake is incredible, and we enjoy be away from everything. This property is perfect if you are looking for a quiet peaceful place and don’t mind driving a bit into town. The property manager is kind and wonderful. I can’t wait to go back next year.

Alexis was very responsive and his hospitality was top notch! He guided us to the property, showed us around, and reccomended places to eat and things to do in the area. My family and I recently spent three magical days at the house. First of all, the views of the lake and surrounding mountains are stunning. The rainbows, sunsets and toucans were so much more than we had expected. Close enough to La Fortuna to take advantage of all the activities but far enough to make you feel you are in a private tropical enclave. Alexis was a very attentive and gracious host. Great location overseeing Lake Arenal. We had some issues with water roof leaks, because of the large amount of rain that fell in our time there. However, it did not distract us from our family fun. The property was as advertised and was exceptional. Owner, Alexis was extremely helpfull and his hired social assistant was most charming. (the kitten). Whether it was sunny or raining the huge covered decks made it very comfortable and enjoyable. Looking for a great place, close to everything, this property has it. You are right in nature and you have killer views accross the lake.

Beautiful Setting and Spectacular Views
This is a very spacious home with stunning lake views. The home is located on a remote hill top; however, La Fortuna activities are within driving distance. This was my family's first trip to Costa Rica and I must say that while this home is serene, remote and tranquil, we were still "roughing it." The home does not have AC but it's really not necessary because there is a constant breeze and most of the home's windows have vented tops with screens. If you do open doors, beware that you will have bugs (roaches, ants, spiders and other creepy crawly's), but this is Costa Rica after all. The beds were comfortable but the bedding needs some attention as the coverlets are stained and faded. There is cracking plaster and minor repairs that need to be made but this does not detract from the beauty of the setting or the comfort of the home. There were several broken glasses in the cupboard but I just made sure Alexis was aware of this and left them on the counter when we left so they wouldn't be put away again. Electricity does go out frequently and we spent more than 6 hours without electric on the first day so be prepared for that. Alexis is great and answered all of my questions quickly. I would recommend this home to anyone seeking to get away from civilization for a bit of peace and tranquility in a beautiful setting!

Views are breathtaking - The house needs some work
We stayed two nights at this property as a group of eight (4 adults and 4 kids). We met the owner at a local restaurant and he drove us to the property. It was night time, so we were unable to see the outside of the property until we woke the next morning. The owner quickly walked us through a couple basics on the house (security system, room location, washer/dryer, window/doors) and then he left us for the evening. There is wi-fi in the house, but the password isn't readily available We emailed the owner, and he responded promptly. After settling in, we noticed a couple other issues that concerned us (no hand towels, no hand soap, and no dish soup). We notified the owner, and he said he would come by in the morning with these items and he did. The property is lovely, and has good bones but rough edges. It definitely needs a little TLC (new paint, new linens, some work in the kitchen area). The owner indicated that the property will be completely painted inside and out in September, so it sounds like he is aware that it needs some work. The space is great. Plenty of beds to sleep 10 comfortably. We liked that each of the rooms on the main level had their own bathrooms. The rooms with the bunks and single beds were perfect for the kids. The selling point for this house is the view. When we woke up in the morning we were blown away. We spent the first morning hanging out on the patio with coffee and our binoculars watching all the birds and listening to the howler monkeys. Amazing! Pros: beautiful location, the view, sleeping situation is perfect for a large group or a family, responsive owner who lives locally Cons: house needs some TLC, the linens needs to be replaced (ripped and worn, some stains), not enough towels for our group so we had to share and we had no hand towels or bath mats, there were A LOT of bugs inside and outside the house - The house doesn't have screens on the patio doors and it has no air conditioning, so to cool off the house during the day and in the evening you had to open the doors to allow a breeze and many, many bugs to blow through. We knew we were in the tropics, but we didn't intend to sleep outside and that's what it felt like at times. I think this could be remedied with some screens. - There were only 4 normal sized spoons and 5 small drinking glasses in the cupboards. This made it challenging for a group of 8 to eat. I would recommend this place for the view, not for the house itself. Needs some TLC.

Great view but disappointed at house condition
The property has a million dollar view but was dissapointed with the condition of the house(peeling paint, broken drawers ,stained curtain shower ). The house is in a forest area and you can expect insects and bugs but when we arrived a the house it looked like the house has not been clean in weeks ( to be nice). Despite this facts we had a great time in Arenal.

Simply breathtaking
We arrived late at night and the house itself its just beautiful and so inviting. But our real surprise was when we woke up the next day, the view its absolutely amazing, we live in CR and we definitely have never seen this part of the country like we did this time in this property. Its very peaceful and the climate is perfect. I definitely recommend this place to any family or friends you will not regret staying here at all. Counting the days to come back. Beautiful place to vacation.
This place has an incredible view of Lake Arenal. The location is convenient to LaFortuna and Nuevo Arenal. There are even a few small local restaurants within walking distance (few hundred meters down the hill). Everything was clean and well maintained. Our host was prompt and provided everything that we needed. The only mildly negative aspect was a lot of tiny ants in the house at times, but this rarely was a problem as long as there were no crumbs or food left on the floor. It is important to remember that this is the Costa Rican rain forest, so occasional bugs, geckos, bats, and other animals are in the area so I would not recommend leaving the beautiful large glass doors open at night. This was no problem during the day. This is easily the most beautiful property I have ever rented. I hope we can return again soon. I would rent here again without reservation.

Perfect location, beautiful views
We recently spent 2 nights here and had a great time. We live in Costa Rica and have stayed at several other VRBO properties near Arenal and this has been our favorite. Highlights: -Gorgeous lakeview and views of Volcano Tenorio -Large, beautiful property with fruit trees and tons of bird sightings including toucans, aracaris, orapendulas, etc. -Large, modern, open concept house with all the amenities -Great star gazing at night, we even saw several shooting stars -Convenient location close to Nuevo Arenal and La Fortuna -Alexis was very friendly, helpful and communicative Finally, I highly recommend checking out Mistico Hanging Bridges. We loved it! Thanks again Alexis, we hope to return soon!

WOW! Where do I even begin? The home is so luxurious, perfectly appointed with all the necessities, and extremely clean and comfortable. It is also perfectly located to experience the amazing adventures in and around the La Fortuna area without being crowded with a bunch of tourists. The best part of this house is the 360 degree view of the hills, forest, and especially beautiful Lake Arenal and it's wonderful sunsets! We just sat there with our drinks and watched the lake each evening, such an amazing place to call home in the La Fortuna area. It was just a short drive from all the wonderful adventures we experienced nearby, like waterfall rappelling, hiking the Cerro Chato volcano, and chilling in the "hot spring" waters of the Tabacon river. The town of La Fortuna is nearby and full of anything you might need, but we really enjoyed the peace and quiet of the tiny village down at the bottom of the hill from this house. One night, my wife and I walked down for some drinks at the La Mansion resort and really enjoyed ourselves there with all the large toads that hung out by the pool. The owner and manager of this property are very responsive and attentive to any of your needs, we could not have had a better stay in the La Fortuna area. Don't even hesitate to book this home. We had a family of six and it was so spacious and comfortable that we all had our space to relax after long days of adventure.
