During your vacation on Kos, visit Agios Stefanos Beach, a tranquil and picturesque strand made of soft sand. Lounge chairs and umbrellas stand in a line, facing the dramatic islet of Kastri and the surrounding mountains of the coastline of Kos. Wade into the clear, shallow water and play games with your family.

Sunbathe on the lounge chairs or rest with a book beneath an umbrella. Cool down with a dip in the water and swim toward the rocky bluff of Kastri rising from the sea. Adorning its lower section is a quaint chapel with a whitewashed façade and Grecian blue roof and trim. Admire the natural tower of rock rising from the upper layer of the islet and resembling a castle. The view of the island and chapel from Agios Stefanos Beach is one of the most iconic images of Kos.

Enjoy wandering along the coast, feeling the clean and soft sand squelch between your toes. Notice the abandoned vacation resort that creates an intriguing vibe.

Pedal boats, Jet Skis and kayaks are available to rent on the beach, allowing you to ride outward from the island and look back on the scenic sand.

Stroll through the wild coastline vegetation and inspect the array of colorful flowers. Beside the beach stands the Basilica Agios Stefanos, whose ruins are open to the public for free.

Agios Stefanos Beach is on the eastern side of Kefalos, on the southwestern end of the island of Kos. From the town of Kos, drive west for 23 miles (37 kilometers) to get here in about 45 minutes. Leave your car in the free parking area at the rear of the beach. In busier periods, during July and August, consider coming by tour bus.
