"This was a great place to stay in Mount Crested Butte. The place itself was tidy and clean. It has a nice couch and TV area as well as a little kitchen area. The bed is also nice and comfortable. The host was very communicative and when there was one issue that popped up it got sorted out quickly and efficiently with good communication. I like that this place was not far from down town and was a nice place with easy access to trails and the downtown. We had a great stay."

Frequently asked questions

How much does a budget hotel in Almont cost?
Budget hotel prices in Almont vary, but you can find a great deal from CA $189 on Expedia. To find the cheapest budget hotels, be flexible with your dates—typically, off-peak and mid-week stays are cheaper. Stretch your budget further by looking for hotels with free breakfast, free parking or free airport shuttles. Sort your search results by "Price: low to high" to see our lowest rates.
When is the most affordable time to visit Almont?
The most affordable time to visit Almont, Colorado, is typically during the shoulder seasons—late spring (May to early June) and early autumn (September to October)—outside of the peak summer and winter tourist rushes. During these periods, you'll find lower prices on accommodation and fewer crowds, allowing for a more relaxed and budget-friendly experience.

For solo travellers, visiting in late spring offers the chance to enjoy outdoor activities like fishing and hiking as the weather warms up, but before the peak summer rates kick in. Many local outfitters and guides might offer off-season discounts on equipment rentals or excursions, and the surrounding natural beauty, like the Taylor River, is just as stunning without the crowds.

Couples looking for a peaceful getaway will appreciate early autumn in Almont. The aspens turn golden, creating breathtaking scenery, and the cooler temperatures are superb for scenic drives or leisurely walks. Accommodation prices tend to drop after the summer holidays, and you can often find good deals on charming cabins or guesthouses.
Is Almont a budget-friendly destination?
While Almont, Colorado, is generally considered more expensive, particularly given its proximity to popular outdoor adventure hubs, travellers can absolutely experience its natural beauty on a budget with some smart planning.

For solo travellers and couples, focusing on the abundance of free outdoor activities is key. The area offers incredible opportunities for hiking, fishing in the Taylor River, and exploring the Gunnison National Forest, all without an entry fee. Bringing your own camping gear and staying at one of the many national forest campgrounds can reduce accommodation costs compared to hotels or lodges.

When it comes to dining, self-catering is your best friend. Stock up on groceries in a larger town before arriving in Almont, as local options can be pricier. Pack lunches for your outdoor adventures and prepare simple meals at your campsite. Alternatively, look for local cafes or small eateries that offer good value for money, often found a short drive away in nearby towns.
