We had an excellent stay here. The staff was amazing. Kim behind the check-in desk was awesome. She went totally out of her way several times to help us with different issues. The hotel itself is very central to the city center. We were able to walk to to everything we wanted to do. It’s an older hotel, but staff is great and so centrally located, I recommend it!

Likes: The room is clean, and being cleaned everyday. Dislikes: I stayed in Room 216, and on the 2nd Day morning I had feedback to the Staff about the room A/C unit. That the Flaps isn't working, I had to use a Plastic Cup to stick it there so the Flaps stay open. And i had feedback the Filter is very Dirty. And I requested the Staff to have someone to fix it. But thru out my stay, nothing was being done on it and I do not have a feedback from the Staff.

During our stay there were a number of young people working at the front desk who were quite courteous and nice but unfortunately also a very rude older woman who refused even to try to help out with a problem. One morning (July 19) when the wifi transmitter wasn’t working properly and we couldn’t get online from our room, I asked this woman to turn the transmitter off and on again. Her response was that the signal worked fine for her, that the rebooting was impossible and that I should just use my computer in the reception area (which has no chairs or tables). That same evening, a young gentlemen who had taken over at the front desk willingly carried out the supposedly impossible rebooting, and furthermore apologized for some car honking outdoors even though this noise was obviously beyond his control. If you stay in this hotel, make sure any problems with your room happen at times when the rude and problematic staff member isn’t on duty (it was during the daytime on weekdays, for us).

Great value, excellent location.
Fantastic location and the price was reasonable. The bathrooms were clean and modern, the bed was nice. The hotel can use a bit of TLC but it had a charm about it. My TV didn't work and the clothes line didn't pull out and they couldn't seem to fix them. Internet was fine. The visitor center is nearby and was very helpful with tours and planning. Great restaurants nearby. A fun town to visit. Staff were always helpful at the hotel.

Great location and value.
This hotel was exceptionally located to do everything in Aix. A short walk from the bus station with convenient connections to TGV and Marsielle Airport. The room was clean and spacious, if a little off-beat. Although we were on the street side of the building, the room was very quiet and comfortable. The room was air conditioned and it worked well. The bathroom was generously sized, but could use a little updating. Overall, if my travels take me to Aix again, I would stay here.

Well located and comfortable
The room was comfortable and spacious if a little spartan although the fridge was a useful addition. A good sized bathroom and good shower. The old town was minutes walk away and there were an abundance of restaurants and cafes close by with the railway station within easy reach.

Basic hotel with a great location
When we arrived our room smelled like smoke, but the receptionist happily upgraded us to another room (which was a bit bigger too). The room was very basic, but very clean, and the bed was comfortable. We especially liked the location. It was easy to visit everything in Aix by foot.

This an old building that was turned to a hotel. Not up to standards. Staff can burley understand other language (English). So no communication was possible properly. We paid for breakfast but nothing was available as they said when we went to have breakfast. Totally disappointed overall!

Room was small and hotel is old, but this is expected in most European cities, for this price range. Location is close to town Ctr yet not far from old town. We used the local area train vs. TGV and station is comfortable walking distance to hotel. Overall satisfied with hotel, cleanliness, and the staff for the great value we found on orbitz.

Ideal Hotel To Explore Aix
Hôtel Artea Aix Centre is located approximately 10 minutes walk from the railway station with numerous shops, cafés, bars and restaurants close by. The hotel is located on a bustling road, however the road noise is virtually eliminated once inside the entrance. Reception is located on the first floor up a winding staircase. There is no lift/elevator so travellers with heavy suitcases take note! Check-in was straight-forward with helpful professional staff providing a numbered room key and WiFi code. My classic room was furnished with a double bed, chair and desk, tv, bathroom with toilet and bath tub (with mixer shower head), AC unit, radiators, large full-length mirror and bedside tables. Clean towels, tea/coffee making facilities and a bottle of water were also provided. The bedroom included a small area for hanging clothes and storage. The large window (facing the quiet road behind the hotel) included blackout curtains. The room was clean and tidy, but the decoration was a little dated and tired. The bed provided a comfortable nights' sleep. There was practically no noise or footfall from other hotel guests during the night. Breakfast and bar facilities were available but not sampled on this short one night stay. Check out was 11am and the staff had no problems holding my luggage for an extra hour. Overall, the Hôtel Artea Aix Centre is an ideal base to explore and retreat to after a long day sightseeing in this picturesque city.

Great location but family suite disappointing
The Hotel Artea is in a great location in Aix but the Family Suite that we got (2 rooms for 4 people) was actually an older apartment down the street and around the corner from the hotel in an entirely separate building. It was not in the hotel at all. The room was plain, needed some work and some paint repair. The bathroom was nicely updated but the toilet was in a separate room that had been a closet. Your knees almost hit the door when it was closed! Overall it was disappointing after the hotel and the hotel staff themselves had been so great. Lesson learned: Try to view a room before you pay for it.

Maybe nicer rooms are available than ours?
Hotel Artea was convenient and parking at the underground garage was easy and next door. Bathroom was nice, bed was clean and comfy. However, the room was ODD and felt a bit like a repurposed linen closet...long and skinny with very old double doors. We noticed all the other rooms on our floor were updated. As it is was just 1 night, it was fine, but definitely would have been a disappointing experience for multiple days. Hotel staff were sweet, friendly and helpful.

Trouble with the A/C; room far too hot. Had to sleep with window open to the street. Manager was officious and unfriendly and avoided speaking to me. Problems never resolved although the staff did try. Other than the stress of having to complain each of my four days, I enjoyed the room and the wee balcony and was very comfortable.

Close to city centre and coach station.
The hotel is located around 40 mins away from the Marseille airport by coach. It takes around 10 mins to get to the main area on foot from the hotel. Also there are many restaurants and bars nearby. Breakfast was €13 Euro but we didn't try it as it was close to bakery and cafe. The room was big enough for two. Air-conditioner was very useful to have as it was 31 degree.

Perfect location
Perfect location in the heart of lovely Aix-en-Provence. Quite small rooms with toilets ideal for guests with very short legs. Friendly staff whom we felt sorry for when they had to ask for a pathetic addition of €6 in extra tax for a room supposedly prepaid.

Great location but no elevator.
Helpful staff at a charming old hotel. Central location was very comvenient. BUT...there is a major flight of steps to negotiate in getting from street to check- in. That and lack of in-room safe were major drawbacks for my wife and me.
