### Quiet villa with pool, 3 bed 2 bath, short walk to Elounda village and beach

Karfi is a detached 3-storey villa set in olive groves just outside the beautiful fishing village of Elounda. With private pool & garden, 2.5 balconies with sea and mountain views, 3 double rooms, 2 bathrooms, and full aircon, it sleeps 6\. Less than 10 minutes' walk from the village centre, with its lively bars, shops and restaurants the villa also has a fully-equipped kitchen (plus a basement utility area with washing machine) and is perfect for self-catering. Many local restaurants also deliver direct to the villa.  
  
The villa is situated down a private driveway surrounded by olive groves, yet is only a (genuine!) 10-minute walk from the centre of the bustling fishing village of Elounda with its Blue Flag-awarded beach and many bars, restaurants and shops. The 3-storey villa has its own secluded garden with flowers, shrubs, and fruit trees, and its own private pool (6m by 4m, available from April to mid-November) with 6 sun loungers (beach towels are also provided). The top floor of the villa comprises a light and airy open-plan living and dining area, with a large balcony overlooking the village and sea plus a smaller balcony with spectacular views of Mount Oxa and the surrounding hills. There is a 52-inch flatscreen smart TV in the living area and there is fast dedicated WiFi which supports streaming TV throughout the villa. Books, maps and games are provided. The kitchen area is fully equipped for self-catering with fridge-freezer, oven, hob, microwave, coffee-maker, kettle, toaster and dishwasher plus all necessary crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils. The middle floor contains 2 double bedrooms, both with king-sized beds, with a large shared balcony giving access to the pool and garden area. It also has a wet-room style shower and WC. The ground floor of the villa contains a further big double room with two single beds (which can be configured as one double if required) with a wet-room style bath, shower and WC, and a separate large utility area with sink and washing machine. All bedrooms have plenty of built-in storage and hanging space. The villa has dedicated parking for up to two vehicles. A travel cot & highchair are available on request.

Villa Karfi’s owners live in the next-door villa. We’re available if you need us, but are also happy to leave you in complete solitude throughout your stay! We can provide plenty of recommendations on where to eat and drink and how to make the most of your stay in Elounda.   
  
Elounda and the local area  
  
Elounda and its local area has something to offer for people of all ages and interests, and Villa Karfi’s location means that many of these can be enjoyed without the need to hire a car. Elounda’s sandy Blue Flag beach is award-winning for its cleanliness, and offers inexpensive sunloungers and warm, calm shallow water ideal for swimming. Elounda is near to several important archaeological sites of interest, including the epicentre of Minoan civilisation, Knossos, which is an hour’s drive away, and the sunken city of Olous from which the town takes its name. Centred on a busy square with its church, 2 supermarkets (both of which stay open late), several cafes and bakeries, many bars and restaurants, Elounda also offers a wide variety of shops and holds its own weekly fresh produce market every Friday. One of the most popular attractions in Crete, the island of Spinalonga, is a scenic boat trip away, with boats leaving Elounda harbour every 30 minutes during the holiday season. The town of Agios Nikolaos is a 20-minute drive away - buses leave regularly from the village square. The Elounda ‘fun train’ takes visitors up the coast to Plaka (the village closest to Spinalonga) and then travels up into the surrounding hills for a fascinating tour of traditional Cretan villages. There are extensive walking trails all around the local area, many offering spectacular views of Spinalonga and the Bay of Mirabello. Other nearby attractions which are within an hour’s drive include two major water parks, the aquarium of Crete, and the Lasithi plateau. There are several travel agents in the village which provide reasonably-priced car, quad bike, scooter, mountain bike, boat and kayak hire as well as many tailored excursions, including scuba and snorkelling trips and all-day tours of Knossos.   
  
During the winter months Elounda often experiences mild weather and number of restaurants and bars in the village remain open all year. The village supermarkets also operate year round.   
  
Getting around  
  
The villa is a short walk (9 minutes) from the main village harbour square with its many tavernas, cafes, shops and beach, with no significant gradients to negotiate (unlike many others in the area!) Cars can be parked in the village for free if required, and there is disabled parking provision very close to the major amenities. Heraklion airport is 65km (1 hour) drive on a high-quality modern road, and Heraklion itself, Crete’s largest city, is well worth a visit. Agios Nikolaos is 10km away, with regular buses from the village centre. A large number of small villages, some of which boast some superb tavernas, are all within a short driving radius of Elounda.  
  
The price is fully inclusive of the €10 per night Greek Government tax.

#### Top villa, Top accueil, Top localisation

La Villa est exactement conforme à la description : moderne, très bien agencée et très confortable. Une vue exceptionnelle et un calme absolu à dix minutes pied du centre d’Elounda. Comme à la maison, le confort hôtelier en plus. Tout y est, rien ne manque. De la cuisine ultra équipée au linge de maison, les serviettes, les produits d’accueils pour la salle de bain et plein d’autres choses qui nous ont facilité la vie. John et Flic sont des hôtes exceptionnels. Très discrets mais toujours disponibles en cas de besoin. Leur générosité se révèle par une multitude d’attentions qui ont sublimé notre séjour et nous ont permis de passer des vacances formidables.

#### Lovely villa, lovely location

Perfect villa for family of five!Villa itself is spacious enough for 5 adults, and having the kitchen/diner/lounge on the top floor gives a nice view of the top of Elounda and the sea beyond. It was spotlessly clean, and the owner was very helpful with any questions, and generously stocked the fridge with essentials, plus beer and wine. It's a well equiped villa too, with everything you need.Location is great – it's only a 10 min walk down to Elounda town, but set back in the hills behind the town, which is best of both worlds – very quiet, nice breeze when hot, but you can easily access the more lively town/harbour. Plenty of nice restaurants and bars of an evening.Plaka is only 3 miles up the coast – plenty of cabs if you don't have a car – which is classy and quiet, and you can get the boat to Spinalonga from there too.In all, a nice part of Crete and a nice villa – we'd certainly be happy to go back.

#### Marvellous and relaxing stay

John and Flic's villa is clean, comfortable, spacious and well equipped. Every possible need is covered including a welcome pack to get you going, a fab utility area for washing your clothes, well equipped kitchen, good wifi, TV with Netflix and a lovely (and private) swimming pool. Check in was super easy - we liaised with John with regard to our arrival time, and John left the key in the door for us. We knew our hosts were on hand should we need them (they live next door), but they were very respectful of our privacy and let us just relax on our holiday - perfect! The location is fantastic. A genuine 9 min walk into the main village of Elounda with its shops, tavernas and bars. You don't need a car at this villa unless you want to go further afield (we hired a small car for 2 days from Eagle in the village to get to Knossos and Kritsa). Elounda is lovely with a lot of choices for places to eat. You can also get the boat over to Spinaloga (highly recommend). Nice walks to be had on Kalydon as well as in to the neighbouring villages of Epano Elounda and Mavrikiano. Also recommend taking the 'train' up to Plaka and the villages of Vrouchas and Selles. Easy to go to the Water City water park (go on their website and select the ticket that includes transfers - you can arrange pickup from the church roundabout in Elounda). Nicely maintained villa in Elounda. Owners left us an array of local and breakfast products. Several island books to read. detailed check in process that covered all key area. Owner was very responsive to our questions.

A lovely villa and a genuine 10 min walk to Elounda centre (if anything the walk was great for digesting food after dinner!). Hosts were very courteous and communicative. They were able to set up a cot and high chair for our baby before we arrived which was very kind. Villa was clean and lovely - although get used to pool access being through one of the rooms. The pool great and it is quiet and peaceful. Overall a great place to stay and a lovely village. We would love to come again.

#### Villa Karfi

Excellent villa, modern & clean - location is a 10 minute walk from the centre of Elounda. Located on a quiet lane & surrounded by olive groves, the villa offers peace and tranquility. John and his wife, who live next door, are extremely kind & generous with their hospitality. Villa Karfi is highly recommended.

#### Great location and Villa

Had a lovely stay at Villa Karfi. Location exactly as described and so easy to walk into Elounda, which we did pretty much every day. Not too steep a walk and took about 12 mins. Villa had everything needed, beautifully presented and the welcome pack was so much appreciated. Very quiet area but easy access. We have stayed in other villas in Greece before and some of the roads up to them have been much trickier to negotiate. The only mentions I would make is that it would not be suitable for anyone with mobility issues as the property is over three floors so lots of steps and probably not suitable for families either for the same reason. Thanks again John and Flic and hope to be back again.

This is such a lovely property ! Set high so there are sea views, it is very comfortable and well equipped. Great pool - we swam every day even at the end of October! Owners quick to respond and very helpful . The village is a short walk and there are good supermarkets and restaurants. We used buses to get around - these were easy and efficient . Just a wonderful stay - thank you !

The Villa met all our expectations and more! Very well equipped and clean. The hosts were very welcoming and knows the area well and gave us excellent recommendations for local restaurants etc. We enjoyed their own Olive oil too. The Villa is private with beautiful views of the mountains and you can see the sea ahead with the white washed buildings in Elounda. Magnificent views. Also a short walk to Elounda. #### Spectacular views close to beautiful Elounda

Set on a hill in the middle of an olive grove we felt as if we were in middle of the Crete countryside - but yet only a few minutes from Elounda which has a huge choice of excellent restaurants, lots of boat trips on offer several beaches and a short drive to Ag Nik. The villa is brand new with modern bathrooms, small but well equipped kitchen and good size bedrooms. Balconies offer spectacular views of the sunrise. Pool is very pretty with large table and chaises. Small caveat - villa amplifies noise so you will hear loud guests throughout the villa. Access to the pool is through two of the bedrooms so put your late sleepers in the third bedroom if you like an early swim! The owners were very helpful and provided locally grown provisions. We would go back to this beautiful and very convenient place.

The villa is beautifully situated amidst olive groves with a wonderful view. We enjoyed the peace and quiet, but also the proximity to Elounda, where you can find everything for your stay. The hospitality and helpfulness of the owners, who were always available with help and advice, deserves special mention. An all-round successful holiday and a wonderful location.

#### Excellent Stay in Elounda

The villa was great, very clean and well equipped. Nice layout over 3 levels and with a poor and plenty of sun loungers to relax on. The location was superb, quiet and relaxing with lovely views and Elounda has plenty of restaurants, bars, bakeries, cafes, a nice harbour and pretty much everything you need on your door step. Some villas advertise that they are walking distance to the nearest village and it is sometimes a little bit of a stretch, but this villa really is close to the village and very walkable. Overall, really enjoyed our stay, the owners were lovely people who were very welcoming and always on hand. Strongly recommend you take a look at this villa, definitely worth a visit.
