The welcome 'gift basket' was thoughtful. Communication with the hosts were excellent, there was a small hiccup but they were on top of it immediately. Not to their fault but google maps shows the unit further north than the actual location but the rail toad crossing in the side of the fence helped make sure we never missed our turn. The property beautifully combines its historic charm with thoughtful modern updates, making it a truly one-of-a-kind experience. The attention to detail in the renovation is outstanding—the space retains its original character while offering all the comforts you could need. From the cozy furnishings to the well-equipped kitchen, everything was spotlessly clean and perfectly arranged. The high ceilings and large windows let in so much natural light, and we loved the vintage touches throughout the space. The location is fantastic—just a short drive to downtown Apalachicola, where we explored local shops, restaurants, and the waterfront. It’s also a great base for nearby outdoor adventures, like visiting St. George Island or exploring the Apalachicola National Forest. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. They clearly take great pride in this special property, and it shows. Don’t let the humble utilitarian exterior cause hesitation. While the building is literally bombproof the interior is newly renovated, spacious and comfortable. There is a well stocked kitchen, washer and dryer and did I mention spacious! There is parking for a a couple of cars or a boat and you are minutes from down town. The boat ramps and beaches in St George or Cape San Blas are 20 minutes away.
