"2nd stay in a year "
Sir Albert is a fine luxurious base and you feel totally pampered there ( their beds are the comfiest I've ever slept on)but it's their staff that make it so. When I checked in I mentioned that I was doing the Amsterdam marathon the next day and they asked that given I was going to probably be exhausted after it, if I might like a room with a bath. I didn't realise the hotel did rooms with baths - they do, but it's only 2 rooms- and they managed to get me one of them. It was absolutely heavenly to be able to soak after running that distance, I can tell you. It's those little details and customer service delivery that really make this hotel so good. It's a wonderful place in a wonderful location but it wouldn't be anything without the quality of the staff who work there.

"Good hotel but make sure if u eat u sign it off! "
Booked this hotel last min as had an early flight (7am) which meant getting up at 4.30 to be ready for the 5.15am shuttle bus to the airport. I called the number advised in the room and booked a table and asked whether we had to pay cash or if it could go on the room. He said it will be charged on the room as we had supplied our credit card details. So We had dinner, which was nice, we were asked if we wanted dessert but explained we didn't and the waitress cleared our plates and we waited around 10 mins before leaving as all the waitresses disappeared. We just wanted to go to bed as we had had a busy weekend at the BSB in Assen and just wanted to get our head down for a few hours so we got up and walked out, walking passed the barman and a waitress that hadn't served us so I thought as we had booked the table, giving our room number that they would just charge the food to our room, to be paid on check out. We went to bed at 9pm and straight to sleep to be RUDELY awoken by a telephone call from a stroppy receptionist at 10.30pm explaining I needed to go down and sign for the food. I albeit a bit dazed having been asleep explained I was told it would be added to my room to which she told me It would but I had to sign for it. My husband got up and signed for it and then I couldn't get back to sleep for a good couple of hours as it had completely startled me, I thought when I woke up that it was the fire alarm, then the way in which i was spoken to! Terrible.

"Lovely hotel in a fantastic location"
We had a wonderful weekend at the Park Hotel. It is perfectly located for heading into the centre, visiting museums or taking a walk through the park. It is on a busy street but we could not hear any noise at all from our room. The staff are incredibly helpful with everything from dinner bookings to providing bikes, and the hotel facilities are great. The beds are also unbelievably comfortable!

Bastion Hotel Amsterdam Noord

Rode Kruisstraat 28, Amsterdam - Map
I was looking for a place to stay for one week that wasn't too expensive and where I could get a bit of rest from constant travel. I was pleased overall, especially with the spacious room. Nice that they gave a voucher for a free drink on arrival. That said, the bathroom constantly smelled pretty funky. The staff was somewhere between helpful and rude - half the time I really couldn't tell. There's next to nothing to do in the area, especially at night, but I took a bus each morning for 2.90Euro and was at the Central Station. At night, I Ubered. Public transport after midnight is limited. Consider this in the cost. I wasn't disappointed, since I got a decent deal relative to whatever else was available last minute, but if you want to be in the middle of the action and don't want to waste time getting around, this isn't the place for you.
