It is located on the San Luis Valley floor which is 7,500 ft above sea level. Mount Blanca, one of Colorado's 14ers , overlooks it.My favorite spot was the huge deck great for a leisurely coffee in the morning and star gazing at night. No bugs, no noise. Nothing but nature. Chris lives on the adjoining property and anytime I texted him he wouldrespond immediately.The house is very well equipped and the bed is very comfortable. We enjoyed the outside fire and chairs. A downfall is there are a couple of dilapidated trailers/buildings next door which are an eyesore.The cabin is very clean and we appreciated the washer, dryer, dishwasher, and other essentials. The pullout bed and the bed in the bedroom were extremely hard and uncomfortable. We did not sleep great due to this. The sheets on the pullout bed also didn’t fit right cause the mattress to pull up in the corners. To us, and many people, quality mattresses are important. It was nice to have two AC units which kept it very cool. The kitchen was missing some essentials like plastic wrap, Tupperware, and aluminum foil.Overall, we enjoyed our stay but the property could use a few tweaks. ##### Cameron D. We decided on a weekend trip to Alamosa to see the dunes and reptile park. Great location for a base camp. Very dog friendly. It was classic Colorado spring and we had very high winds the first night/day and our power went off (entire region was out). Chris our host was prompt to respond and called power company to get an estimate of when it would return and offered to bring over a heater. Fortunately, power returned within 30 minutes so all was good. Would recommend this location and would return if we are ever back down to Alamosa. ##### Ronee B. Chris is an excellent host, and he offered advice on other area attractions that were not on our list, so we also visited Zapata Falls (a gorgeous dog friendly hike - be prepared to get wet to see the falls, but it's worth it!) and the Gator Farm, allowing my 10-yr--old to fulfill his lifelong dream of holding an alligator. This was just one stop on a family road trip, and he still says the Gator Farm was his favorite part, so thanks for the recommendation Chris! It was very private with full views of Mount Blanca and other 14ers in the distance. Easy half hour drive to the dunes. Medano creek was flowing but the sand was too hot to walk on during the daytime , so we went back for a sunset hike to the top... incredible! The basic furnishings were adequate for our needs for a few days. Chris and his dog live on the four acre property, and he was incredibly helpful when we needed him a couple of times. He went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and ensure we had everything we needed. We enjoyed relaxing and stargazing on the deck in our downtime. Wifi worked great. We were grateful for the AC as it was quite hot during the daytime. Compared to other rental options we considered, this place felt like a great value. ##### Lyndsey B. Chris met me upon arriving and showed around the house, gave ideas on trails and things to do. He even had a dog crate there and a fully fenced kennel outside. Books, sucked kitchen, bathroom, and the views were simply amazing from every room. Chris has done a wonderful job to make a well put together one bedroom cabin in the San Luis Valley looking towards mountains and the Great Sand Dunes National Park! It is modern with lots of great technology but also cabin cozy comfy with the beautiful pictures on the wall, a bookshelf full of eclectic volumes, lots of window views of amazing mountains, and a kitchen with the necessities to be able to eat in. Loved the entry room or mud room as it gave a buffer for the really cold windy weather located there during this time of year. Located about 9 miles outside of Alamosa it was far anough to feel isolated but not so far that is was isolated. I made runs into town for various things during our stay and the cabin served as a great hub for our visits to the different sides of the valley and three visits to the Dunes! Chris’s hospitality and responsiveness to our questions and needs was bar none the best we have ever experienced. Our dogs did well staying here with us and loved the fenced in area where we could allow them off leash for a little play time supervised. For older people (which we are), I would suggest including a grab bar in the really roomy and great shower. We thought the TV storage was unique and enjoyed the availability of streaming entertainment. For us, the couch was a bit on the hard side. What a great washer/dryer set up which was ideal to have in order to keep clothes ready for our next stop. ##### Cerrita P. Chris, the owner, was awesome and tried to greet us but we arrived late in the evening. He was very accommodating. The house itself provides solitude and relaxation with amazing views. The deck was great for star gazing at night and the simplicity of the home is what makes it so great. A romantic getaway would be perfect for this home for a couple nights.
