COTTAGE LOCATION; The cottage is in a great location in Hatchet Bay which is small town with friendly people in the upper middle part of the island which is perfect for exploring everything to the north and south. We are located 25 minutes from Governor's Harbor Airport and 35 minutes from North Eleuthera Airport. The little town has restaurants, bars, beaches and food stores you can walk to. It is very safe and friendly even for single female visitors at night. There are many other additional world class beaches and other restaurants and adventures within minutes of the cottage. It is super important to be in a great location on an island that is 100 miles long and half a mile wide otherwise you are in for a lot of driving and very expensive gas prices. COTTAGE DESCRIPTION; The property is situated on a stunningly beautiful 2 acre peninsula with over 500 feet of shoreline and a few other cottages yet all are private with foliage and fencing. The studio style air conditioned cottage has an awesome deck that overhangs the ocean. There is a table and chairs for al-fresco dining and two lounge chairs for lying out in the sun. You will see Eagle Rays swimming by daily and all sorts of marine life from the deck. The interior is open and bright with fabulous ocean views from the sleeping area and the kitchen windows. Just keep in mind it is studio style design with a King bed in the sleeping area - please see our listing photos. Note we allow 2 adults and a small child 12 and under to stay, but we do not allow 3 adults. The bed is a very high quality memory phone mattress. Listening to the ocean each night as you fall asleep along with the gentle trade winds provides for some real peace and tranquility. A small inside dining table for 2 people and small, but full kitchen. The kitchen has a 4 burner gas stove with oven, kitchen sink, full size fridge, microwave, toaster, drip coffee maker and all the normal kitchen gadgets. There is a large bathroom with custom tile walk in shower. There is a 36" flat screen TV mounted on a wall shelf with cable TV. The property has Wi-Fi, both inside the cottage an on the expansive property grounds. There are beach chairs, outdoor shower and a charcoal grill. \*\*\*Safety note if you are traveling with small children, the deck railings run horizontal and not vertical so a small child could fit through the slats just so you are aware. See photos to see what we mean. Overall this is one of the most stunning rentals on the island with the insanely dramatic deck views all at an affordable price. SUPPORT THE LOCAL ECONOMY; Unlike the 95% of rental properties that are owned by foreigners, this property is owned by the McCardy family who are local Bahamians. So the funds you are spending goes right back into the local economy versus being wired to some foreign bank account which we think is pretty darn awesome. PETS AND SUPPORT ANIMALS: Please note we do not accept any pets, emotional, support or therapy animals due to extreme allergies/health related issues in our family. ELEUTHERA IS NOT FOR EVERYONE; If Miami Beach or Vegas is your thing we respectfully suggest you pick a different destination. Eleuthera is a sleepy island with some flaws; bad roads, dated infrastructure, there can be power / water / internet outages and the occasional gecko on the wall. The trade off is going back in time 75 years to an unspoiled gorgeous island where you will explore the most stunning beaches you have ever seen and have them usually all to yourself. The seafood is fantastically good. The people are warm and genuine, crime is very low and the vibe is super chill. It is centrally located within minutes of extraordinary, uncrowded beaches. We met Nicole (property owner) while we were there and she was awesome. the bed was very comfortable and the air conditioning worked great. We were warned about electricity outages, but we did not experience any. The place is small, as advertised, but we found it to be very adequate and well-stocked. Some of the kitchenware was older, but we found it to be adequate for our needs. My wife and I just returned from this trip today. The property has simply amazing views. The Cottage we stayed in "Sea Spray" lives up to its name. It was amazing to crack the windows at night and fall asleep listening to waves crash into the rocks! The cottage was extremely clean and perfect for our needs. The owner was friendly upon check-in as well. If you want a nice cottage getaway for two, this has everything you could want. Enjoy the laid back vibes and beauty this island and cottage has to offer. Just about 3-5 mins away was Hidden beach. It lives up to its name and we had it yourselves. Nicole was there to answer any questions we had. Honestly, we were disappointed that the description highlighted the many wonderful places to eat in the area. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Apr 13, 2025 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### Great deck this little place is perfect for 2\. clean and perfectly appointed. .bed was supper comfortable. we were here for 6 days. the deck looks out over the ocean and the set up lets you bask in the sun or sit in shade at different times of the day. we never used the ac. great breezes. we had breakfast here every morning and ate at the front porch and da lish. visited awesome surfers beach and lovers beach. took a day trip to harbor island and the beautiful beach there. this little place is very private and a perfect place to stay if you want to be comfortable and explore. we will definitely return! ##### cindy m. The view from the deck was amazing, we watched sea turtles, spotted rays and a variety of fish. It’s perfect for spending a day exploring the island then grilling and eating on the deck with its fabulous views. There is even a sea turtle that comes by to show off every afternoon! We arrived a day late due to flight issues and Nicole was flexible in letting us change everything by a day. We had a great AC, an outdoor shower, and the views were incredible. The bed was probably the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on. Plenty of privacy and we even saw a sea turtle from our deck. We saw sting rays from the deck, and watched every sunrise and sunset. The house was stocked with the basics, but also had books and maps of the island beaches and snorkeling spots, left by the owners or past guests. We contributed a map to the pile when we left. Couldn’t have asked for more. It was gorgeous and felt completely private, with the safety of knowing the owner was close by if needed. Highly recommend. ##### Heather M. We knew what to expect on Eleuthra from friends that have also travelled. The trip planner was also very helpful. The cottage had good AC and all appliances worked for our needs. I loved breakfasts on the deck before going out to explore the island everyday. The outdoor shower was awesome and private. Definitely recommend! ##### JULIA D. Everything was exactly as pictured. Kitchen was small but we had everything we needed to cook a daily breakfast. Bed was extremely comfortable. Best part was the deck with the million dollar view. Stars were incredible at night also. Great neighborhood to stay in with walking distance to a few restaurants and friendly neighbors to greet whenever we went for walks. It’s challenging to get around the settlements because there are very few street signs or signage on businesses. Don’t be afraid to ask around for what you what. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating throughout our stay (10 days). We found Hatchet Bay to be great little settlement to call home. Several days we saw a turtle swimming by. This was a great base for exploring the island. The cottage was very clean and had everything you need. We really loved having coffee every morning out on the deck enjoying the awesome views. At night we sat outside and marveled at all the stars we could see. We were looking for a quiet affordable space, centrally located in Eleuthera so we could explore the island, enjoy some snorkeling and beach time and local food. Sea Spray was perfect. the bedding was lush. The kitchenette convenient and well appointed The view from the deck was mesmerizing. We saw eagle rays, tarpon, parrot fish and barracuda swimming by. The water was so clear. A great snorkel and beautiful walk on a nice quiet beach was just a 100 yds away. We found awesome restaurants with amazing views just minutes away. We stayed at Seaspray Cottage over the Christmas holiday and found the property to be exactly what we needed for a relaxing, unplugged vacation. The cottage is very clean and cozy for 2 people with a comfortable bed. The cottage had everything we needed for cooking meals, plus beach towels, beach chairs and a cooler. Water pressure in shower is excellent, too. The view from the deck is stunning and we loved being able to have our coffee and breakfast there each morning. We saw stingrays one morning which was pretty awesome. The grounds are also very pretty and well maintained. The location was perfect for our daily adventures whether going north or south. We also loved being able to walk to some local restaurants/bars. All of the locals in the area are very welcoming and friendly. The detailed guide sent ahead of our trip was invaluable. I highly recommend Seaspray Cottage and will definitely stay here again. We fell in love with Eleuthera and hope to return soon! ##### Tracey S.
