With the help of a $2,600 gift from the Hazard family, Holley organized a board of trustees and purchased 50 acres (200,000 m2) of land for the campus, all within a year. The aim of the institution at the time was to provide elementary education and teacher training for the local Black population. It was turned over to the state of Georgia in 1917 as Georgia Normal and Agricultural College, a two-year agricultural and teacher-training institution. In 1932, the school became part of the University System of Georgia and in 1943 it was granted four-year status and renamed Albany State College. The transition to four-year status heavily increased the school's enrollment. The interior pictures are accurate. It appears to be an older house that has been revitalized. However, while the owner has done a good job with exterior lighting and surveillance, I would not want my wife or daughter entering this property alone at night since you must enter from the rear of the property. The rooms were clean and comfy, restroom a little small but adequate and clean. Extra paper and soap was available in the cabinet. We enjoyed using the tv in the living room but the couches were a bit stiff. We did use pillows from the closet to make it more comfortable to sit in there. The kitchen was clean and several pans, dishes, appliances were helpful. The washer and dryer were used once and I appreciated having them. I brought my own detergent but there was some in there if I had needed it. Neighborhood was beautiful, near a historical though so there was a bit of emergency vehicle noise.
