Its generous 80m2 are distributed between a spacious living room, kitchen, two bedrooms (sleeps 5 people) and 1 bathroom. It is modern brightly decorated with a touch of 'Mediterranean'. Despite its rural setting, the location is very convenient, with the nearest beach (Sao Martinho do Porto) only 7 minutes away by car, and Alfeizerao's International Equestrian Center (CEIA) within walking distance where you can find a great restaurant serving a three course meal (lunch) for 7.50 euros! The food is great and it's a 5 minutes walking distance from the property. The garden, shared with Quinta da Mota II has well distributed shady and sunny areas, including a hammock under the palm trees and a barbecue area. The brand new outdoor swimming pool has a salty water new technology that takes less chlorine therefore gentle to your skin. It is also a generous size 9mx4m. There is the possibility to rent both properties for a bigger group. Quinta da Mota II is also a detached cottage with two bedrooms, living room, a bathroom and a kitchen. Both properties could accommodate up to 9-10 guests. If you are interested in renting both, please mention this in your booking / enquiry. Overview of the area Sao Martinho Do Porto: Retaining its Portuguese charm and character, Sao Martinho do Porto, where the nearest beach is located, is a remarkably picturesque seaside town. The town is built around the sheltered bay that provides for safe bathing away from the strong Atlantic currents. The bay also benefits from warmer waters thanks to its sheltered location which are ideal for practising a variety of water sports available. There are life guards on the beach during the summer and the beach is cleaned most days showing off its beautiful iridescent silver sand which is where the area gets its name from. Surrounding the bay there are numerous cafés and restaurants where the majority of the food on offer is typical Portuguese (superb seafood), though there is also a very good Italian & also a Swiss restaurant along the front of the bay too (with English translation on their menus). We can recommend: Acasa – Excellent service & fresh fish you can choose. Carvalho – In Main St – Old Town centre. Level with the back of Hotel Atlantica. Very good value. O'Farol - located on the beach itself with the best views and good value. If relaxing on the green is what takes your fancy there are a number of excellent well established golf courses in the surrounding area, and more are planned. There are a few small supermarkets in Alfeizerao and Sao Martinho, which also has larger supermarket (Intermarche) for the weekly shop. Alternatively, another large supermarket – Modelo – located in Caldas da Rainha is very well socked with fresh local produce, meat and fish, as well as covering all other shopping needs. Climate & vicinity Sao Martinho do Porto enjoys an idyllic climate that tends not to reach oppressive extremes of hot or cold. Daytime temperatures mid-summer tend to range between 26ºC and 34ºC. Mid-winter daytime temperatures typically range between 14ºC and 18ºC. Within the vicinity of Sao Martinho is the beautiful historic town of Obidos (approximately 10 min drive) which overlooks the Obidos lagoon (the largest lagoon in Europe). Similarly to Sao Martinho, the lagoon provides safe bathing away from the strong Atlantic currents. Sao Martinho's other neighbouring towns include Nazare and Peniche, typical Portuguese seaside towns which offer a good number of cafés, bars and excellent restaurants. Suggestions for exploratory days out: You must visit the beautiful medieval castle of Obidos with its quirky little streets, only 10 minutes by car, were you find a range of fine Portuguese restaurants and experience fine dining at its best. The exquisite Berlangas archipelago is also a must. It is a natural reservation with fantastic opportunities for bird watching and there is also an amazing beach between the cliffs. To get there you must catch the boat from Peniche that is 15 minutes' drive from the property. Peniche is also fantastic for its fresh fish market and surfing. The beaches of Peniche and Baleal are considered the best in Europe for surfing. If golf is your passion, then Royal Obidos Golf Resort, Golfe do Bom Sucesso and Praya del Rey, with its immaculate greens, great location and beautiful private beaches, will offer you a great experience. And don't forget that beautiful Lisbon is 50 minutes' drive away. This is an amazing city waiting to be discovered: do include the characteristic Fado (traditional portuguese music) and regional cuisine in a typical Bairro Alto taverna, a visit to Sintra palace (amazing views over the city) and also some time in the Alfama area (Mosteiro dos Jeronimos), where most of the old architecture is centred. How to get here Lisbon Airport is recommended as it is an easy drive along the A8 taking between 40-50 minutes depending on traffic. Use Alfeizerao as your destination on your GPS, leave the A8 motorway at junction 20 and head north on the N8 for 4 Km. You'll find Quinta da Mota on a left turn off the N8, just before the building where CEIA (Centro Equestre Internacional de Alfeizerao) is located. Communication was excellent, by phone and in person, before and during our stay. We were welcomed by Terese who gave us a personalised guide to the property. Nothing was too much trouble -thank you for the welcome pack! There is a supermarket just down the road which is more than adequate and the Equestrian Centre also nearby which served excellent lunches - especially the Sunday buffet. Though the closest bars were a short drive away being able to sit out on the property's large terrace of an evening with a glass of wine in hand more than made up for it. If you’re looking for a calm and relaxing rural setting look no further. We recommend that you book this holiday home without any hesitation you won’t be disappointed. ##### sandra c. Es ist neu renovuert worden mit einer sehr schönen Außenanlage. Sauber und der Kontakt zum Vermieter war hervorragend. Sehr netter Kontakt. Auf Fragen bekam man in kürzester Zeit Antwort und einige sehr gute Empfehlungen. Das Haus liegt etwas abseits an einer Apfelplantage. Ein Mietwagen ist daher sehr wichtig. Strände, Einkaufen, Sehenswürdigkeiten sind aber im Umkreis von 5-15min mit dem Auto vorhanden. Alles war sehr problemlos und entspannt. ##### Marco S. We had a fantastic time. Lovely beach nearby and amazing restaurants. The house was very clean and had everything you need. Wonderful swimming pool aswell. Dec 8, 2018 #### Great villa in quiet location and fantastic pool This is such a wonderful gem of a property, so clean and well looked after in a rural setting equiped with everything you need. The pool is to die for! To be honest it is classed as "shared" but there is only one other house with access to it so we never saw more than 2 other people and there were plenty of sun loungers around and space for everyone. We went in September and the weather was still great, the beach is very close and you have local restaurants and supermarkets in walking distance. To be honest we barely left the place as it has everything you need! Also my little boy loved the sand pit, it kept him entertained each morning; overall very pleased and will likely book again for next year! ##### Toni A. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Helen Marie M. Sep 21, 2018 #### Entspannung pur Unser Urlaub war sehr schön. Sehr sauber, gemütlich und mit vielen kleinen Details wird Quinta da Mota zu einer echten Entspannungsoase. Der Pool und der Garten waren toll! Rundum ein sehr schöner Urlaub. Ein Auto sollte man jedoch mieten, außer man möchte alle Tage am Pool verbringen :) Das Restaurant direkt nebenan / CEIA können wir auch nur wärmstens empfehlen. Jul 20, 2018 #### Das Haus war sehr schön mit allem was man braucht ausgestattet. Der Urlaub hat uns gut gefallen, da das Haus sehr bequem mit toller Ausstattung eingerichtet war. Es fehlt nur eine Terrasse auf die man sich z.B. zum Essen setzen kann. Wenn man draussen essen möchte muss man immer eine Treppe hinunter und dann könnte es sein, dass aus der anderen Wohneinheit dort schon jemand sitzt. Desweiteren ist der Ausblick nicht der romantischste. Wer also auf Meerblick und grüne Wiesen steht, ist hier falsch aufgehoben. Ansonsten toller, sauberer Pool, super Grundstück und genügend Liegen und Stühle am Pool. Brötchen und den kleinen Einkauf kann man ganz in der Nähe zu Fuß holen. Für alles andere braucht man auf jeden Fall ein Auto. ##### Annett W. Jun 23, 2016 #### Erholsamer Urlaub in wundervoller Umgebung Wir verbrachten ein paar sehr schöne Tage im Quinta da Mota I. Es liegt sehr idyllisch zwischen Apfelbaumplantage und altem Bauernhof und ist mit dem Auto sehr gut zu erreichen. Das Haus ist liebevoll eingerichtet und es ist alles vorhanden, was einen gelungenen Urlaub ausmacht. Wir wurden am Ankunftstag mit Wein und frischem Brot überrascht. In den größeren Ortschaften der Umgebung gibt es viele Einkaufsmöglichkeiten; wir haben uns am Liebsten bei Continente mit regionalen Produkten versorgt. Die Küste erreicht man in ca. 10 Minuten. Auch Porto und Lissabon sind von hier aus auch für einen Tagestrip gut zu erreichen. Und gibt es doch einmal ein Problem, hilft Joao sofort weiter. Wir kommen sicher einmal wieder! ##### Angela K. May 10, 2016 #### Un agréable séjour Nous sommes restés 4 nuits à la Quinta da Mota I. Notre objectif était de nous reposer et de profiter du jardin et de la piscine mais manque de chance, il n'a pas fait tout le temps beau pendant notre séjour. Nous en avons profité pour nous balader. La maison est bien placée car rien n'est vraiment bien loin (plages et vieilles pierres). La maison est conforme à ce qui est décrit avec un accès internet qui marche très bien (chacun ses priorités !) On peut y trouver tout ce dont on a besoin dans la salle de bain et la cuisine. Il y a un fond de cuisine, ce qui est toujours appréciable et 2 bouteilles de vin et du pain frais nous attendez. Merci beaucoup pour cette attention ! Côté jardin, il nous manquait une chaise longue (nous étions 3) car celles d'à côté étaient occupées mais rien de grave. La piscine est commune aux 2 Quintas et les occupants de la Quinta II nous on laissé des moments d'intimité autour de la piscine. C'était très aimable à eux. J'ai juste 1 bémol, la N8 (je crois) ne passe vraiment pas loin et on peut entendre le bruit des voitures aux heures de pointe. Ce n'est pas si gênant que cela mais ne pensez pas vous retrouver en totale campagne. ##### Muriel B. Apr 27, 2015 #### Great stay, lovely break with friends in excellent I have just returned from a long weekend at Quinta da Mota and I absolutely loved it! I went with a group of 8 friends and we rented both cottages ( Quinta da Mota 1 and 2), each can accommodate 4 guests comfortably. The place was very clean, it has great facilities, it's quiet and private and really close to the beach. You would need to rent a car to get there , but it is really worth it! The beach is a short drive away ( 5 minutes), and there is an equestrian center/farm that has a restaurant /cafe and great fresh food at affordable prices. The weather was great for April, it was sunny every single day and you only needed a jumper in the evening. There are loads of placed to visit ( I've been in the area before so we knew where to go), Obidos is not far away we went for the day and would highly recommend visiting it. I will probably go back at some point this year, it's such a tranquil cozy place it really makes you feel like home and we're looking forward to going back !
