"Disappointing. While the hotel is in the process of being extended and refurbished, that did not include the room we stayed in which although spacious and clean was in need of an update. The hanging space and vanity were tiny, especially for such a large room. Eating out options at American River for dinner are extremely limited. Dinner at the hotel was expensive and service not to standard. While the staff were unfailingly polite, helpful and doing their best they were under resourced for the workload. Apparently, a tour bus group had checked in for that night. "

The host was attentive without being obtrusive and gave us several suggestions about where to eat and what to see. Highest of recommendations -- a real jewel."
