Island Retreat Retreat sits on a 5 acre lake and is the perfect destination for you in Albany Ohio! Relax and stargaze around a firepit, or watch an amazing sunrise. The 6-acre Lake offers some great fishing, canoeing or kayaking, and some much-needed rest and relaxation. Plenty of nature in the nature preserve from deer, fox, ducks and geese. Take a 45 minute drive from your vacation rental to visit Old Man’s Cave, Cedar Falls, Ash Cave, Rock House, Conkle’s Hollow, or Rock Bridge located in Hocking Hills State Park. The cabin boasts 4 comfortable bedrooms, large living spaces, and a spacious kitchen. Traveling is a breeze when you stay with us as the lakeside lodge retreat is fully equipped with great amenities. Property offers an outdoor hot tub, fire pit, and great quality time. State Parks, lakes, canoe & kayaking, ziplining and so much more all located within a short distance from the property. Upon arrival to the Island Retreat, guests will be greeted to two vacation rentals with awesome lake views. Guests will pleasantly be surprised upon entering the retreat because they will be welcomed to a 3 living areas between two properties offering open concept living, dining and kitchen areas. After spending the day outdoors, family and friends can relax on the relaxing sofas to watch movies, cook homemade meals in the fully equipped kitchen, or play card games around the kitchen table. There are 7 spacious bedrooms that our guests can head to after a long day of hiking in the local area. There is a comfortable yard and plenty of field space for your dog(s) to roam around. Our favorite features of the retreat is the lake views, firepit and outdoor space. Guests can enjoy quality time underneath the beautiful Hocking Hills and Wayne National Forest stars. The outdoor firepit gives our guests the opportunity to share memories, tell stories, and roast marshmallows around a crackling fire. The front porch and spacious yard allows our guests to enjoy flamed grilled food and play yard games. The hot tub is located for easy access on the back side of house so guests can utilize this anytime of the year. Guests will walk into the retreat to a beautiful, spacious living area and fully equipped kitchen. The 6 bedrooms offer a place for our customers to “hit the hay” after a day of exploring all the nearby state parks. When staying here, guests will want to utilize one of the best features - the outdoor space. The back deck is spacious, allowing our guests to enjoy cookouts, eat around the picnic table, take in the wonderful views, and relax in the hot tub. Wander over to the newly renovated firepit with benches, Adirondack chairs, and a swing. The overlooks the private lake Spend time under the stars, creating memories and roasting marshmallows around a crackling, warm fire. The seven bedrooms, each with their own charm, are perfect for family members or friends. 7 bedrooms offer a queen-sized bed, while the other features two queen and last bedroom offers a full-size bed, making it ideal for children or groups of friends. The property’s two and half bathrooms are fully equipped with modern fixtures and plenty of space, making it easy for everyone to get ready for the day or unwind at night. One of the most notable aspects of the Pine Lake Retreat is its living spaces. I will say the place could use a good deep clean (carpets cleaned & shower curtains replaced etc.) and some basic wear-and-tear fixes. The garage didn’t seem to have been cleaned in a while; I ended up wiping down all the surfaces, including the ping pong table, because it clearly hadn’t been cleaned. I didn’t mind doing it, but I know other guests probably wouldn’t appreciate that.We made Thanksgiving dinner during our stay, and the main issue we had was with the ovens. Two out of the three really need to be replaced. Other than that, we LOVE coming here. I have never encountered a house in such shape on VRBO. They have always looked lovelier than the pictures. The lake was green covered. Not happy at all with the place. There were some A/C issues in the apartment above the garage and the back bedroom. Needs some tlc but for the price and the amount of people it holds, you get what you pay for. The maintenance contractor was still there working on the hot tub when we arrived at 4:30 but we didn’t mind, it was nice that the hot tub was being drained and cleaned from the last guests. Overall, I would recommend for a quick weekend stay with your friends! ##### Abby H. There was a ton of room for the six of us adults that ended up going on our long weekend. There was a big problem with ants, I know it’s a problem this time of the year, I struggle with them at my house. I just wish that they hadn’t been there. Floors , table, counter tops filthy. Hot tub and grill were not maintained. Work remote and last day had no internet and had to check out and get a hotel to be able to work. First Choice offered 15 percent off our next stay there lol. VRBO was no more help than First Choice was. Won’t be using either again for stays. ##### brad c. They enjoyed fishing off the deck more than anything and also enjoyed the hot tub. It was perfect! We stayed on Easter and had an egg hunt for the kids and grilled out. All of the amenities were great it had 7 rooms total so it fit everyone comfortably. Only thing that was a problem but they mentioned they’d fix it after we left was one of the bonfire chairs were broken so we had to grab another chair. Also they mentioned they had a check in the same day we checked out so it did kind of feel rushed because maintenance was already there before checkout time which they notified me about, but I would’ve still wished to sit down and enjoy the view one last time after locking up but wasn’t able to do so which is fine. This rental had plenty of room for our extended family which is really three separate small families with each able to have their privacy areas yet all be together on the same property. I booked the Island Retreat for My brother's Family of 4; my family of 5; my other brother; and my parents. 12 people total. This location was perfect for us; everyone got enough room to sleep comfortably. The dock was perfect with the shade on one side; we did A LOT of fishing! There was a canoe and peddle boat on the dock waiting for us. We used them a lot as well. There are 2 other locations on the same lake; we could hear others at times, but nothing disruptive. The location was safe and remote, but not too remote where you wouldn't be able to get any last minute things for your stay. This made for such a great and memorable trip for my whole family. ##### Benjamin H. The room was SOAKED and completely unusable. - The home with the two bedrooms had a mouse in it. Mouse poop was in the kitchen cabinets so we chose to not use that area at all. - I wouldnt say the place was filthy, but it was not in any condition to believe someone came to clean the place prior to our arrival. There were ants, dust, and dirt everywhere. Overall, we were disappointed with the conditions of the home. I was hoping 1st Choice would be willing to provide a partial reimbursement but instead, they ignored my concerns entirely. ##### Michele B. The 3 bedrooms in the main house did not have AC and the 2 above the garage the AC did not keep up so it was very hot. There was a window unit in the kitchen that worked but did very little for the bedrooms. I reached out to the manager who told me there were box fans for each room but when it's 80 degrees inside, those really do not help much. WIFI was unusable. There was quite a bit of trash under the deck unfortunately. Location was good and the lake was nice. The house has many half finished updates going on.
