Staff was helpful and room was relatively clean and comfortable. The hotel is close to food and stores. The room did not have a window though and the transport from the airport mentioned in the description of the hotel does not exist.
Big thanks to all personnel, especially the receptionists who help guests with the check in process and helping with WiFi and the like. Great location, close to the USA embassy.
In general, the rooms are lacking of maintenance: no stable hot water supply, tap water is milky, air-conditioner isn't functioning properly, the bed and pillows aren't comfortable, and the toilet has odors.
But the location is very good, near the big shopping mall Dostyk Plaza.
And the front desk staff is helping, willing to change room for us. But the staff doesn't know how to register our stay in Almaty with the Immigration authorities, when this is a must for every tourist staying more than 5 days in the country.
My stay at this hotel was unsatisfactory. On the day of arrival, I was given a room without a window or any air conditioning or fan, and the room temperature was like that of a sauna. When I went to the reception to complain about it, the receptionist told me that in order to change rooms, I would have to pay 85,000 Uzbek som. I explained that I had already paid enough for the hotel. The next morning, when a different receptionist was on duty, I spoke with them again, and the new receptionist changed my room without asking for any additional payment. However, the TV in my new room didn’t work, and we chose not to complain about it.
Additionally, if you assume that breakfast is included, you would be mistaken. At a 4-star hotel, I would expect breakfast to be included, but not at this one. The only positive aspect of this hotel is its location, close to the U.S. embassy, a shopping mall, and restaurants. I would rate this hotel as a 2-star motel.

Location is perfect- near everything and anything you need. 24 hours front desk is a lifesaver. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Rooms spacious with nice size comfortable beds. Strong WiFi. The only negative are bathrooms: everything was broken: toilet, sink, shower, plumbing. I also would prefer more soundproofing of the rooms.
It was worst staying , there is no room service for cleaning, no hot water coming to shower. After multiple complaints also staff ignored.
Zero recommendations
Never book this hotel. I booked this hotel for my mother-in-law in order for her to go to US consulate there. When they arrived, the hotel asked for more money saying that because we booked via Expedia, they don't get much money. They declined to pay more and the hotel called the cops and kicked my parents without a refund. Never ever book this hotel.
This was a prepaid booking. Hotel reception refused to check me in, saying they did not receive the money from Expedia. A day later hotel sent me an email asking for feedback of my stay even though I was not checked in. I’ve never had a funny situation like this. They have not refunded my money until now.

Disliked: Amenities
“Tired” property. Only one floor of three looks satisfactory and dare to be called 3, not 4 stars. No proper working internet, scares food at breakfast. May be considered good for small money it costs. Do not expect a miracle: for that you are getting old and very firm mattress, worn out towels and bed linen, no mini bar and no safe at not refurbished floors. Anyway it is good from outside with marble and glass. Combined with Soviet stile shopping center at the first three floors. But cheap price ....

It was right across the street from a mall with lots of food choices.
The hotel has a good location between Dostyk & Nazarbayeva streets and 50m walk to Dostyk Plaza mall. The rooms are out-dated, allmost without maintenance and during our stay we saw a major water damage in one of their suites. Hotel breakfast is very weak. This hotel could work for someone who just needs a decent room (warm water works normally) for a cheap price in a very convenient location and is ready to eat somewhere else.

A hotel remodel in progress
It is valued well for being so close to all the major attractions in Almaty. Directly across the street from the Dostyk Mall. Area is full of attractions all within easy walking distance from this Hotel.
The staff are knowledgeable and most speak English very well. The rooms are clean and the buffet breakfast helps.
The Grand Eurasia Hotel is being remodeled on the interior so it is a work in progress. So one could judge the hotel harshly or look at it as a bargain with name brand hotels being far more expensive in the area. With the currency valuation of the US Dollars to the Kazakh Tenge , I would say it is a nice value. It is a beautiful city with so many trees and the locals are so helpful. Many restaurants close by and all worth exploring.
There is a restaurant attached to the Hotel which offers homemade cuisine so if one wishes you only need take the elevator down to the 1st floor and head out the hallway door and walk to the end of the hallway. It's cuisine is Kazakhstan which are made daily ! The deserts are pure heaven and one should try all. My personal favorite was a pastry filled with sweet banana.
Everything on the menu is so tasty and of course made fresh daily throughout the day ! It is open from 0800 to 2100 hrs.

Great convenient location!
The hotel is near to mall, playgrounds for young children and across from US embassy, American citizen services. If you need to conduct business there, this hotel is great. Staff are kind and the breakfast is ample and served in a magnificent ballroom.
