Hand in hand take a thirty minute walk along the sandy beach to The Point Cafe Bar and Restaurant including shop, enjoy a drink with the friendly locals and a must is the freshest Blue Cod and Chips from the Takeaway. Feel like a short drive it’s worthwhile to drive 15 minutes to Nugget Point Light House and view the awesome scenery, a whole different world including Seal and Penguin Colonies. With the Southern Scenic Route at your door step take a day trip through the Catlins area and experience the Wow factors of this unique area. For those that just want to chill, on a cold wet windy day crank up the gas open fire, listen to the rain on the tin roof, roar of the sea, snuggle up on the sofa and watch a romantic movie or read that special book. Equally on the sunny day open up the French doors, listen to Birds and chill on the front deck with your poison of choice or better still rip off all those clothes and rest out on the very private back deck and soak up some Vitamin D and get a little bit of colour on those cheeks Special conditions: No extra guests. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking all your meals. The queen size bed is very comfortable and cozy nestled just behind a loveseat sofa in front of the TV. There is a spacious patio/deck area with comfortable furniture, and Webber gas bbq, well suited for entertaining. I enjoyed the view and walking distance to the beach and village area. The local pub has good food and staffed with friendly folks. There is grocery shopping within 20 minute drive to Balclutha. Paul is a great host who was very attentive when the WiFi internet speed dropped to almost nothing. He had it fixed the next day. If you want a fun, peaceful stay at the ocean, this is the place! ##### Peter V. The outside areas were also better than expected and we enjoyed both meals and relaxation in the spaces, which also enjoyed awesome views of the sweeping beach to Kaka Point village, a lovely 15minute walk away along the beach. Great view and location.The bad: you don't find out until close to check-in that you should bring your own drinking water and not flush the toilet too much. We lost power both mornings that we were there, one hour the first day and we left the second day after 2 1/2 hours without electricity. That means no water pump so no running water, the alarm will start beeping over and over again, no internet, no heat. Just two nights in this really comfy cottage was not long enough. The place had everything we needed, compact but did not feel cramped.
