The cottage was spotless and provided everything we needed for a restful weekend away. We were conveniently located to many attractions of the area and even got to experience Mount Airy's Autumn Leaves festival and the Doe Run Farm Sunflower Maze. But beware of Karen We loved staying here. Everything was clean, decorated so well and was so cozy and warm. The location was perfect! We were a little concerned when we texted the contact about the locks not working and never heard back. Also, we were also mildly annoyed because one of the neighbors stopped by to semi-rudely question why we were walking around, and said there had been break-in recently. She even asked us which house we were staying in and stared at us accusingly. When we asked if she was the owner, she admitted that no, she wasn’t - and that she lived down the hill (we were uphill, so she must have been watching us). It was a little creepy and strange and took the wind a bit out of our sails, when we were in a great mood and enjoying the view. So be rest assured! While the locks may not work, the “resident Karen” does! She is a neighborhood watch of one, ready to defend things and houses that aren’t even hers… But overall, the lock issue was nothing and the place was immaculate. Only a very short walk to see spectacular views of the Blue Ridge as well as Pilot Mountain and the Sauratown range. Very friendly and helpful residents in neighborhood.
